Lottielee weekend 3: day 1 Laura Lee at Lottie’s death.

I accidentally only posted this in lottielee nation T-T. Then I had to go through and do it again. Ignore the shitty ahhh dialogue I don’t make comics and rarely write anymore other then pendragon.

Here’s a (to be forever) unfinished Yellowjackets animation I started back in like what? December? I meant to have it done before season 3 dropped. But also looking back at it now I don’t have the heart to finish.

I had just started drawing Yellowjackets back then and this was a bit ambitious. But I wasn’t used to drawing near any of the characters back then and looking at it now. I dislike how I drew them compared to how I would now. And I don’t have the time or energy to re draw everything. But since I did spend the better part of a month of my life working on this

I might as well post it. Enjoy

so like lottie who basically had her whole life changed by laura lee. laura lee, the first person to ever see lottie, listen to lottie and give lottie the attention and understanding she craved for. called her a gift. lottie saw their deaths in the same vision that intertwined their fates together. laura lee's death shakes lottie up so much she falls into a deeply religious psychosis and is constantly trying to reach laura lee. the vision of laura lee's plane, teddy bear, cross comes to her in her near death moment. her love and connection to laura lee who she sees on the same level as her pushes her out of her self harming suicidal acceptance of death to keep on living. laura lee who lottie saw for the first time when her visions returned to her twenty-five years later with so much emotion in her eyes. lottie who bought a house over looking a lake and wilderness. lottie who dressed her followers in the colour heliotrope — which is the same flower that was on laura lee's dress that she wore through every heart breaking and mind fucking moment she experienced in the wilderness. laura lee is one of the driving reasons as to why lottie is who she is today.

but season three was just crickets and they didn't even make a reference to laura lee during lottie's death. just a non-linear sequence referencing back to her vision with the candles. only for her to be a sudden plot device for callie "ooo wilderness baby!" shenanigans and deemed crazy again in her final moments... so incomplete. so impersonal to lottie. so insulting to the importance and build up of her character and other characters around her. so insulting to her mental health journey too with how she digressed terribly this season (I was getting whiplash from episode 2/3 to 4 to 5 to 10 with how thrown around her adult character was written). so much could've and should've been done better for arguably one of the best characters in this show.

this isn't me just being sad that my ship didn't get crumbs, this is me being sad that something (someone) so integral to lottie's character was barely even touched upon throughout the season especially in death.
