hi! I'm not really checking this blog anymore as my interest in mcyt just. Dipped. It was nice while it lasted! If you want to contact me, I still get emails about asks, so that's your best bet for getting me to see your message! I might still check this blog sometimes but honestly, not really
Hey everyone, just so you know I'm still lurking here (and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon), but I can clearly tell that my interest in mcyt (and especially dsmp) had faded :(
However, the one thing I hate about falling out of fandoms is leaving so many ideas for fics unfinished, or never even mentioned. There's this one fwt fic I really wanted to write, but I never got even close to finishing it and now I have 0 motivation to continue it, and that's just one idea out of So Many!
But!! I realized that most of my notes are surprisingly neat and if I clean them up a bit, I could just share them! So that's what I'll be doing now, by queueing shorter bits of them and having them posted daily! I'll try it with the fwt fic first but in case I decide to do more, all the WIPs revealed that way will be under the cut:
ALSO: If you're curious about any fic I ever abandoned, feel free to ask about it too! I'll gladly tell you what I had planned for it before I gave up!
Devoted to peace, Devoted to you - A fwt fic set during the L'Manburg Revolution where Fundy becomes a hostage and accidentally seduces + falls in love with Dream. Ft. A LOT of misunderstandings
I loved my time in this fandom and I'm so glad to have met so many cool people here! I wouldn't have traded the past 2-3 years of my life for anything, and I'm proud of how much I've grown and created in that time! But still, I think it's time I take my leave
Before Dream leaves to "fulfill his duties" by making sure all of the GSMP's supplies are accounted for, he and Fundy share breakfast and try to figure out what Fundy's supposed to do with himself. They decide they can ask Eret if she'd be okay with him staying with her for the day because Fundy's not all that interested in taking stock and it's been a while since the two last spoke anyway.
Just like the last time Dream had to take care of something like this, he and Fundy drop by Eret's castle and ask if Fundy can stay there for a day, which Eret quickly agrees to. Once Dream leaves, they ask a couple of expected questions, like "Are you okay?" "Is this actually 100% what you want?" "You know you can come over here and ask for help if you need it, right?". They also say that they had a few L'Manburgians sneak all the way to their castle to ask them about him.
Once Fundy assures them that this is exactly what he wants and he really loves Dream, and also that he will let the L'Manburgians know what's actually happening once he can make sure Wilbur will take it well, Eret stops pressing the matter. Still, Fundy offers to tell him how this whole thing came to be, to... "convince him" or something.
Like 3 sentences in, he realizes that a detailed "I wanted to kill him and he wanted to kill me" story isn't really all that cute or romantic. Eret also looks concerned again, but Fundy keeps talking, and soon enough, when he gets to the parts where Dream was nice to him or the ones in which he started to notice that Dream is actually a REALLY cute guy, he ends up just gushing about how wonderful his boyfriend/fiance is.
By the time he's done, Eret is 110% sure Fundy is being very genuine, helplessly in love and also that Dream treats him well. She asks about the wedding plans when Fundy is done retelling his "love story" and he explains that they're considering having 2 weddings, one to really put a stop to the war and then a 2nd one that will feel like more of an actual wedding. He also shares a few ideas he and Dream came up with the previous evening and asks Eret for some feedback, which she gladly provides.
Time passes quickly and after the two of them have dinner, Dream is already done with his duties and ready to pick Fundy up. He also has a nice, new crossbow with him, which he proudly hands Fundy as a gift. Eret wishes them luck with the wedding and tells them to ask her for help if they ever need it, which they appreciate greatly.
Instead of heading straight home, they go to the archery training spot first so that Fundy can try out the crossbow and see if he still remembers what Dream taught him the previous day. On their way there, they also go over the things Eret suggested for the wedding, and well... their plans are starting to feel more and more solid every day.
True to what they agreed to the day before, Dream asks Fundy if he's up for that archery date today. Fundy agrees, his shoulder is doing really well and he can't wait to show off how good at this he actually is. They grab a bow, some arrows, and head out.
On their way there, they stop at the community house and Dream grabs a crossbow. He asks if Fundy's ever used one and Fundy admits that no, but he's really good with a bow. Dream says that a crossbow is a good replacement for a bow if someone has trouble mastering it. Fundy INSISTS he can shoot well.
They get to the clearing with haybales and Dream hands Fundy a bow. Fundy proves that he does, in fact, know how to aim well. He knows how to aim and shoot really well. Dream may-or-may-not be feeling pretty smitten. They spend some time just practicing and talking about how they learned archery first, etc. Dream also shoots the crossbow a few times, but they both stick to bows more.
They take a break a few hours later, they sit down by some nearby pond or river and share lunch. For some time, they just sit there and talk, but Dream soon catches Fundy glancing at the crossbow he set down at his side. He asks if Fundy would like to give it a try and Fundy accepts the offer eagerly.
They head back and Fundy gets the crossbow. He's never used one before, though, so he aims it way too high. Dream decides to help him aim by, uhhhhhh standing really close behind him and steering his hands. It's a bit hard to focus on the instructions he's giving with how flustered Fundy is, but he does manage to get quite a few good shots.
Dream says he can get Fundy his own crossbow if he'd like. He's supposed to help look through the Greater SMP's supplies again the next day, so there's a chance he'll manage to get one then, and if not he'll just make one. Fundy really appreciates that.
