i am backing this harder than ever. a precedent has been set in america that you can’t even talk about being abused, even if you don’t name your abuser, without it being labeled as defamatory. this is so so bad for dv victims. depp is still a certified wife beater in the uk btw.

can we just talk about janine and gregory for a moment? because they have the most chokehold on me.

the way gregory is just there for her. he came into this job disinterested, upset about losing his principal position and took one look at janine, the caring, over enthusiastic teacher trying to do what's best for the kids and decided to stay. the parallels between janine's ex-boyfriend, who would put off tasks that she asked him to do, vs. gregory who took initiative to fix an issue the moment janine pointed it out. the adoration and admiration that he has when he sees janine, desperately trying to make ends meet, and the way he just is there whenever she needs him.

the scene where he chases off after her when she storms off, with an umbrella in his hand because he knows it's raining outside. the way he stays with her to help her off the ladder, and even slows down and encourages her to come down at her pace. the fact that unlike everyone else in the school who looks at janine's big aspirations as a fever dream, he supports it, even if he doesn't think it's practical. he adores that enthusiastic, almost controlling side of her and never makes it seem like she's being too much.

the way he walks towards her the moment she says she's lightheaded and stands behind her to catch her just in case she does fall. and god, the way he looks out for her and runs towards her when she falls off of the desks in episode eleven, and is the first to help her up. the firmness, (slight panic) and care he shows when she tries to push past her limit and offers to get her ice and take care of her.

(side note: he's just so hot)

he shows her so much concern and he looks for her and just anticipates her needs, despite being so disinterested in the job as substitute teacher. he is absolutely over the moon for her and my god, i need abbott elementary to have like 8 season just so i can get more of this couple. gregory and janine are the next sitcom couple that will be the blueprint for healthy tv relationships!

Actually last point and then I’m done for tonight but the main reason white people are so upset that Will Smith physically defended his wife against somebody who made an ableist joke. It’s because they’ve always seen him as ✌🏾one of the good blacks✌🏾 so now that he stepped out of character and he stepped out of line and he doesn’t Fit this respectability image that they project it onto him they don’t know what to do.
