Something quick and metal moved through the air landing in the center of the mans forehead liquid red seeping around it. You gasped too caught up in the thought of sinking your teeth into the men to be focused on your watcher who had been following you from the shadows the one you originally had lured out.
You moved quickly throwing the short dark haired one into the alley wall watching him crumple at the strength behind your throw. Another crisp metal object flew through the air landing in the third man, his hand hadnt even touched you and yet he laid on the ground dead.
“You know you’ve ruined my dinner” you said flashing your fangs to the dark outline at the end of the alley. “I haven’t eaten in weeks because of you. Your constant watching, circling me like a shark.” You let out a short laugh. “Maybe I should have a taste of you instead”
You noticed how his posture changed, one from an offensive stance to one of defensive. His hand moved quick but not quick enough now that you knew what to expect. Instead of moving completely out of the way you let the metal sink into your raised hand.
“Ouch” you giggled
“You missed your mark.” You said playfully holding up your hand that had a nice river of blood flowing from the knife that was lodged in the center of it. You let your tongue glide up the side tasting the crisp copper acidity putting on a show for the man before ripping out the dagger.
“What are you?” The masked man asked a curious tone in voice but you could hear the constant thump of his heart one that had picked up dramatically since you pulled the knife from your hand.
“Something you should’ve never took interest in.” You smirked “You’ve been following me for a while. Watching. Did you enjoy the show I put on for you? I enjoyed listening to you.” You balanced the knife in your hand debating on sending it back to the owner or keeping it. You let it slip from your grip carefully flinging it into the broad shoulder of the man that stood a mere 20 feet from you.
You heard it slink into his flesh and could smell the fresh blood start to weep from the wound. Not enough to cause any permanent damage just enough for him to know you were quicker than him.
“I…” he stumbled over his words as you quickly made your way over to him, quicker than anything human could’ve. Your hand wrapped around the back of his neck. A firm pressure one he wouldn’t be able to get out of.
“Ouch” he mumbled out reaching up to his right shoulder where the blade stuck out of it.
“Do you think I should let you go?” Your other hand, the one that had the dagger go through it went to cup his chin running your thumb across where his lips would be if the mask wasn’t covering his face. Blood had stopped seeping from the hole in your hand as it slowly began to mend.
“Or do you think I should take what was denied to me because you thought I was some damsel who needed saving” your words slinked out threateningly. You knew your eyes were near pitch black and your fangs were out at the smell of the blood around you especially at the smell of his blood. It was rich and inviting and it took all your strength to not sink your teeth into the pulsating vein that was covered in his neck.
The man’s breathing hadn’t changed though as he watched you with his hazel eyes.
“I think we would be a nice pair.” He let out a chuckle and you felt the smirk on his face under his mask.
Your eyes widen at his remark. “A nice pair?” Your voice dripped with sarcasm. Your hand that was cupping his chin moved quickly to pull off his balaclava so you could get a better look at his expressions.
His heartbeat never skipped a beat.
Even with how fast you were being. Faster then any human should be.
“What makes you think I want a partner?” You tilted your head. “I dont want to have to look after somebody else espec…”
“I don’t need to be looked after” he cut you off his hand reaching up to grasp your wrist on the hand that was cupping his face. “I think we are the same.” You snorted at his words. Letting your tongue slide against your fangs in your mouth thinking about how you could never again be the same as any other human.
“You think we are the same?” You blinked rapidly wondering what the hell this man had on his mind to think that you a creature of the night and him a man keen on slicing up people had in common.
“Yes, I do. We both have dirty little hobbies that lead us out into the nighttime that we hide from others” he said nonchalantly looking down at you. You let your hand move from the back of his neck using your fingers to slowly trace over the veins in his throat down toward the knife that was still sticking out of his shoulder.
You pressed lightly on it. The man gasped as the blade went slightly deeper but he didn’t let his eyes leave yours. You moved closer letting your tongue dance across the light stream of blood running down from the wound in his arm. His blood was mouth watering, sweet, metallic and so so warm and inviting. You let the taste settle on your tongue never breaking eye contact.
You were entranced by him. The way he didn’t show any fear or even flinch as he looked into your eyes as you licked the blood from his arm. The way his heartbeat hadn’t once pounded away inside of him like a trapped rabbit. His heart was strong and steady just like his breathing and it scared you.
You let out a big sigh dropping your hand from his shoulder but he caught your wrist before you fully could.
“Come on, dont you think it could be fun?” You could hear the laughter he was trying to push down.
“I think I’m hungry and you taste too delicious for me to think straight.” You said through clenched teeth.
“Then why did you stop? Why have you let me watch you for all this time?” The man questioned you his eyes never leaving yours. The intense eye contact trapping you in his presence.