They head home to make sure Dream doesn't feel all sore and tired the next day and start to brainstorm some base ideas for their wedding. There's a lot to figure out about it, so the sooner they agree on some concepts the better.
They decide to sleep in for a bit as a "celebration" or something, but eventually Fundy and Dream leave Dream's house to get their hands on some food and then to start dealing with the stuff they need to handle. As they walk, they run into Punz, who says people were getting worried about not seeing Dream anywhere since yesterday evening. Dream and Fundy exchange looks and Dream tells Punz to gather everyone before lunch because they need to talk.
After Punz leaves, they quickly get the food for a light breakfast and start to talk about what to share. They agree that Dream can tell his people everything BUT Fundy's original plan to murder him because they're unsure how they'd take that. They also try to decide when will Fundy tell the L'Manburgians about the situation but agree that still needs to wait. He can't tell everyone but his father, so they need to see how Wilbur is taking things so far and go from there.
Before lunch, Dream and Fundy meet up with basically everyone from the Greater SMP and Dream explains that the whole wedding thing is a bit more genuine than it seems because they do Really like each other and they've been on dates and all. The wedding will be a good reason to postpone the war until they can figure out more, but for now, Fundy's staying here and he's to be treated well.
The people are surprised, of course, but ehhh, this is better than whatever it looked like before, and it does explain some things about Dream's behavior while Fundy was a hostage so... sure. They can live with this. So they welcome him, and during a giant shared lunch, they even give some recommendations for what to show Fundy in the Greater SMP if he's actually here to stay!
After the meal, Dream does give Fundy a little tour and takes the recommendations into consideration. Fundy is trying So Hard to keep track of all the cool spots for dates he can see. At some point, they pass by the archery training spot and Dream asks Fundy if the whole getting-shot thing made him lose interest in archery. Fundy assures him it didn't and also admits to being fake-bad at shooting the first time they went there
Dream clearly doubts that, but he suggests they go again sometime soon, then. Fundy declares that that's a lovely date idea and Dream agrees. Then, Fundy asks what are they, actually?? Because they're technically dating but also about to get married, so...??? Boyfriends? Fiances?? What??? They agree to go for "Fiances" around other people but "boyfriends" when alone because while it sounds less serious, it also sounds Good.
They finish the day off by watching the sunset together. Their marriage idea was really great, wasn't it? They're happy and 0 bad things happened to them!
The two weeks are up and Fundy's meant to head home. Dream has no ideas for delaying that without having all of L'Manburg turning up at his door demanding to have Fundy back. They share breakfast, Fundy goes to say goodbye to Eret, and they head to the meeting spot with Wilbur.
As they walk, Fundy tells him he really wishes he could stay and Dream wishes he could have him around, but again, they don't know how to explain that idea to Wilbur. Then, for the 2nd time in this story, Fundy delivers the most horrible-idea-that-could-only-end-badly ever (the first being volunteering himself as a hostage). He goes "Actually, here's an idea: Let's get married! I'll tell my dad I seduced you to get more time and now we'll have an arranged wedding! We can explain what actually happened once my dad gets used to the idea more."
Dream, being just as wise about this situation, just... agrees. Yeah, let's get fake-arranged-married and ignore all of our problems! What could go wrong? So they meet up with Wilbur and Dream takes the lead, saying that actually, they can avoid the war BUT that'd be through marriage BUT that's already agreed on, future Father-In-Law :)
Wilbur demands to speak to Fundy alone and Fundy tells him that the (made-up) "plan" is to marry Dream for power and/or kill him somewhere in the meantime. He's thought about it, he's got things under control. This is fine. If Wilbur was reluctant to send him to the Greater SMP in the first place, he's hating every second of their current situation at least twice as much, but... they're not really in the place to argue. Put on the spot, he agrees.
The 3 of them head to L'Manburg to grab some of Fundy's things and break the news to everyone there. During Fundy's 2-week absence, Niki and Jack also arrived there to fight in the war, which means two times more explaining the current situation and two times more people who look inches away from snapping and trying to end this whole ordeal right there with murder. Wilbur's "acceptance" of the new arrangement is the only thing that keeps relative peace.
Fundy packs what little he has and then he and Dream are offered a meal before they leave. Fundy accepts but Dream declines, claiming that with the tension he wouldn't be surprised to find poison on his plate. He does stick around long enough for Fundy to eat before they leave. After a bit of an emotional send-off, they start to make their way back to the Greater SMP.
On their way back, Fundy shares some of the food he was given "for the road" and they agree that they'll either need to tell everyone what actually happened between them before the wedding or just hold a 2nd one later, because even this visit had the vibes of a funeral.
They get back, and Dream's people are more or less ready to attack. Right. Dream tells Fundy to go to his home and unpack while he explains what's going on. He isn't entirely truthful about the situation but mentions the arranged marriage to "get the upper hand over Wilbur". Even his people seem a bit confused but they let him be so he starts heading home.
Just before he can enter, Eret catches up to him and she is Angry. She says that being "neutral" is out of the window if Dream's keeping the war going and doing things like this!! Fundy's not some item Dream can keep, he's a person who was supposed to be sent back home, what is Dream thinking?! Dream is too taken off guard to even argue, but the noise draws Fundy's attention so he goes outside. Then, he and Dream try to "vaguely" discuss what they can admit here.
