just finished school girl by osamu dazai & i’m desperate for similar books.. i was initially intimidated to read anything by dazai bc his works are commonly associated with way advanced readers & literature snobs but this book was easy for me to grasp & relatable/understandable.
i’ll prob post a more thorough review later but this book is full of really good lines & rich imagery, despite it being (at its bare minimum base) a book about a girl’s thoughts. the narrator is never named which is interesting because though we know her most intimate thoughts & feelings, she’s still distanced from us. i would give this book a good 4.5/5, really worth reading!

currently reading schoolgirl by osamu dazai and i’m obsessed with the protagonist’s streamline of thoughts & how there’s really a minimal focus on her actions. it’s mostly thought. relatable thought too, wandering thoughts that relate very vaguely at times. memories & the like.
i’m only 66% through it, but i think i’d like to read another work by dazai or just similar books in general when i finish up with this one. any recommendations would be genuinely appreciated!
