Izuku feels that because he lost his quirk, there's no place for him in Katsuki's world. Katsuki feels that Izuku is choosing a life without him, giving up their battle. They don't talk for a long time...

Until at a UA alumni party. One thing leads to another and suddenly it's like no time has passed at all, and they're crashing into eachother again. Forgetting all about the ones waiting in bed at home.

thinking… thinking… thinking about how katsuki apologized despite knowing he didn’t HAVE to. he knew izuku had already forgiven him a long time ago, but he wanted to. he didn’t need it to change anything, didn’t need a response, he just needed to say it because izuku deserved to/needed to hear it

and he’s never stopped sticking to his word, never stopped being better for izuku even if he doesn’t have to. like izuku said “deku is fine” but no!!! katsuki will only ever call him “izuku”!!!!

I posted about this not long ago, but this is precisely what I mean when I say I dont fancy Katsuki calling him "Deku" after they've made amends and/or gotten together. It isn't FOR Izuku's feelings at all, this is KATSUKI'S choice, his promise to himself, that he can be a better man.

He is committed to proving, even when he doesn't have to, that he's learned. That he values Izuku. That they're better than they were. That they will NEVER have to traverse through the dark places he'd put them into ever again.

It is an act of love and respect just as much as it is an act to repent.

I do NOT enjoy Katsuki calling Izuku "deku" after they've gotten together (or using any petnames for that matter), I'm SORRY.

That name started as a cruel joke, something nasty meant to tear him down/call him useless. A thing without worth. It is SO MUCH MORE intimate to me to have Katsuki relinquish the name altogether. The public uses "Deku" because Izuku has reclaimed it, but Katsuki? Katsuki grows soft. He grows to be kind. "Izuku" falls from his lips like a prayer, every time.

Very important bkdk dynamic to me is Izuku allowing Katsuki to manage most things in their daily life together. Katsuki handles the finances, the scheduling of public appearances, even cooks dinner.

And most importantly, Katsuki loves doing it.

Izuku has forgiven him for everything, but at the same time, he knows Katsuki can't forgive himself. So izuku gives him tasks, allowing himself to be cared for, and allowing Katsuki an opportunity to treat him gently, to put him first.

Izuku doesn't lift a finger because Katsuki feels his best when he serves, and through that service he'll atone, for the rest of their lives.