"I think we should tell him" "If you want to do that, go ahead." "Are you okay with that?" "Yeah, if- I think we should tell them, actually. I don't think they'd believe me though." "Right, that's fair, so do I say it?" "Yeah, you can." "All of it?" "Well, the beginning was rough, but if you think it's alright then go ahead." "Yeah, it was... but it's better to be honest I think." While Eret is just the physical embodiment of "??????".
So... they tell her. They give the whole truth, that they were kind of planning to kill each other but that's all said and done, they honestly just want to sit around and hold hands now. Which is Better than murder, right? And sure the wedding is rushed and ideally, they'd want quite a few months before such a thing but it IS a good excuse to postpone the war so this is what they're going with.
Eret is... really confused, this is NOT what he expected, but at the same time at least??? Fundy's safe??? And there's no more war???? For now?? They ask him not to tell others because they want to figure out how to explain everything better before they share the news, and he agrees to that. They finally part ways, with Eret going back to his castle and Dream and Fundy going to get themselves some food.
At Dream's (or their, at this point??) place, they eat dinner and talk a bit more. They agree that actually, Eret's initial reaction was very fair and probably what everyone else is thinking, and Dream decides he wants to tell his friends the truth too. Fundy says he's okay with that, but he wants to take things slow when it comes to updating his father. One piece of information at a time, get him all acclimated to the change and such.
Those are all things for their future selves to worry about, though. For now, it's getting late and there is a very comfortable bed close by. They go to lie down and fall asleep in each other's arms, satisfied to have won themselves some more time.
Dream wakes up and is literally just So Confused. Him falling asleep next to Fundy wasn't a mockery nor a show of trust, it was an accident and How Did This Happen??? Fundy wakes up soon after him and complains that his shoulder hurts today. Dream jumps at the excuse to get some fresh air and takes him over to Ponk's.
They do grab some food on the way there and Fundy's arrow wound gets looked at. It still looks fine, according to Ponk, so they feel a bit calmer as they leave. Fundy decides that this is his chance to perhaps convince Dream not to do the whole war thing, so says he's glad he has someone like Dream here, how he didn't expect to feel any kind of comfort as a hostage but thanks to him, things aren't as horrible as they could be. He knows this is a bit forward but-
Dream interrupts him by saying he needs to tell him something, but he'd rather do it somewhere more... private. Can they make a little detour and stop at the 2nd floor of the community house since no one should be there right now? Fundy says sure. A part of him is screaming because he almost ended up just fucking confessing??? As if "pls don't destroy L'Manburg For Me <3" would work???? The other part of him is also screaming because is Dream going to confess to him?????????? Is that even a thing that could happen????
They make it to the spot Dream picked and sit down. He seems nervous, so Fundy lets him take his time with this. Is this actually going to be a confession?? Sure, Dream's been okay with Fundy calling their time together dates and they even held hands at one point but like?? Still???? They never put a name on this!! Finally, Dream looks at him.
"...I need to be honest with you. When I agreed to take you in as a hostage two weeks ago, I uhhhh MaybeWasPlanningToKillYou BUTT Uhhhhhh I changed my mind?? And now uh. Yeah. I think I. mhm."
Honesty is always great, right? So after his, Dream could even go a step further and tell Fundy he- He watches Fundy basically blue-screen at that, just freeze in place with a blank expression for what feels like hours, and he starts to doubt that. He goes to reassure him that no, really, he won't hurt him, their time together just gave him a lot to think about and-
Fundy interrupts him and decides to go for the same thing, to be 100% honest. How bad could that end, right? So after he gets Dream to promise he won't hurt him no matter what he says next, he admits that he was originally considering doing the same?? Maybe???
They just awkwardly sit together after that. How do you move on from this????
They move on when Fundy asks if it's cool if he keeps flirting now because this is a lot to unpack but he does like flirting with Dream. Dream tells him sure, the flirting is actually kinda nice. Fundy asks if Dream wants to go on a date, then. Dream says sure again.
They get out of the community house and slowly, they unpack what they just learned about each other. They start talking again and they do agree that this whole... honesty thing is a great foundation for trust. They also agree that There Is 100% A Thing Between Them. ALSO Fundy going back to L'Manburg makes that Thing difficult. ALSO ALSO they can ignore that for now. So how about that date?
They grab some food for lunch later and head out into the forest by the Greater SMP. They walk around for a bit, talking, and then settle down for a little picnic or whatever. By then, the tension of learning they wanted to kill each other is basically gone and they're getting Really comfortable. To the point where they decide to carve out their initials in a tree to promise themselves that they WILL find a way to make this work.
After all, with a start as bumpy as "I will murder you in about 3-5 business days" what could possibly beat them?
Once they head back, Fundy admits to being a bit tired already, so Dream tells him to stay at his place while he tries to maybe figure out How To Delay The War???? Besides, a lie-down in a comfortable bed will probably do Fundy's shoulder some good. That... sounds about right, so Fundy agrees. He tries not to think that he's supposed to go back home tomorrow.
In the morning, Dream gets the two of them breakfast and helps Fundy to change the bandages on his shoulder. They're both so flustered about it that they don't notice that the feeling's mutual. Once they're done, Dream suggests they should stretch their legs, so they go for a walk.
