The warmth felt nice, the warmth of his best friend gave ashis arm swathed onto him. He didnât feel so alone anymore, he didnât feel as though breathing was difficult. Mark felt better, and he couldnât help but lean into his friend more and more 'til he realized heâs had both his arms around the latter.
âMmmâŠâ The boy nodded, agreeing with his best friend before letting out a smile after hearing his wish for both of them, âYeah, thatâd be nice wonât it.â Mark sighed a chuckle, snuggling more into the older.
âThanks, Yeollie,â Mark whispered, enough for the latter to hear.
The amount that Chanyeol and Mark had in common was probably a big reason as to why theyâd grown as close as they did so quickly. Music was the most influential shared interest, of course. It was the reason that theyâd even been lucky enough to meet. He could still remember the first time heâd come in contact with the younger boy.Â
He was a phenomenal musician and the older was entranced by his short performance at the coffeehouse that night. It almost didnât even happen, because Chan wouldnât have even been there if he wasnât trying to avoid his roommate at the time. His shift had ended hours ago, but he just had to get out, and thatâs where he found himself. It was baffling to imagine how small events can lead into such huge, impacting ones. He almost hated to think about it. He didnât like the thought of one tiny thing changing and ending up in some different situation.
Since theyâd known each other, Chanyeol found himself growing protective over the other. He hated the thought of someone mistreating him... It didnât even have to be someone. He hated the idea of anything mistreating him, life included. And, yes, that includes the rain as well. To some people, his fear may seem illogical. However, the older completely understood. Traumatizing events can easily scar you and lead to fears such as this. He had dealt with it firsthand himself. He was scared of thunderstorms, which he was occasionally teased for, but thatâs just how it happened.
It would have been impossible for Chanyeol to fight back the quiet chuckle that escaped as Mark leaned closer and closer until he was tightly pressed against his own body with arms wrapped around his frame. This action caused him to wrap his free arm around the smaller boy. He just wanted to ensure that he felt more at ease. He certainly seemed to, so that was a success.
As the rain hit against the roof and the thunder rumbled in the distance, the two boys sat there holding on to one another. Was it embarrassing? No. They were helping to comfort one another and that was never anything to be embarrassed about. Truthfully, that was something to be embraced, and so Chan was most certainly embracing it.
Smiling down at the other, he gave him a gentle squeeze. â You know you donât have to thank me for this. I want you to know that you can count on me. â
