Confusion Over Divided Opinions

It’s been a while ever since I started watching various video review shows. I’ve been (finally) caught up with the Nostalgia Critic web show for maybe over a year now. To celebrate the anniversary, I’ve started cautiously looking through various online posts on the series. I’ve been seeing a lot of things that confuse me and I don’t know if it’s because I’m naive or stupid.

Basically, I’ve been seeing some posts saying that the treatment of certain characters in the newer episodes is fairly lackluster. There’s some kind of character arc with Malcom, Tamara, and Rachel that I really don’t seem to see. When I did my initial research on the Nostalgia Critic series to see if I would enjoy watching it, I saw that Doug based part of the Nostalgia Critic character on Daffy Duck.

That influenced my way of thinking about the series, so much so that I just see every episode (as well as every subsequent appearance of an Internet reviewer in general) as a Looney Tunes cartoon. To me, unless it’s stated otherwise, characters will change their personalities for the sake of a joke.

Could someone explain the controversies to me in a private message or something? I don’t understand the correct terminology for this site. I keep confusing it with Wordpress. I am sorry if I sound rude or annoying. Have a good day, everyone!

Where can I get a Halloweenie skull?

I’m headed to Crypticon Minneapolis this October, and would love to cosplay as Halloweenie, but am having a hell of a time trying to find a Halloweenie skull. Is that something Phelous made/had commissioned himself, or are there people who sell those? Is it a Canadian thing? Please help!

As someone with OCD it's really bugging me that since producers have started moving their videos from Blip to YouTube none of them are in order (oldest to newest). With that said I do feel sorry for Brad Jones who probably has the biggest catalogy due uploading 2 or 3 videos a week for 7 years.

Well, I for one would probably be more inclined to send in a Secret if I didn't think there'd be a bunch of shouting, meltdowns, mod purges, and a change of domain names followed by weeks of silence if I said I thought a Producer trimmed their nose hair 2/8ths of an inch too short on one side...

I'll be honest: it has been difficult to deal with confessions lately. Many of the submissions we have gotten recently haven’t really been appropriate for the blog.  We welcome criticism of course but the things some people have been saying have seemed more like personal attacks on producers and/or fans than the content of the reviews or CA itself (our readers don’t see all the stuff we reject but there have been more of those than usual lately). Changes in “staff” around here as well as certain our personal lives have also complicated things (we may add more people soon if this continues). We are doing our best despite these issues and we do apologize for them!

Quick question...if, hypothetically, someone was downloading all of Justin's videos off of Blip just in case, is there anything they should do with them? Upload them somewhere? If so, where?

I would say don’t upload them, at least for now. Anyone have any ideas of what this person should do or where they might be able to watch Justin’s videos outside of Blip?

Lupa streamed a bad 90s Sinbad movie on the anniversary of a traumatic incident for me, so I was feeling very upset. Watching that stupid film, the funny commentary and talking to her, her friends and the rest of the chat really helped to cheer me up and keep my mind off things that I'd normally be upset about. Thanks Allison and co. for making me smile on what would have been a very bad day.

Bittersweet Symphony

Watching Benzaie’s “A Frog in Reno” video again was rather bittersweet for me. Mostly because of all the friendships torn apart over the years (for whatever reasons), but also because it’s sad seeing Justin (JewWario) before his inner-demons got to him. All these cool, sweet people, and all the years of stress that’ve split them up…it’s like watching a home movie after your family breaks up.

One of the things I’ve always admired about Lindsay is what a huge Transformers fan she is. She loves most of the screen adaptations, as well as the IDW comics, has interacted with both Mairghread Scott and James Roberts, and the first episode of ‘Loose Canon’ was based on Starscream! Lindsay’s a good Transformers fan!

Phelous, on the other hand? Pffffft, he thinks that just because he collects Starscream toys, it somehow makes him a REAL fan like Lindsay?! Her way of liking Transformers is the only way, and clearly HE’S the bad fan! What a poser!!!

I love Todd in the Shadow’s reviews. Hell, he got me back into liking pop music. But lately I’m finding his videos harder and harder to enjoy and I’m not really sure why. I think maybe he’s gotten a little too cynical and judgmental on some of the music and artists he reviews.
