Ward was mad. This wasnât a new occurrence, of course. Ward was almost always mad, and that anger was typically directed towards Danny. Losing a planner with a couple of Rand files in it wasnât the worst business move Danny had ever made⌠but there was no denying that it wasnât great. So Ward was mad, and Danny was stuck between the desire to solve the problem and the desire to hide out in his office until Ward left. Right now, he had settled on the latter, chin resting on his fist as he glared at the door as if glaring it to open. It didnât. Instead, his phone rang.
The conversation was brief one. The security guard apologized profusely for âbotheringâ him, to which Danny insisted that it was no bother at all. He was just about to ask after the manâs fiance when the guard cut to the chase and told him his reason for calling. There was a kid in the lobby, he said, a kid demanding to see Danny. âHe has some kind of day planner. Says itâs yours?â Danny grinned, nodding quickly before remembering that the phone made the action a little pointless. âIâll be right down. Uh, ask if he wants a coffee or a tea or something?â And then he was off, practically sprinting for the elevator in an attempt to get out before Ward caught wind that he was leaving. The elevator opened in the lobby and Danny walked briskly towards the security desk, flashing the guards a grin. âHey, guys. Is he here?â His eyes scanned the lobby before pausing on the man. âOh, hi! Iâm Danny! They, uh, they said you found my planner?âÂ
Teddy figured it was a long shot. The odds of them letting some kid with no real business here aside from handing in some lost property? Slim to none. Heâs not being difficult on purpose, though. Sure, he could just hand the stuff in and hope it winds up in the right personâs hands. But Teddyâs seen all kinds of things go wrong thanks to assumptions, and.. well, the last thing he wants is to be the cause of some kind of business-related disaster because Randâs files made it into the wrong hands.
What he didnât quite expect was for Rand to come to him, to see the man rushing through the lobby towards him. For a second all he can do is stare, wide-eyed with surprise, blinking a couple of times. âOh - yeah, hi. Hello, Mr. Rand.â He looks down at the planner in his hands before holding it out, a relieved sort of smile on his face. âYeah, I found it - on a table at a coffee shop? I didnât read anything inside but - it looked kind of important, so I wanted to make sure it got back to the right person.â

