“The weather…I’m waiting it out. I came to visit someone and it’s hampering my departure.”
“Are you allergic to water now?”
xenathebeloved:
“Fair enough,” she smiled. “Yeah, I think this is the busiest I’ve ever seen this staff. Maybe they should look into hiring because of the influx of visitors, like yourself.”
“What has you here?”
madnessreignswitha-smile:
Chessur laughed, he liked this one. “You’re interesting, I like that. A warning for you then. Whatever your name is change it when you’re walking among the land dwellers. The monarchy, as per usual, is on the hunt for blood. Though luckily or perhaps unluckily it’s not Wonderland blood on the menu. That’ being said would you care for a drink?”
Chanson nodded, moving to sit. “What are you drinking?” He asked curiously.
bellesareringing:
Belle gave him a long look, confused at his request. Why would anyone want outdated papers? Still she nodded slowly, “Well I do keep an archive of old issues,” she answered as she got up from her desk and went to her filing cabinet and opened her archives, “How far back were you looking for?” She called out to him as she sifted through the drawer.
“I’m looking for issues from last October.” Chanson pulled at his jacket, peeling it off and stepping closer to where he could watch her as she sifted through the archived newspapers. “Do you read the papers?” He asked curiously.
bellesareringing:
Belle nodded to answer the man’s question as she pointed to a stand not too far from her desk, “Right over there, should have a few left of the most recent issue.” she said as she looked back at him, she couldn’t recall ever seeing him around town either, maybe he was newly visiting from Artemisia?
“I was actually hoping to find back issues...”
disharmxny:
“Ugh, you got my hopes up for nothing then.” Then an idea hit harmony, her disappointed frown quickly growing into a wild grin. “I guess I’ll just have to force you to have fun. Whether you like it or not.”
“Force? Whatever you’re thinking is probably a terrible idea.”

“Well aren’t you determined– travelling from far?” That much was clear considering how water pooled in the spot where the other Mer stood. “Oh no, you’re mistaken I don’t work here. I’m waiting here for a guest to come join me. The clerk just should be back shortly.”
“Stopping would have only made things worse. I stopped when I could- which is why I’m here.” Chanson dodged her question as best he could. He glanced over his shoulder as she said that she didn’t work there. “I’m sorry. I guess the storm must drive a lot of people to their door.” He offered.
bellesareringing:
The library was rather slow that day, probably due to the raging rainstorm that was occurring outside, not many people liked to venture out into town during a storm unless it was absolutely necessary, and while Bluebelle liked to believe that books were a necessity, the reality was that was probably not the case for most people. Still her head perked up from her desk when she heard the front door of the building open and she saw someone drenched in the rain enter. At his words she looked out the window and saw that it appeared to be raining even harder than it was when she got here a few hours ago, “It just seems to be getting worse and worse out there doesn’t it?” she asked with a slight smile. She looked back up at the man who entered, she couldn’t recall ever seeing him in here before, which excited her, she loved seeing new people at the library and introducing them to all types of books, “Might you be looking for something to read or just some place dry?” she asked as she still sat at her desk.
Chanson saw the girl and approached the desk, nodding as he followed her gaze towards the window. He looked back at her again, wondering why she was smiling at him like that.
“Potentially both. Do you have copies of the paper here?”
madnessreignswitha-smile:
“It is isn’t it.” Chessur purred looking at the newcomer. Plenty of people had taken shelter in the bar, drinks were being passed around by the gallon and the stories even more so. The lighting was low but even without the light Chessur could tell the man wasn’t as familiar as he appeared to be. Leaning forward a bit, Chessur gave the man a sniff. He was right. Most of the men in the bar smelled like sweat and beer among other things. This one smelled like salt and the sea. Chessur smiled looking up at the man and tilting his head curiously. “It’s a little far inland for you isn’t it? Did you come this far for the liquor? Because I do hate to disappoint you but everything here is a little dry.” He whispered.
Chanson shot the other a look, though if he was being honest he couldn’t pretend that he hadn’t known that this was a potential situation. Going against every instinct, he leaned further towards the stranger that had already invaded his space. “I’m sure I wouldn’t have come all this way for more of the same.”
disharmxny:
“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you smile, which was the first giveaway- wait are you saying you are having fun, then? This is a momentous occasion.”
“Hold onto your momentum, I’m definitely not having fun.”

Charlotte flipped through the log book, looking for a north side room. Ah there it was. “Yea, we’ve got one free.” She murmured, diving under the desk to grab the key. “Follow me, it’s up the stairs, so you get a bit of a view. We’ve got tea time everyday, but you’ve missed it today and it’s too windy anyhow.” She continued, trotting up the steps and walking straight till she hit the room at the end of the hallway, putting the key in the lock and turning it she opened the door. “There you go. Don’t loose the key, it’s the only one you’ll get and its not my problem if you get locked out if you lose it. Anything else you need?”
Chanson waited as she looked through the book, relaxing a little when she said they had one. He followed her up the stairs, nodding and reaching for the key in the door. “I think I’m okay. Thanks.”
silvertongue-goldenfingers:
Charlotte raised an eyebrow but let it drop. He could have been sleeping or something and that’s why he didn’t hear the impending downpour. It was hardly her business anyway. “Well we’ve got about sixish-no seven rooms available, any particular thing you’d prefer or shall I dart one for you.” She asked gesturing to the dart board on the wall. It was a much more fun way to decide guests rooms than just picking one.
Chanson picked at the collar of his shirt, uncomfortable with the way that it stuck to him. He was anxious to get in a room so he could run a bath and be done with this conversation.
“I want a room on the north side, if you have one.”
silvertongue-goldenfingers:
“What did you expect? It’s been brewing for ages or did you not hear the thunder?” Charlotte asked, fiddling with a pen behind the front desk. She was rather grateful to not be out in that. She had quite enough of water for now. She thought with a shudder. “Anyway, you want a room or what?”
“I had places to be.” Chanson shrugged, stepping towards the desk. “I do, yeah.”

Glancing up from her reading material Xena studied the owner of the intruding voice. Since the weather changed not many people ventured out of the inn and vice versa.
“How did you manage to make it through that?”
“I wasn’t going to stop.” Chanson shrugged, feeling that his soaked clothing was indication enough. “I need a room for the night.” He stepped closer, reaching into his bag for money to pay.
disharmxny:
“Oh, that’s right. You never have any fun do you?” Harmony teased, wondering just how far she’d be able to push him before she got herself into real trouble.
“What makes you think I’m not having fun?”
disharmxny:
“Same as you, I’d imagine.” Harmony shrugged, not fazed by his lack of response. “Unless you’re up to something no good that you haven’t told me about.” It wouldn’t exactly surprise her if Chanson had been given a secret mission that the Elders hadn’t cared to fill Harmony in on, but she’d be damned if she didn’t find out about it anyway.
“Why would I tell you about it? You already know that I wouldn’t be here for fun.”