They walk around for a while before settling down somewhere quiet and just... sitting there, talking. Fundy's a bit hesitant to do any flirting at first, but remembers he'll probably look suspicious if he doesn't, so he decides to Just Go For It and takes Dream's hand. Dream doesn't say anything. Neither does he. They are just holding hands now. Huh.
"...So is this a date haha?" ",,,I don't know, is it?" ",,,sure", and then they slowly try to ease into having a normal conversation again. They somehow manage after a bit only for Punz to turn up and tell Dream people are looking for him. They have two days left before the war starts again and they need him for checking their gear.
Only two days??? Uh oh.
Dream says right, of course, right away, give me 5 minutes! And then he takes Fundy back to Fundy's "house". He does pause briefly and considers letting Fundy stay at his place, but Fundy says he's "okay" with staying in the house cell and Dream has no time to think about that too hard.
Fundy lies down on his (oh so miserably rough compared to Dream's) bed and just stays there. He's thinking and thinking about how now he messed up because he likes Dream a lot and now in two days the guy will just?? Try to murder everyone Fundy's ever cared for?? And that is Not how a relationship starts so-
Eret comes across his "house" and tries to check on him. He assures them that he's fine but just worried about the war that's about to start again and uhhhh oh yeah actually when's the last time he ate something? Surely it's time for lunch by now. So yeah he's stressed and hungry, that's all! Eret seems worried by that response and they go to get him some food. He's grateful for that.
He's alone until it's dark after that. It's only after the sun sets that Dream finally comes over to him. He says he's very sorry about how this day went but he's brought food and Fundy must be starving! Also, can he come inside and just... talk? Fundy decides to tell him Eret got him some food but welcomes him inside anyway.
Over the ridiculous amount of food Dream brought, they end up having a little heart-to-heart. Dream admits he's unsure about the war either right now, he's not sure what to do or say to change what's happening though, he's just at a loss- Fundy tries to tell himself that the compassion he shows is because he thinks he can convince Dream to surrender, not just because he feels bad for the guy, specifically.
They talk and talk and talk for at least an hour. At some point, Fundy gets back to telling stories about what growing up over there was like when he suddenly feels Dream leaning on his shoulder a bit?? He looks over and he's Literally Asleep???? On His Shoulder????
This COULD be taken as a mockery. "I know you're no threat so I'll fall asleep right here and you won't do anything", expressed with no words. Fundy still decides to take it as a show of trust. After a bit of hesitance, he helps Dream to lie down and settles down at his side. The bed's small and it's not a very comfortable position, but that's fine. They can continue talking or uhhh whatever in the morning.
They wake up late because apparently, the chaos of the previous day really left them exhausted. Once they do finally wake up and Fundy affirms that his shoulder feels more or less fine, Dream tells him to stay here while he gets them a late breakfast/early lunch.
Once he's alone and no longer so tired, Fundy finds himself eyeing that sword on the wall again. He walks over, takes it, and thinks. Dream wouldn't expect an attack now for sure, so he could just...!
He... admits to himself that "being tired and sleepy" wasn't the only reason he refused to do this the previous night. He starts to realize that maybe all that flirting got to his head a bit too much. That maybe he should start looking for other ways to stop the war or just give up, because there's no way he'll be able to actually kill Dream.
Uh oh.
Even though he just realized he doesn't want to kill him, Dream still returns while Fundy's holding the sword. He somehow manages to play that off, though, putting it back on the wall after saying something about how it's a nice sword but Fundy noticed it was uneven. Dream does get a tiny bit quiet at that, clearly thinking, but then tells Fundy to follow him to the table and they eat the food he brought.
Later, they go back to Ponk's to have her make sure Fundy's arm is healing well. It is, apparently, and the risk of any complications happening is already low enough to let Fundy stay somewhere on his own, probably. Dream still tells him he can stay over if he uhhh prefers the comfortable bed?? Surely that's helping with the recovery! Fundy accepts the offer but with his new realizations, he can't help feeling a bit flustered.
Once back at his place, Dream takes Fundy to the bedroom and suggests he should lie down and rest, probably. No need to exhaust himself. Dream needs to attend to some things, but he'll be back soon. Just as he's about to leave, he turns and takes the same sword Fundy held in the morning and eyes Fundy.
This is as good a chance as any, he thinks. It's already been over a week and now Fundy is lying in front of him, probably too injured and unsuspecting to even think about avoiding a swing, and clearly he won't give Dream any information, so he can just...
He can't. He puts the sword back, saying something about how Fundy didn't hang it up evenly either, and leaves. His "things to attend to" is just walking around outside of his windows' view and trying to figure out why he can't bring himself to kill Fundy. Why he went out of his way to save him from a zombie a few days prior and why he panicked so much when Fundy got hurt. He already knows why, he just struggles to admit that Fundy's flirting really got to him and-
Warning: Injury (not fatal), also this one gets long.
This time as Dream brings over the breakfast, he lets Fundy know that most of the people from the Greater SMP are training today. He doesn't need to, as he's been keeping his archery at a good level and is Great in physical combat too, so they can go for like. A walk or something.
