i am moving blogs!! i've been struggling to be active here for quite a while, but i've found that starting fresh on a new blog has helped me be more active in the past when i've struggled with some of my other muses. so i'm trying that here! i'm happy to continue threads if there's any you'd like to keep - apologies for the trouble, but I hope to see you there!

“Of course I’m going to the festival! It sounds like so much fuuuuun!” ...Yeah, right. A festival dedicated to the Hinamizawans local god, Oyashiro-sama? With all the stories Kururu has heard about him, Kururu thinks she'll pass. Though it does make her heart ache when she remembers the Polaris festival happening at the same time - the one she should've been able to go to, but now... "Ahaha. Will you go too, Runa-san?" Kururu distracts herself from her homesickness by focusing back on Runa. "You must've been to last year's festival too, right?" If she's been here a year and a half, she would've been here for it, at least. Maybe she didn't go, but it seems unlikely. "Did you enjoy it? Kururu doesn't really know what to expect, you see!"

Runa couldn't help but let out a light giggle, bringing a hand up to her own face out of habit. An innocent smile adorned her face at hearing that Kururu will be attending the Cotton Drifting Festival. It'd be nice to have a new friend join her and her friends' antics before watching Rika's offering dance.
"Of course! Me and my friends are planning on having a whole showdown before the main event!!" Runa exclaimed, beginning to rock on her heels.
Though-- Then Kururu asked if she was there last year. And Runa had to bite her tongue at the bitter memories that emerged at the thought. Instead, the girl continued to keep her smile on for the other.
"Oh yeah, last year was tons of fun!! There was tons of games and delicious food! And Rika's dance last year was really beautiful to watch!" And then an idea popped into her head.
"Hey-- If you want, I'm sure Mion would love to have you join us!!"
"Mion... you mean, Sonozaki-san?"
There's no way that Kururu wouldn't recognize that name. But like Rika, she should be a child at this point in time... once again, Kururu realizes that this could be a fine opportunity for her to gather information, to find something she can give back to her family when she returns home, so she can help them, and she won't be useless...
But that doesn't stop her being afraid. Honestly, the idea of the curse that comes along with the festival is obviously superstitious nonsense, but that doesn't mean that there can't be a malicious intent behind it. And the villagers... Kururu doesn't trust them at all.
Still, Kururu keeps a smile plastered on her face. The talk of games and delicious food does nothing to excite her, but she should at least act like it does.
"I'd love to come! As long as Kururu being there won't make things haaaaard for you!" After all, inviting a stranger into a group of friends so easily is a little unusual, especially considering how it could shift the dynamics of that group drastically. Kururu thinks it's suspicious, herself.
"Are you friends with Sonozaki-san, Runa-san? What kind of people are your friends?"

why do i want to throw kururu's father at rika or satoko so bad...........
outside of him being a character i'm interested in despite him having a pretty minor role overall, i think maybe the fact that they're around the same age makes it an interesting concept for me?? and with satoko, they both share the common experience of abuse, which i think would be interesting for them to talk about maybe.
I KIND OF WANT TO MAKE A VERSE FOR SATOKO THAT'S LIKE BASED OFF HER GYARU CARD IN MEI.............. i don't have many ideas for it yet but i really like her design there and the story for the card actually sounds really interesting?? even if i can't unfortunately read it.
is this a dumb idea or would any of you be interested?? c:

i moved my reiwa muses over to their own blog like yesterday again, but i'm really finding that i prefer having them over here just so all my higurashi muses are all together... the problem is that i've been struggling to find mutuals/get any attention for my reiwa muses when i had them on a sideblog.
one solution could be to turn my satoko blog (the one i'm posting on now) into a higurashi multi, while keeping her as the primary muse??? which could work. it just feels weird to change things when this has been a solo muse blog for so long, haha ;w;

