This is why I hate YouTube AMVs

I’ve made a couple of RWBY AMVs over the years, and I am by no means calling myself great. Im simple, Im good. My most recent video, a Monty Oum Tribute AMV, I made with meticulous effort in which I felt was very well put together:

Then 2 weeks later, along comes this imitator:

Twice the views, likes, and comments praising him for how “Beautiful” and “Tear-jerking” it was and how it was “Put together WAY too well”. The editor steals the same concept, slaps inappropriate footage together, mis-times numerous clips, throws off the pace, uses crappy footage, worked in the wrong frame rate and people who know nothing about why the video is BAD praise him for it.

Are you fucking kidding me?

There are literally THOUSANDS of videos that upload the same monotonous, sloppy, ill-conceived, pitiful videos showing little to no effort and what they put out is utter garbage. Im not talking for myself now, Im talking for the hundreds of AMV editors out there who put up amazing work and are not receiving their due commendation and respect.

When people put heartfelt time and conscious effort into a video and receive little to no commendation at all…THAT…just…SUCKS. HOWEVER, when other videos are put up that show literally piss poor skill AND ARE LAUDED AND APPLAUDED…THAT…IS…THE BULLSHIT I CAN NOT TAKE.

The audience is half to blame. They simply provide fluffy positive feedback at free will when the editor CLEARLY NEEDED CONSTRICTIVE CRITICISM. I did not get to where I am by falling into the allure of praise, I criticized my own work over and over and over until I got it RIGHT. I will sometimes REFUTE praise if I consciously knew I could do better. I KNOW BETTER.

Putting in conscious effort to collect, compose, and create something RIGHT shows respect not only for the audience but it shows respect to the makers of the very inspiration you use.

I will not post crap, if I know it’s crap. Tell me its crap, I take it down, make a better one. I won’t make a game knowing its crap. I won’t make a show knowing it’s crap. I will not make good AMVs if it will be thrown into the same pool of crap only to sink deeper than IT. I will move on to different aspiration.

And here we have a fucking idiot with who assumes that because that an AMV with the same song pops up two weeks after theirs, it must be someone trying to imitate them. Don’t be this guy please. Be better than this in the AMV community. While they are right about many talented editors not having enough love, we, as a community, have no place being the one to determine that another video does not deserve praise and whatnot just because they think that it’s “poor skill/editing.” As a RWBY community, we are better than this. We all support one another and fan-content. To act like this YouTuber to be all defensive because another AMV of the same song happens to also be uploaded two weeks later, and call it stealing, is just very low. That whole post is just filled with his own ego. Please. I ask of you all, be better than this and support each other and our content.