Fundy agrees, and tries to subtly find a way to approach that clearing on which Dream showed off his archery a few days before, assuming that Dream's people are training there and it'd be good to get a look at that. To make it look more like an accident when they do approach it, he walks and walks and walks while talking a lot to hopefully make Dream less cautious of their surroundings.
It's working! An hour or so later, they're approaching that spot and Dream seems awfully unaware of that! They're almost there, almosttttt.... just keep talkingggg..... There's suddenly a wishing noise in the air, quickly followed by a sharp pain in his shoulder.
Dream's not sure when they got so close to the training grounds, but one moment he and Fundy are talking and the next moment Fundy yelps and falls back onto the ground and There Is An Arrow In His Shoulder!!! There's blood!!! Blood should be INSIDE but it's OUTSIDE!!! And he is clearly In Pain!!! WHAT NOW???
Luckily, Fundy's initial scream was loud enough to get the attention of the people training in the clearing, so they all run over to see what the hell happened and who got hurt. They're less worried once they realize "it's only the hostage" that got hurt, but Dream still insists they need to help him now. They didn't bring any potions of healing or anything to the training grounds, so there's not much they can do right now, but Ponk's place is nearby and someone heard somewhere they're a doctor now??
Well. The first thing they're offered once they get there are essential oils, and that's a tad concerning. Still, Ponk does agree to help with the arrow problem in a "normal" way and gets it out. It's about that time that they realize that someone was using Tipped Arrows!! During Practice!! And now Fundy's still poisoned. Dream is sent away to go look for milk or honey.
In the meantime, Eret somehow catches wind of the situation and instantly comes over to check on Fundy. Even without a cure, the poison's effects are slowly getting weaker and he's well enough to speak with them. He assures them that this was an accident, the arrow wasn't meant for him, he's fine. Then, Dream finally shows up with a bottle of honey and Eret asks to speak to him.
They try to find out what the hell happened that Fundy got shot and Dream, not wanting to tell them "I got so lost in listening to him (which I refuse to think about) I didn't realize we got close to the training grounds and now I feel terrible", settles for a "He got shot, what more do you want :/ He's fine now. Maybe in some pain. I don't care. Do you care?? Anyway I am Leaving."
This is very concerning, so Eret sticks around until Fundy's better and decides to let him know what Dream said. If it was just them, Fundy would probably let himself look hurt over what he just heard but Ponk is also here, so he goes right ahead and claims he doesn't expect Dream to care, he's a hostage here, this is just temporary and they don't have to Like each other!!
This doesn't really align with how Fundy's been talking about Dream and this whole situation so far, but Eret assumes that this change could something to do with The Wound In His Shoulder and doesn't press the issue. Almost as soon as they leave, Dream shows up again. Ponk lets him and Fundy know that the wound seems fine but there's still a chance it could reopen or something, so they need to be careful and keep an eye on him.
Dream asks Fundy if he'd like to stay at his house tonight then. This, in turn, doesn't really align with what Dream apparently said about Fundy to Eret. Still, Fundy takes him up on that offer and while he flirts a bit on the way there, he's a bit too tired to keep that up as they make it inside. There, Dream suddenly remembers he has only one bed at home. Fundy says that's not an issue so they. Share.
During the night, as Dream is asleep, Fundy wakes up. He moves around a bit, checking if his companion won't wake too, but he seems to be out for good. Quietly, Fundy gets out of bed and gets a look around the room. He spots a sword hanging on the wall and comes closer.
He could end this now. He could take it, kill Dream, and leave. No one will see him leave in the night and no one will know a thing until morning. His shoulder won't stop him from running. After what Dream apparently said, he won't even feel bad about this, probably. He can prevent the war here and now-
He's a bit tired tonight, though. And the bed is so warm. And it's sooo comfortable, too. Not to mention, he's getting his shoulder fixed, he shouldn't do anything like that until it's healed. Or until he's had more sleep. He gets back into bed and tries very hard not to think about any other reasons he doesn't want to kill Dream now.
[Note]: As a reward for getting through this hell of a post, I will now give vague information about what will come up again :D
Dream panicking and saying things he doesn't mean at all, causing nothing but conflict like here with Eret WILL happen again.
Fundy getting poisoned a tinyyy little bit is also not a one-time thing :]
When will these happen again? How? With who? Who knows! (I do, and in a few days so will you)
The breakfast Fundy gets is a Truly Impressive one this time. Dream says it's an apology for how yesterday went, and Fundy says he accepts that apology. He also asks if Dream has any important duties to attend to today, to which Dream shrugs and says that unless something new comes up, then no.
Fundy says they can go to the forest and he can show Dream how to tell which berries are poisonous and not! A walk through nature would make a decent date too, after all! Surprisingly, Dream doesn't object to Fundy calling it a date and says "Sure, let me just let someone know we're going away and grab some things."
They go on that walk/date and it's nice. Fundy talks a bit about what growing up in L'Manburg was like in hopes of maybe making Dream less eager to burn the place to the ground? They also collect quite a bit of berries, so when the time for lunch comes, they end up sitting down and eating those. It's really nice!
Dream decides to show off his archery skills again (to make sure Fundy knows not to run!!! Not because he really likes it when Fundy complements him-- yeah okay, he does like that. But it's still Threatening!!!!), and once he's done, they continue wandering around. Eventually, they come across a cave! They peek inside, curious about what they'll find!