That's the last thing she wants Satoko to feel. Nobody deserves to feel that way about themselves. Believing that bringing up your own feelings will just cause trouble to others, becoming unable to discern reality from what exists in your own head... Rena knows that experience well. It's not something she wants Satoko, her precious friend, to go through.
" It's bothering you, isn't it? The fact that it's bothering you is reason to speak up on it's own. Don't worry about being illogical, don't worry about how things might sound... If you don't open up, things will never change, you know? "
So, Rena Ryuugu pushes forward under the assumption that Satoko Houjou is indeed troubled. It would be strange to think anything else, given their circumstances. And... Rena desperately wants to be of use to her. If she can support Satoko in any way, she'll be happy.
" .... If it's really troubling you, then please tell Rena what you're thinking right now. "
"W-well... I don't know..."
Rena's kindness helps push Satoko to overcome her fears and speak up, but she still hesitates - though this time, it's more because she doesn't know how to put in words what she wants to say. ...Right now, she's distracted by what's on her mind, but later, she'll likely look back on this moment and realize how lucky she is to have a friend like Rena... if possible, Satoko wants to show her appreciation however she can.
But in this moment, she instead focuses on pulling her thoughts together into something more concrete. If Rena really doesn't mind, then it's probably okay to share her feelings, but how should she...?
"I feel as if there's something she doesn't want to tell me." Her words are slow and thoughtful, as she takes a first uncertain step forward. "It's... not something bad, I don't think... I just wonder why she won't ever tell me what she's thinking." Saying it aloud, it feels silly.
"I don't know. I may well be thinking too hard, and I'm aware it's rather selfish, too. Shion-san doesn't have to tell me everything on her mind." So why does it bother her? In the back of her mind, she's sure there's some deeper reason, but somehow, it almost scares her to touch upon it. She shouldn't have said anything...
"I just wonder why it bothers me so much... am I being ungrateful, Rena-san?"
They had all overcome such hardship together, and in return she's received great happiness. Being able to confide in Mion before the incident lifted a terrible weight from her shoulders, and now... She's never seen Rika looking so energetic. The energy coming off the other club members is contagious-- she can't remember the last time she was this happy for so long.
Yet, Satoko looks troubled. For a second, she wonders if it's because of Shion's teasing... it is important that Satoko eats the right amount of vegetables, though. Rena had noticed Shion's frequent visits, but had assumed it was because her relationship with the Sonozaki family had improved. Never did she consider that there would be another reason.
.... But if Satoko is troubled by it, she ought to hear her out.
" .... Shii-chan hasn't talked to Rena about anything like that. But Shii-chan went through a lot back then too, didn't she? ... Didn't she? Maybe her strange mood is because she's trying to deal with everything that happened, just like us. That's why Rena has been trying to support her. "
" Satoko-chan, do you think something is wrong? Or maybe... Is something troubling you, I wonder? ... I wonder? "
"Oh... I suppose that makes sense..." But Satoko doesn't quite feel satisfied with Rena's explanation. Luckily, she doesn't seem to be dismissing her either, so Satoko allows herself to continue - admittedly, being careful so as not to seem like she's overthinking.
"But, I feel like there's something else." she furrows her brows, thinking hard. If anything, it seems like Shion's strange mood is a good thing - she certainly seems particularly happy, and she's always full of energy, so maybe it's not something Satoko should be worrying about at all.
Is Satoko just being paranoid? It makes her feel a little guilty to think of it that way. After finding out so many secrets that have been kept from her lately - Rika's hardships, the Hinamizawa syndrome, and even the truth of her own condition... maybe she's been more affected than she thought. She's not angry at Rika for the secrecy. She couldn't possibly be! She understands her reasoning entirely, and more than anything, she's glad that her friend had decided to trust her in the end. But somehow... what is this feeling, deep within her chest...?
"It's not troubling me at all, though! There's no cause for concern!" All at once, Satoko insists on that point firmly as if trying to laugh off her guilty thoughts. Though once she realizes that she'd be keeping things from Rena to pretend that nothing's going on, she's compelled to open up at least a little more.
"...Do you think that I'm thinking too hard about it?"
Satoko has found herself feeling strange as of late.
It's not necessarily an unpleasant feeling. Sometimes, she feels like she's not really truly here, or like she's forgetting something important. It took her a while to come to identify those feelings for what they were, in fact, but even more than that - she's sure there's still something else she's feeling that she can't quite put her finger on.
And yes, it's frustrating. But at the same time, things are really better than ever at the moment. Rika has been happier than Satoko's ever seen her, and while Shion-san has been acting strangely, she seems to be in a cheerful mood, too... and when Satoko lets herself get swept away in their joy, it's such a wonderful feeling that she never wants it to end. But at other times, when she stops to reflect... that unidentifiable sensation comes back like it had never left.
Maybe she still hasn't quite processed everything that happened in June? The fight for Rika's life, and everything she learned back then...
"Rena-san, haven't you noticed it too?" Satoko finds herself asking Rena one day, in a spare moment under the heat of the sun. "Shion-san has been coming by so regularly, and she's always in such a strange mood! Honestly, I felt quite sure it couldn't be a coincidence, but she insists that there's nothing going on... she hasn't confided in you, has she?"
