The Sky Sylph Maiden and her paperclay body. She'll also have paperclay bird feet and a fabric/textile abdomen & wings. Also a lot of feathers.

Indigo colors!

Final designs of the Maiden/Sky Sylph (the bird-looking one), Mother/Forest Fae (the bear-looking one with antlers), and Crone/Sea Sprite (the crabby, tentacly one). Following the final designs are some of this semester's adjustments to their faces. It's been pointed out to me that some of these designs are looking heavily based off of indigenous American mask designs. I suspect this happened because I was looking at some Pacific Northwest and Alaskan masks for inspiration on how to convey strength and sacredness. I am going to find a way to change the designs so that they don't carry such an air of appropriation, while keeping this fierce power and sacred quality.

All the dyed fabrics together!

Here is a monster photo dump of some of the dyes, yarns, and fabrics I worked on to get my fiber natural colors. The first two photos are of the fabric and yarns being mordanted in alum, which allows the color from the following dye baths to lock on with the wool & cotton. The yellow-orange dye was made with annatto, rusty red with madder root, and the berry purple with cochineal. The scummy black stew in the last photo is from my indigo dye vat.