They find a small swarm of zombies. Uh oh. Fundy doesn't have any weapons and Dream only brought his bow, which is rather useless in close combat, so they turn and run. Except, Fundy falls behind a bit and one of the zombies gets dangerously close to him.
Briefly, he thinks it's very dumb that he survived basically a week in the Greater SMP by flirting with Dream only to die to some random mob. Then, Dream actually comes back for him and tackles the zombie??? They make it back to civilization safely after that but what???
Dream realizes he could've let that zombie maul Fundy and deliver whatever was left to L'Manburg, saying "there was nothing we could've done :)", that would leave them all heartbroken and unsure of what to believe, it'd be so good!!! But he didn't. He helped Fundy. This is probably something he should think about. He doesn't.
The rest of the day passes peacefully, though, and they even laugh about the whole thing once the emotions settle a bit. Fundy absolutely does take his time to write out an entire epic story about Dream, oh so strong and brave, saving him from a ferocious zombie that interrupted their romantic date in his book, just in case someone checks it again.
In the morning, Dream gives Fundy some food but says he's in a rush today, still has to do some things, but he will come and get him around the time for dinner. Fundy doesn't even get a lot of time to flirt with him by the time he disappears. Oh well.
He sits around doing nothing for a few hours, writes a page or two about how cool and mysterious and hot Dream is, and then gets lunch. From Eret, meaning Dream's still busy. They ask him if he's done something, uh... "unusual" recently, because Dream asked them about L'Manburgian food yesterday and they've been feeling a bit confused since.
Fundy tells them he's just being nice and honest :) About what he thinks about Dream :) Maybe it's about that :) While internally trying to figure out why the hell would Dream want to know anything about L'Manburg. Is he trying to like, stage getting a gift from L'Manburg??? What is this???
After Eret leaves and Fundy spends a few more hours sitting there, trying to figure out why did Dream promise him dinner, and then asked Eret for food recommendations and if he's going to use those recommendations for evil or not.
Well. The time comes and Dream shows up. Fundy decides to kick this off by asking if this is a haha date (which is something he's asked about other meetings a time or two just to see how Dream would react) only to be met with "Actually. You've been joking about that for a while so I figured we might have something like that...?" which???
Is he trying to fluster Fundy back? Trying to get him to lower his guard?? What??? Luckily, with how long Fundy spent trying to prepare mentally for this, he's quick to react with excitement and cheerfully follows Dream to wherever the dinner's supposed to be. He's still panicking and trying to figure out what is this internally, but that's none of anyone's business.
The dinner looks impressive. It's one of the fanciest meals they've been able to afford during the revolution, a mix of potatoes, some bread, and berries. He hadn't had this in weeks, if not months, because of low supplies, and oh how he's missed the taste! He's not sure if Dream was aiming for making him homesick or something but if that's so, then the joke's on him, this is probably the nicest thing he could've done.
Except that the berries are awfully red. Redder than the edible berries one could find the forest separating L'Manburg and the Greater SMP. Just as red as the poisonous berries found in that forest. Is this an attempt at murder??? Why would Dream go for poison and not like?? Just stab him??? And why are the berries just as red on Dream's plate????
He asks if Dream knows those are poisonous, and Dream seems genuinely confused. Fundy explains that those redder berries are a different type, they're actually so poisonous they can be used in potions instead of spider eyes! They... really shouldn't eat these.
Dream, who was 100% just trying to make Fundy start trusting him and Totally didn't want to do something nice for him (that's a lie), feels... really dumb for this one. To save face, he just lets Fundy pick out some food and they have that for dinner. They still eat together, in Fundy's "house", and even after the meal they stay for a bit, just talking.
Fundy realizes that he could've just let Dream eat those berries and all of this would be over. Oh well. At least the dinner is nice. By the time it's starting to get late and Dream is still there, talking, he decides to fake being verrryyyy comfortable with Dream and pretends to fall asleep. Just to see what happens, anot to like... to prove that he's not upset about the originally planned dinner?
When Dream realizes Fundy is "asleep", he laughs quietly and just leaves. He doesn't even try to find his book or anything! Strange.
As Dream is leaving, he is internally screaming because??? He literally almost poisoned the guy and Fundy still just fell asleep next to him??? Huh???? If this keeps happening he's gonna start to feel bad about this whole thing!!! What the hell??
In the morning, Dream brings Fundy some food and "casually" asks if he's been writing. Fundy says yes, so Dream asks if he could see. Fundy thinks back to what he wrote in the book last evening and Oh God It'd Be Better If He Wrote Down All Of His Secrets There This Is Horrible-
Dream says it's alright if not, he was just asking! Anyway, Fundy must be getting sooo bored of his house, why don't they go on a little walk? Stretch their legs and all? Fundy agrees and as they start walking, Dream stops by his house and grabs a bow and some arrows from inside.
He asks if Fundy knows how to shoot and Fundy confirms proudly before realizing he'd be better off lying. He decides to add that he's not very good at it. Dream tells him that's fine and leads him to some flat piece of land with a few haybales on the other side. Dream says that they can practice for a bit, for fun, and also because from what he's seen, L'Manburgians can barely aim and he's starting to think he'll feel bad for them once the war resumes.
