Ch 50.2 is out with 19 pages; only a page shorter than last time, so still a pretty good length.

Lots of conversations, so to get the full effects of this chapter, you’ll probably have to wait for the English scanslations from EGS. In the mean time, I’ll just give the general idea.

The first half of this chapter is two parallel conversations – one between Sun and Ya Luo, and another between Mohui and Ah-Lai. Basically, Mohui tells Ah-Lai everything. He feels sad and guilty that Sun doesn’t get to have any of the things that Mohui is having right now, things Mohui believes that he took from Sun.

Ch 49.2 is here, and it is a glorious 20 pages! And just like someone had guessed, there are some serious revelations here. Since this chapter is pretty straightforward, I’ll just go through what happens, and you guys can draw your own conclusions from these.

First, we learn that Chang-ge really doesn’t know anything about her mother’s past, not even her name when she was in Uyghur. The only thing she knows is that her mother was brought back from a battle with the Turks. Qin wonders if the reason that the Silifa was angry is because he thought they were using his dead sister as an excuse to get the old lady’s sympathy. He also warned Chang-ge to be not be in a rush to verify this.

Chang-ge: ……I know. Looking at his actions, we’ve probably been marked as liars.

Thank you for the summary! And for the excellent commentary. 

Interesting point about Chang Ge’s lack of ties with her Uyghur roots. That said, I think Chang Ge does want to learn about her mother’s story? I got the impression that was the reason why she was so insistent of going with Qin to Uyghur (and what she meant by “satisfying her own desires.”)  

Sun’s past is heartbreaking and the last page made me legitimately teary. I do wonder what his stance is on the Great Khan now. He did say that “a wolf would not bite the ewe that raised him” but the basis of his love and gratitude towards his foster father was the cover story that the Great Khan had saved him. Now that it’s revealed that the Great Khan was not his savior, and actually ruined the lives of his actual savior and mother…well. I don’t think Sun will seek revenge, but I’m curious whether we get to see a confrontation (and if this is the beginning to your Sun will lead the Khitan rebellion theory). I’m actually hoping the story will return to the Turks’ camp soon. I miss Mujin, and I want to see what Princess Yicheng, Jinse and the Lesser Khan is up to.

As mentioned in my previous post, this is the official PV for the theme song of the upcoming animated manhua for Chang Ge Xing produced by 燃也Royal. I’ve decided to use the term “animated manhua” here because, well, that’s what it really is. I’ve seen some promo scenes, and they’re basically manhua panels that have been animated. Sort of like gifs, only somewhat smoother. This is a bit of a disappointment, but on a better note, we have this song.

This is an amazing, amazing song, and it tells the Chang Ge Xing story perfectly. The song was written by some of the best online classical style Chinese music singers and song writers (think Chinese version of famous YouTube singers)! The PV was originally posted on 燃也Royal’s bilibili.com page and can be found here, and the audio-only version is here.

Bonus: 燃也Royal also post a clip of the demo session of the voice actors here, where you can hear some of the voice actors of the first volume act out some of their lines. Be sure to turn off the comments floating across the video by clicking on the bubble next to the volume adjustment.
