New Galaxy Moth Prints

Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce that new Galaxy Moth prints are now available in my shop!

It might seem small to some, but it's been a big goal of mine to find a quality paper for my prints. Since I mainly paint in ink and watercolor, I've found it difficult to find a decent and affordable printer to reproduce my illustrations. While prints are never the same as the original art itself, I also want to give my customers a feeling as close to the original art as I possibly can. So I can't express to you how happy I am to have a beautiful cotton paper that is similar to actual watercolor paper!

I'm trying very hard to improve the quality of not only my artwork itself but my business as a whole.  I hope these prints can find some lovely new homes and I'm always thrilled to receive pictures from happy customers. 

In other news, I'm still very busy prepping for a Comic Con next month and a local annual art festival in September. I just finished up some new pieces that are currently getting turned into stickers! I will be sharing more on that soon once everything has finished being printed

Website Design Refresh & Shop

Hello 2018, a very late one at that!

I haven't written on my blog in forever and it's something that I have missed doing. I mainly post on Instagram and Twitter since it's so easy. After a while writing on my blog felt redundant and more work at times to keep it updated. In the last year I've honestly overwhelmed between all the social media platforms, so I took a step back and wanted to consolidate things.

I decided to move my online shop from Tictail to Squarespace. Tictail was a great first shop for me and I still like their platform, but recently they've been changing to offer more features for a subscription service. I already pay for web hosting with Squarespace, so moving my shop made sense.

The other reason for moving was to make things more convenient for my audience and anyone new viewing in my work. I often got a few questions and general confusion on where to get my work. Hopefully now it's a more convenient and pleasant experience for everyone. Well that's all I have for now! I'm very excited to continue adding to this website as I create new art.

Inktober No.2: This little mouse fell into some flowers.

Prompt theme was mouse and baby's breath, so I tried to make it my own and a little more interesting. Went past my time limit so I didn't fill in the background. I may add a light ink wash later but we'll see.

I inked the old school today but I had to hurry up and switched to a cheap Micron for some of it.

Inktober No. 1: Chai the Alpine Feline

I decided to follow https://www.instagram.com/lanajay_art/  prompt theme of familiars & flowers, but I had this silly idea and had to run with it.

I've sketched out so many thumbnails of things I’d like to work on during Inktober but I began to overthink (as I often do). And that led to some anxiety of how I was going to do this challenge while juggling the work I need to finish before November.

So I thought about my character Phoebe (sheep girl) and who might live in her world. And that's where this fancy Siamese came in. I won’t be coloring this much every time but it was a good opportunity for me to play with soft loose washes. For themes and such, I’ll be mixing up with prompts, expanding on current subjects and themes I’m interested/want to improve in. Good luck luck everyone! My little set up at a local art fair/expo. My postcards went over better then I expected. I only have a few left, but I might print more. It was nice to talk to other local artists and people that were browsing around. Overall I enjoyed my first experience doing this.

Got my order of prints and Moo order in today. I'll be selling prints and postcards as my local art expo this Saturday! Any leftovers will go up on my shop.

Finally my personal piece “Floral Fawn” is finished. 🌸

It took longer then I planned but I’m happy to share it. I’ll be selling prints of this piece along with a few others at a upcoming art expo/fair in early April. After the event I’ll be putting up any leftover merch up on my shop.

Tried out some new drawing paper and seeing if it could handle ink washes. So I sketched 2B from NieR Automata. This paper you have to be quick and direct so maybe I'll have a better handle next time! I don't mind the sloppiness though.

I finished this a few weekends ago and it's already sent off to its new home. Had a lot of fun with it! The moon shimmers IRL, but it doesn't capture well scanned. 🌙🌿

Watercolor studies of Maeve (Thandie Newton) Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) from Westworld. 

I watched Westworld over the holidays and really enjoyed it. I’ve been itching to draw some of the characters as practice for a while. I’m also trying to get back into the habit of drawing in my sketchbook more often.