Fundy gets to shoot a few times, but misses on purpose and does a big show of celebrating the few times he hits the haybales at all. Then Dream gets his hands on the bow and doesn't miss a single shot. He even goes on to do a few trick shots! Fundy, knowing that in less than 2 weeks they'll be against each other on the battlefield, finds his skill concerning. He deals with it by calling him a "show-off" and trying to flirt again.
That certainly throws Dream off a bit, to the point where he ends up handing Fundy the bow when he goes to collect the arrows they shot even though some are still next to them. As he watches Dream walking to the haybales, Fundy realizes that technically... well... He could shoot him right now. It wouldn't be honorable, sure, but it would get L'Manburg one step closer to peace, and no one else is around! He could shoot and run-
He doesn't. He tries to tell himself that it's because somebody is probably lurking around, that he wouldn't get back home before they caught up to him, or... something. Not because he's having fun right now, or because he just came up with the cheesiest thing to say the next time Dream tries to show off-
Before he can change his mind, Dream is back at his side with the other arrows and they get back to shooting. Not long after, [someone who I hadn't specified in the original notes and can't really pick now?? Just a random person from the Greater SMP] joins finds them and calls Dream over, saying it's urgent. Dream asks if "It's serious too."
"Uh, no. No, it’s- Listen, it’s not… a *danger*, but it’s… strange. Not in a bad way! I think. Just confusing. To me. It’s… look, can I just show you?? It’s not an active danger tho. Just a bit surprising. I don’t know if it’s surprising. It’s… uh…"
Dream says "Fine" and apologizes to Fundy for having to cut this short, but he has to handle that urgent something. He quickly drops Fundy off in his "house" and leaves with [same person as before]. Fundy glances around and easily spots his book lying on his bed while he specifically left it under the pillow. Huh.
Was that whole urgent/serious/danger thing a... code? Did Dream have someone go into his house while they were away to check his book??
(Yes, he did. And they were supposed to find him and either tell him they just finished keeping watch and things seem fine, if whatever Fundy wrote down was normal, or said there's a serious threat approaching if Fundy wrote down assassination plans or something. There was no code-word for "embarrassingly lovesick note about how handsome Dream is")
Fundy gets over the initial wave of embarrassment he feels (even tho he 100% didn't mean what he wrote, he tells himself!!) and thinks this is very funny, actually. He thinks it's less funny when he gets no food.
Dream turns up at Eret's castle. Eret can't even finish saying that they hadn't seen Fundy so they can't tell him if he's magically suspicious now, but they doubt it, when Dream interrupts them and asks if there's some like... traditional L'Manburg food that's easy to make and good. Confused, Eret does give him some recommendations and never gets an explanation.
Dream brings Fundy some food around the time it's starting to get dark and explains that the "emergency" took some time to handle. He also assures Fundy that while this dinner might be just some random foods thrown together, tomorrow he's going to get him something good, he promises.
A part of Fundy is worried. A bigger part is curious, and maybe even excited! He says he can't wait for that
The next morning, Dream brings Fundy breakfast but as he's handing it over, he says they won't be able to spend time together today. As the leader, he needs to help his people with checking how many supplies they have and he just can't have the hostage wandering around while all of their weapons and such are in view.
Fundy asks if that means he's supposed to just sit in his "house" for the entire day and Dream pauses before telling him that actually, if he'd prefer, there's one more person not allowed to poke around while they work. That would be Eret. So, Fundy can spend the day under their watch or alone.
Fundy still has some very conflicting feelings about Eret, but they've seemed helpful so far, so he decides to go with that option. Dream walks him there and after a very brief talk with Eret, he leaves to fulfill his duties. Being alone with Eret is... tense.
Fundy feels like somehow, they can tell what his plan here truly is. They don't flat-out ask him if he's trying to do something, but they do say that Dream approaches them whenever he learns they've seen him and asks if they think Fundy's acting suspiciously. They also assure him they always say "No" but ask him to be careful. That's it, they don't push any further. That's for the best, probably.
The two of them have lunch together and things get more and more comfortable. It's almost as though the betrayal never happened. It'd probably be better if they actually talked about it but this is good enough.
Later that day, Eret offers to give Fundy a dagger for protection, if he thinks that'd be wise. Fundy's very tempted, but he doubts he'd be able to sneak it past Dream, so he refuses it. The fact that they offered by itself does tell him that while he's not fully ready to trust them (and they still need to talk a lot, probably), Eret's probably the closest thing to an ally he has.
Dream picks him up from Eret's care/watch/whatever in the evening, and since Fundy's had a lot of time to think of new ways to flirt with/fluster Dream, he does not hold back while the man walks him in the direction of his "house."
When he does finally pause to catch his breath, Dream says he has something for him. That... could be very good or very bad! It could mean Dream's growing... fond? Of him? Or it could mean he's about to get stabbed. One way to find out, so he just hums an "oh?"
Dream hands him a book and quill. Oh God, he remembered Fundy mentioning that 1) his thoughts were getting all jumbled up and 2) writing things down usually helped. He listened. That's probably the best outcome he could've gotten.
He commits to his plan and hugs Dream as a thank you. He still doesn't get stabbed (and Dream's heart probably skips a few beats, which it shouldn't, this was meant as a part of his new plan!!! Totally not because he saw the book while counting supplies and it made him think of Fundy!!)!