It sounds ridiculously cheesy even to Billy in his own head, but thereâs no way this is anyone but his Teddy. Not a stray Prince Dorrek wandering around this universe for him, but the man he loved so much it was like a physical ache to be without him. The guy who meant so much that a whole world without him just felt â pointless. No wonder the people around here seemed pretty miserable, without the embodiment of everything freaking awesome that Teddy is. âŚItâs kind of a relief sometimes, that the embodiment doesnât include telepathy, or Billy knows he wouldnât be living any of this down.
âI have no idea how you did this, but fuck iâm so glad you did. Youâve got no idea how universes majorly suck without you, babe.â Itâs meant to come off light, easy, but really itâs too laden with relief to be anything but an honest confession. Sure, thereâs traffic probably watching and one.. probably irate driver involved in that audience, but they could both pretend they played this reunion off totally cool later. Billyâs not in the mind to give a damn when his fiance is here, when he can feel his magic actually settle back into his skin now he no longer needs to worry, fret, pine, about the most important person left behind. Hell, he can actually kinda believe it that itâll be okay. Tommyâs here. Teddyâs here. It could be a hell of a lot worse than that.
âWhat? No â Not no, I mean, iâm alright. I got most of the major freaking out done in the first twenty four hours?â Active word, most. âThen, yâknow. Debated the possibility my powers went wild and actually decided to make this universe with all the registration cops ân all, that wasnât a fun rabbithole. But iâm okay. Better than okay now, babe. But youââ Billy takes a breath, and looks at Teddy properly, eager to make up for the opportunities heâd missed. His expression softens, and truly⌠he dreads to think of what it was like for Teddy, to be left even accidentally. God knows the guilt has been chewing Billy up, just thinking about it. âAre you okay? If the answerâs no, you can still tell me.â
Universe hopping can mess with your head. People arenât made for that - jumping from their own universe to somewhere else, then somewhere else, then somewhere else - itâs not exactly the most fun an experience, truth be told. And it can be easy to mesh universes together in your head. Teddy only knows bits and pieces about this universe from his search for Billy, but - one thing he does know is that, no matter how many universes he peeked into trying to find his fiance, he knows this is his Billy. This is his Billy. The realisation hits him like a wave, washing over him and finally, finally putting him at ease. By the sounds of it thereâs a lot of shit going on in this universe, but.. they can figure that out. So long as theyâre doing it together.
âIâm a little insulted you think I wouldnât pull out every single stop for you, baby.â Teddy jokes with an amused and very sappy sort of grin on his face. Thereâs nothing he wouldnât do for Billy when it comes down to it. And he knows how that sounds, know people look at the two of them and think theyâre over the top or too much or too dependent, but - theyâve been through a few hells and come back stronger for them, both in their relationship and outside of it. Theyâre.. right where they should be. Maybe not in the right universe, but in the right place. âI guess if it sucked that much you might be less inclined to go disappearing on me, huh?â Another joke, he knows - but itâs half true. He knows Billy didnât disappear on him, but he still disappeared. And it definitely wasnât easy.
Heâs okay, though. Teddy listens intently, feeling a little twist in his stomach at knowing that Billy had to go through all of this, spiral through these thoughts by himself. Well - not by himself, if his brother is here too. Tommy wouldâve helped, Teddyâs sure of that much. Wouldâve at least helped Billy see straight when he was going through this. And heâs okay now. Heâs okay now. âMe? Billy, what -â Teddy listens for a moment, a little surprised that this has been playing on Billyâs mind. Though.. maybe he shouldnât be. God knows heâs worried about Billy so much while theyâve been separated. It makes sense.. Billy would feel the same. âIâm.. okay now.â Teddy answers honestly, letting out a slow breath. And he is. Heâs been... all kinds of not okay, trying to find his fiance, but now heâs... heâs good. âIâm good, I just.. I needed to find you. I needed to know youâre okay. So long as you are - I am, too.â
universalmxgeâ:
If thereâs one thing Billyâs learned about jumping universes, overall? It tends to suck. Itâs not like this place is even that bad. Accords? Avoid them, no problem, easier than getting possessed in space. Hell, he even has Tommy here to make this journey a hell of a lot more bearable. Not that heâs going to tell him that. The worst part, is always the worrying. About his fiance and love of his life, stuck back home. Back Home overall, is it still standing? Will they be able to get back? âŚItâs been a bad couple of weeks, as far as anxious thoughts go.
It comes to a point that hearing Teddyâs voice? Billy is pretty sure itâs in his head, though hell knows why his conscience would be screaming at him for opening a door. But heâs never not going to look for the source, just in case. He doesnât want to miss his own jedi ghost moment by refusing to look. Except, this isnât a ghost. This is â Actually Teddy, running across traffic toward him. Stopthecarstopthecarstopthecar. The magic comes to him easily, never mind hiding from the accords. Teddy might be able to brush off a car crash, but Billy sure as hell doesnât want to watch that happen. âTeddy?!â Billy calls, runs over without thought to jump onto his lover with a tight embrace. Itâs only when itâs clear this isnât a vision that the relief hits him, all at once. âWhat theâ How the hell did you get here? Whyâ Fuck, I missed you so much.â Too much. Enough that Billy could easily fit into an old-age novel where the maidens pine across the fjords. âYou have no idea, iâm so sorry you werenât there to bring with me, we just had to â youâre not gonna believe how many times I tried taking a look at how you were doing, but like - not in a stalker way, I promise, just. Youâre here.â
Teddy knows itâs risky to run out into traffic, but heâs not stupid. He timed it carefully enough that he should get through it without a problem, should be able to dodge the incoming traffic and make it across safe. Nevertheless he sees Billyâs magic coming a mile away, his fiance going an extra step to make sure he makes it across safe, and that thought alone is enough to put a ridiculously wide smile on his face as he approaches the other side of the street.
Being without Billy was just - not okay. Not even remotely. Billyâs his family, the only family he has left, Billy is.. heâs everything to Teddy. Thereâs literally nothing he wouldnât do for him including taking the risk of universe hopping to try and find him. Was it risky as hell? Yeah, definitely. Teddyâs aware of that. He knew the risk when he started the journey to begin with. He knew there was a chance heâd get stuck somewhere he couldnât make it back from. But it was worth the risk. It would always be worth the risk, for this moment.
The one where Billy basically launches into his arms, and for the first time in a few weeks Teddy feels like he can breathe easy again. âI missed you too. God - I missed you like crazy." He murmurs, holding onto Billy as tight as he can without hurting him. He knows theyâre overly cheesy and super cliche, and that heâs way too sappy for his own good, but Teddy doesnât care. He never cares when it comes to Billy. âIâm here, baby. Iâm here, itâs okay. Sâall okay.â
Heâs not sure heâs saying that more for Billy or for himself, but - heâs probably gonna say it a few more times anyway.
After a moment of hesitation he pulls back - not enough to let him go, but enough to just look at him. To take in this moment. âDonât mind you stalking me a bit, just... god. Youâre okay, right?â A slight frown creases his forehead as he looks at Billy, shifting from relief to protection-mode, in a sense. After so long apart, he canât help it.

Teddy didnât mean to pry or anything, but when he found a compendium at an empty table at a coffee shop, one with âRand Enterprisesâ sharply embossed on the front and no other clue as to exactly who it might belong to, he may have.. snooped. A little. Taken a sneak peek inside to see if he could figure out exactly who it belonged to. He didnât look at anything else in there of course - he found a business card and that was enough for him, immediately zipping it shut and keeping a close hold on it as he made his way to Rand Enterprises.
Considering the card inside had belonged to Danny Rand of all people, Teddy felt kinda responsible for making sure it got back into the right hands. Which... funnily enough, the security guards at the front desk donât seem to agree with. âListen - all due respect, but Iâm not just going to hand it over. You guys have enough on your plate without having to deal with lost property too.â Truth be told Teddy, while he likes to hope for the best in people, has learned over the years to expect the worst. Who knows what might happen to the contents if he leaves it with them. âIâll just be in and out, seriously. I just want to return this to Mr. Rand - oh come on, seriously?â Teddy groans and drops his head as one of the guards tells him to wait while he makes another call, his grip still tight on the compendium to keep it safe. It looks like he might be stuck here for a while.

Itâs probably narrow minded and ridiculous to be so focused on one objective in a whole new universe where things are god knows what way, but Teddy is literally here for one reason. To find his fiance and hopefully take him back home. God knows he and Billy have spent enough time universe and multiverse traipsing. Unless their next trip involves a beach and a vacation, heâs not interested.
Finding Billy is easy enough for Teddy - they know each other too well, know each otherâs patterns. Heâs confident if the situation was reversed, Billy would be able to find Teddy no problem. Finding the exact place heâs renting out is a little trickier, but when Teddy finally does see him making his way inside, he doesnât hesitate. âBilly! Oh my god -â He calls out, hurrying across the street without even thinking about the incoming traffic. If anyone hits him his skin is tough enough to handle it - heâs more worried about making sure Billy is okay, making sure heâs safe. Getting him, both of them, and Tommy if they can find him, back home.
