Get Real

"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭3-12‬ NASB) When's the last time you sat and fed a homeless man? Or comforted a stranger during their struggle with depression? We speak to say we are serving the Kingdom of God, while our actions do not reflect so. In contrast we look to continue harvesting the crops that have been gathered for the last twenty years. When do we get to see the fruits of our labor rather than the vegetables of our complacent hearts? Our generation seeks the fulfillment of success, but never finds success. Our generation seeks to find the fulfillment of knowledge, but never discovers knowledge. Our generation fights to acquire the fulfillment of power, yet have ever managed to tally a victory for the record. Have we done anything? Who are WE? We have lost sight of where we are called, and are in current pursuit of the futile existence. Wake UP! Get Real! Seek the Kingdom of God!

A wild day

I have returned from Chattanooga, attending the funeral of a dear friend of mine, Jame Dunn. What a beautiful ceremony it was to be in attendance to. It really made me stop and appreciate all that I have in life, especially my relationship with the Lord. His wife, Mrs. Beverley Dunn has been an amazing testimony of controlling her emotions and having the peace of the spirit upon her.

I have just finished half of the movie, Jobs. I'll follow up on what I think about the movie and my feelings toward the character they conveyed. So far, even though Steve is ambitious, I don't appreciate the way he has handled others. It irritates me that people believe in order to get anywhere in life, you have to treat people poorly and move on. I don't agree. Too be continued.

A designer learns to cook

Tonight, I am exploring Turkey. No, not the country, the animal. I am cooking my first home-cooked meal, without...Mom! This is intense.  I do have to cite Chef John, from foodwishes.com for his wonderful Video.

Tonight I traveled to the grocery store, and purchased this big plumpin turkey and all of the ingredients: A rib of celery, a carrot, an onion, rosemary, sage, and butter. Preparation for the turkey is explained in the video above. What a process! I am interested what other methods and processes can added to this meal to give it some other kick and flavor. During preparation, I buttered up the turkey, with a self made herb-ed butter and placed it in the oven, where it shall reside for approximately 2.25 hours. It is currently 8:00p.m. - At 10:15, I am interested in how it will taste.

Mom, I am going out on a limb on this but if I am able to be half of the chef you are, this might taste alright. Results shall vary, but I am hoping this turkey will be delectable for the rest of the week. Follow up blog will discuss my thoughts from the perspective of a design critic and a cigar aficionado, of both I am little of if any.

Mark 6

Mark 6 2 - People in the synagogue were amazed at the wisdom He had. They were amazed at His mighty work done by his hand. Seeking The Lord to do work in my life that make people amazed at works, having the heart only to reveal The Lord. 7 - And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. Christ has authority. And he sends us out in pairs to minister. Sent them two by two. (Interesting thought, is this where Mormonism gets the ideas to send out in pairs?) 20. For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly. Let The Lord use us so that people fear the righteousness in our hearts. John wasn't boring, he was exciting and he excited Herod, enough to think at least. 30. The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. And He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest awhile." We need to rest and recharge. 36-37....send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat. But He answered them, You give them something to eat." Sometimes we expect God to orchestrate all and move mountains without us. When all He wants us to do is to believe, begin, and let us be the hands for His wonderful work. 46 - after He had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. How important prayer is especially after his work has been glorified. 54- And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized him and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard he was. This is funny because the people who aren't following him easily recognize Him. Earlier in vs 50, Christ recognizes that even his disciples lose sight of him and can't recognize Him amongst the winds. In this chapter it is evident of the power of Christ and his authority. We must be steadfast in ministry and be in continuous prayer!

A Struggling Day

Today has been a struggle; a real struggle. 

I overslept my alarm and missed Pledge Share this morning - missed two of my pledge brother’s testimonies which absolutely killed me. After arriving upon school I was confronted with a hundred different tasks, pulling me in every which direction. Nonetheless majority of my day was consumed completing tasks that didn’t provide motivation nor fulfillment.

As my day concluded with the end of studio, the end of busy work, my day began to become less of a struggle and more of a relief. I was able to minister and share my faith to a dear Muslim friend of mine. If anything God is showing me its not about informing him about my faith, but more importantly displaying my faith through my actions. I believe this will be so important in the near future for our friendship.

After that I had the incredible opportunity to sit and eat dinner with a pledge brother and hear his testimony.  It was so uplifting and encouraging. I am so thrilled to see the Lord work in my pledge brother as he matures through college. We left dinner, at the glorious Chick-fil-A, and headed to Crossroads at Fellowship Church.  The message was phenomenal , truly shed light on my walk and revealed to me what weaknesses I need to still work on.  

Finally concluding the night, I ran into a dear friend of mine who I haven’t spoken to in about four months other than text. He has matured so much despite the issues and problems that he has had to face! He is such an incredible spirit moving for continuing to serve the student body and our addressing failures. Keep up the good fight!

The Journey Begins

Recently I have not been great at documenting my life, but as my seasons are changing I believe this is my next focus. I haven't been successful in the past at speaking and organizing my thoughts. All of which I think have derived from the lack of writing/reading. I am beginning to focus on this more.

I want to begin to outline and document the current situations I am dealing with in my life from my experiential perspective, to then announce to the world what God is doing in my life.  For a moment, I want to reiterate how much God has shaped me in the past 9 months, especially in the time of being single. It has been an intense struggle; dealing with lust, pride, being judgmental, and so many other challenges that have kept me growing closer to my Father. However, he is revealing these weaknesses daily and providing me the strength to overcome them.  Praise Him!

More recently, tonight, I have been blessed in so many ways, all being the result of my Father's love - And I have learned we don't have to earn it! He loves us the same no matter what! So tonight begins the documenting of this journey, and I pray that this can in some way attribute to your walk with the Lord.

Proverbs 16:3