Once he's left alone for the night, he's a bit tempted to write out his plan. He quickly realizes that that'd be very stupid, someone will most likely take a look at that book sooner or later, but that gives him a new idea. He writes an entire essay gushing about how nice Dream's been to him, and how cute he is, and how Fundy expected hell but every second around Dream feels like heaven but he's not sure what to do now and--
Basically, The Butcher Army's/L'Manburg's hit list, page 5, but no accusations, just pure "Dream is amazing and I think I love him".
Fundy wakes up to... no breakfast. He wonders if it's because he got to pick his own dinner last night or if Dream is still out hunting and forgot to arrange anything. Well, after some time of wondering, Sapnap brings him a singular apple and mutters somehow about how this is all stupid and useless.
Joke's on him, this apple is probably as much food as he'd get for the entire day during the revolution.
Dream arrives not long after, claiming that he just got back from his trip and asking if Fundy had a normal breakfast. Fundy decides that this is his opportunity to check if the "only-a-single-apple" thing was planned, so he says "Yeah, normal breakfast!" and watches Dream's reaction. He looks... genuinely relieved.
He makes casual conversation after that, "How are you" and all. Fundy says he's getting a bit antsy and could use some fresh air (in order to gather more information on the Greater SMP's layout) and Dream offers to take him on a walk. They talk and for once, Fundy can't tell if Dream is trying to get something out of him or not. When he's asked what he usually does to untangle his thoughts, he's honest: He likes to write things out.
It's then that they run into Sapnap, who is very confused to see them both. He asks Dream why he's walking the prisoner, and Dream reminds him that Fundy's more of a hostage and should be treated like a person. The answer only baffles him more, but he accepts that and leaves.
Dream explains that some people are upset that he agreed to take Fundy in as a hostage because they were convinced that despite their "lack of resources" (he's still sticking to that lie) they could've kept fighting. They reach the edge of a forest that separates their countries and sit down.
For a moment, Fundy feels like being genuine and admits that he's starting to feel rather homesick. Theh he remembers he shouldn't look so vornulable, so he continues with a "haha but your presence here is making me feel much better haha-" and they continue chilling by the forest.
Eventually, Dream says he has to do something important so Fundy needs to go back to his "house". Jokingly, Fundy's like" oh nooo please don't,, I can be nice and follow you around,," and Dream tells him maybe some other time. That's still a bit of a win so he peacefully lets Dream take him back to his "house".
Sapnap is also the one to bring him food for the night, but this time it's as much food as he usually gets these days. He's also less hostile, though clearly still unsure what to make of this. Well, Fundy couldn't care less, everything seems fine right now.
Dream brings Fundy breakfast and says he's so sorry there was no dinner last evening, he's sure he told someone to bring him some food! It... doesn't feel genuine, but Fundy doesn't think pointing that out would end well, so he just accepts the apology. Dream says he needs to go "investigate" and leaves.
While Fundy tries to "relax" and weighs the ups and downs of continuing his attempts at flustering Dream, Eret comes across his new "house" and they end up just talking. Fundy mentions how things are fine, and even though he had no dinner he's still getting much more food than back home. Eret seems concerned.
They leave, and a few hours later, they return with Fundy's lunch. They only look more worried than before. They tell Fundy to be careful because something is up with Dream for sure. When he asked them to bring Fundy the food they couldn't have left faster, there was just something... off about him.
After Fundy's done eating, Dream comes over and tells him to follow, they're going for a walk. With Eret's warning, Fundy feels nervous, but doesn't have much choice. Instead of "subtle inquires", Dream straight-up asks Fundy if he wants to be there. If this was all part of some plan. Come clean now, or never.
Fundy doubles down and tries for pity points again. He goes on a giant rant about how Wilbur made him do this with no regard for his feelings, how they've never seen eye to eye and he's a horrible father. (Not really, he thinks Wilbur is an okay dad. He just needs to make this more convincing.) Then he continues talking about how the war was horrible too and how strange he feels here because he's safer, in a way, but it feels wrong, and how seeing Eret here is weird too-
Dream listens carefully but he's awfully quiet. That's either very good or very bad. Then, Punz shows up with a bow in one hand and an axe in the other. He asks Dream if "it's time yet."
"Oh shoot yeah right- Sorry Fundy, I agreed to go hunting with him. Can’t let my hands lose practice, you know? Haha- You should probably rest tho, uhh here let’s go, you can pick out a supper for yourself alright?"
(Dream's plan here was to get all he could out of Fundy and kill him. He felt too bad. He's now very confused and desperately trying to find a new plan.)
Dream brings Fundy breakfast and asks if he'd like to add anything to his house. Fundy decides to commit to his "flirt your way out of this" plan, so he says it's a nice place,, tho he wouldn’t mind having Dream in there too, to get to know him better and all, haha- Dream says he appreciates the offer, but he has some responsibilities to attend to.
Fundy's a bit worried that he crossed the line, but when Dream returns a few hours later with lunch, he has enough for two, and they eat together. After that, they go on another walk. It goes like the one the previous day, with Fundy flirting and Dream trying to get something, anything out of him.
Fundy really thinks this is all going well so far, but then when Dream drops him off at his house/cell, he doesn't get any food for the night. He can't tell if Dream forgot or if it's a warning that he needs to start talking if he doesn't want bad things to happen. This is... worrying.
