WELCOME TO THE CHAOS RESTAURANT 🍽️ I was once a normal person until TikTok dragged me headfirst into fandom culture and suddenly I understood lore, emotional support duos, and the apparently life-changing significance of eye contact. Which brings me to shipping culture because some of y’all are conducting full FBI investigations over two fictional characters or celebrities standing next to each other once in 2019 😭 This page is not pro-ship or anti-ship. It’s for chaos, discussion, fandom anthropology, and people who accidentally got algorithmically kidnapped and never recovered. Do you ship, not ship, or just observe the ecosystem like a confused wildlife documentarian?
Despite being from a jikook sub fandom I'd suggest to rather shift your focus to watching their official content than whatever tiktok is showing you even if it's jikook or taekook or any other pair of BTS or just the BTS as a group content because as you said parasocial projecting is a thing.
Those edits will not give you contexts of anything so rather watching full things will make sense. And I'm sure every other jikooker will tell you the same to watch full official content rather than any edits provided on YouTube, insta, tiktok especially these sns cause ppl are just dumb delusional and crazy out there.
And if you're talking about watching jikook I'm sure any full context video of theirs will be fun to watch, they just have this chemistry and fun loving bond that it'll be easy to watch and be entertained.
Always try n look for the whole context of any edits you watch cause edits might fool you into thinking things that aren't very valid and true. You'll see edits having thousands of likes and it might make you feel like "if this has so many likes it must be true then" but that's just shippers GAGGING at smallest of the things and trying to get validation about their feelings and trying to feel valid.
If watching any content you think xyz pair is are just just friends and their shippers are bullshitting that's fine, if you they're more than friends that's also fine but make sure that any opinions you have on anything about the group is because you felt so and not because someone tried to convince you writting a whole ass thesis on it. Don't let anyone manipulate you cause there's many who are ready to do that.
Also if you're planning to deep dive in the fandom make sure you love all 7 boys as a group together first.
I'm not sure but IF only you plan to watch more of jikook which is jimin and jungkook (their unit name) then apart from all the group content of variety shows you also have two seasons of a travel show of jimin and jungkook together just the two of them called "Are You Sure" on Disney plus. They did one season right before enlisting and another right after like 4-5 days after their discharge from mandatory Military service.
Although you're not asking but if you wanna know anything more about them or even the group here on Tumblr then here on Tumblr there's a blog called @/stormblessed95 they're a jikooker but an army first and yoonminkook biased (yoongi, jimin and jungkook). I'm suggesting their name because they'll be able to provide sources for any official content and give context. It's also fine if you wanna find it from somewhere else just make sure you have full context of things before forming an opinion and not just someone showing you any edited clip half way through cutting the start and end and with no context.
And since you're already in hope you enjoy knowing the boys and you have a good experience. Enjoy 😊
Welcome to the Chaos Restaurant, anon where we serve hot plates of fandom delusion fresh out of the oven and lovingly tear them apart at the table.
Wow…. so for context I was NEVER a BTS girly. I went to D1 Tampa with a friend because I didn’t want her going alone and I figured “cool, concert, fun night.” Anyway. That single decision apparently altered my brain chemistry because now TikTok has me in a chokehold. Somehow I know lore. I know solo albums. I know military enlistment dates. I know emotional support duo dynamics. I didn’t ask for this information. It simply arrived. But someone explain to me why I just opened TikTok and discovered entire sections of the fandom shipping people together like they’re conducting forensic investigations 😭Like y’all are out here analyzing eye contact, hand placement, breathing patterns, matching jewelry, the moon phase on February 12th 2019, and a 0.2 second glance during a livestream like it’s a CIA briefing document. And the worst part is some of the edits are SO emotionally convincing that I’m sitting there like “wait…” even though logically I KNOW parasocial projection is a thing. This fandom is academically fascinating because half of it feels like collective emotional analysis and the other half feels like people red-string-boarding two men because they stood next to each other near a Prada bag once.I’m not even judging. I’m literally just standing here observing the ecosystem like Jane Goodall with WiFi.
There will come a day when your friend invites you to go with her to see a band she loves, and even if you don't know the songs or get the hype yet: **it is vital that you say yes.**
There will come a day when you find yourself standing in a stadium surrounded by a sea of lightsticks, hearing a fan chant for the first time, and feeling a shift you can't quite explain. You'll go in as a "plus one" and come out with your brain chemistry permanently altered.
You don't know it yet, but that one night that one "sure, why not?" is the moment everything changes. One day you're just friend at a concert; the next, you're deep in the purple sea, and there is no going back.