“Keep it.” He said letting go of your other wrist. He slinked away from you, tracking you with his eyes to see if you made any movements.
“I’ll be watching. When your ready to be a pair, let me know.” He smirked as he turned his back to you pulling the balaclava back onto his head as he walked down the alleyway where he came from. He stopped turning slightly back to you. “I like the blue nightgown.” He said before turning back around and continuing on his way.

buck had been working on a mission for Fisk, which meant that he wouldn't be home for a little while. his work was so important and kept him so so busy, and this mission was no different! he couldn't tell you about what he was doing and only sent a text saying 'on a trip, I'll be home late.' late often meant either a day or a month away from him.
this particular mission was two weeks long.
by the first three days, you were beginning to wonder when he was coming home. you couldn't communicate or text him back (this was for your safety as well as his own that he was so distant whilst working) so all you could do was sit and wait for him to come home, and pray that he would.
one day, you were walking past an animal shelter in the small town you resided in upstate. you both often took pet food, toys and treats to donate. it was something you always did when you lived in the city before you met buck and he had grown to love doing this with you. your caring and compassionate nature was one of the main reasons he knew he loved you.
one of the girls who worked in the shelter told you of a new kitten that had been abandoned on the side of the road. your heart softened as you saw the adorable black kitten curled up in the corner of the soft bed. when you knelt down to stroke her after opening her cage, you smiled giddily as she slowly made her way over to you.
you went back the next day and saw the adorable kitten again. the workers said that seeing you was the most movement that she had shown all day. the way she crept onto your lap and fell asleep. you knew that she had to come home with you.
so when buck arrived home a week later, he dropped his bags at the doorway and instantly called out "angel?"
you ran through to the hallway of your home and jumped into his arms excitedly. "honey I missed you so much!" you giggled when he span you around and kissed you. "how was it?"
"It was fine-what is that?" he paused upon seeng the black cat pander around your feet when he placed you back down on the floor.
"buck, this is peanut!" you giggled, picking up your kitten and introducing her to him. "baby peanut, this is buck! he's your dad!"
"when did you get a cat? I was gone for two weeks, my love." he laughed.
"she was found on the side of the road in a cardboard box, honey. I couldn't leave her! look how cute she is!" you lifted peanut up into his arms. buck reluctantly took her into his arms.

buck had grown to accept peanut as part of your little family. she wasn't anything like he was expecting. he was expecting the kitten to be stand offish and not wanting anything to do with either of you. especially buck. so when you came back downstairs from drawing him a bath, you got so excited to see him fast asleep on the couch cuddling peanut. his arms wrapped around her whilst she slept on his chest, both wrapped up under blankets to keep themselves warm.
before you could even grab the polaroid camera you kept on the coffee table, he muttered. "don't even think about it love."

dex is a dog person because dogs are loyal, they follow their owner everywhere and do as theyre told. theyre rule followers. so is dex, in a way. he follows rules you set. he's loyal to you. he wants to please you! when you're upset, dex wants to make you happy. he will do anything in his power to make you smile!
buck is a cat person. cats are tolerant, they'll listen to so much and deal with rubbish either way before he removes himself from the situation. he is introverted. even at work when he has to mingle and do his job through fisks various business meetings, he sits silently by his side evaluating the possible outcomes of the scenario in front of him. buck is independent. he hates feeling needy and having to rely on people.

Fisk's ears prick up at the ringtone. buck never has his phone on loud. you're the only person who has that phone number, his private phone. his work phone is in his trouser pocket that members of the AVTF members and Daniel have access to, but that only ever vibrates. you had never called him. you never even text him because you know how serious buck is about your safety.
buck answers the phone call instantly, eyeing the mayor who sits opposite him. "are you alright, love?"
"theres someone in the house." you whisper in the phone, breath shaking. "buck someone's here."
his heart stops. he wants to be sick from nerves but knows he has to be composed in this moment. everything he has ever trained for has brought him to this moment. but that was for combat training. covert operations.
not someone breaking into your home.
"b-buck someones here."
"I'm on my way home now, okay love? stay on the phone with me." Fisk nods to buck and signalled for him to leave. he threw the keys to his bullet proof blacked out car that he used for his business meetings in the city.
buck wanted to be sick when he heard your voice falter. he could basically hear your heartbeat through the phone. there was a loud crash echoing over the line and you whimpered quietly.
"buck 'm scared."
"angel, I'm on the way. stay put, okay?" he threw himself into the drivers seat and instantly put his foot on the gas.
he needed to hear your voice to calm himself down, selfishly. he knew that you couldn't speak to him while someone had broken into your home. so buck didn't force you to speak as he sped through several red lights.
"buck."
"darling you have to be quiet okay? I promise you I'll be there as fast as I can but you have to be quiet so they don't find you. I won't let anything happen to you." he hushed with a big deep breath.
buck couldn't let you know he was scared.
hell, he was terrified. how had someone found your home? your home was secluded, secure. how did someone manage to get past the several locks on your door? was it an aimed attack? did they know buck lived there too? did they know that mayor Fisk had been taking refuge in your home when new york was in crisis?
"are you still there? I'm not far my love I promise I'll be right there."
"c-can you stop and get me some flowers?" you nervously whispered to him as a loud thud echoed through the phone line. "buck they're getting closer."
"deep breaths okay? I'll get you all the flowers you want as soon as I'm home and we've cleared all this up." he chuckled. you loved hearing his laugh. buck was always so serious and stoic that he rarely ever expressed emotion, which is why you adored his laugh and his smile so much because they reminded you why you fell in love with him.
he heard a creak from the your end of the line followed by a muffled voice saying "found you" and you yelped.
"love, I'm two minutes away!"

his skills for a contract kill, information extracted from a victim, his watchful eyes. they wanted his expertise and always offered him a lavish life. they would offer him weeks away in a yacht in the mediterranean, a private helicopter ride to wherever, whenever he wanted, a private plane and a pilot to show him the sights of the world. they would offer him everything in hopes of using his abilities that would provide them with everything they ever needed.
dex didn't want any of that though.

from the moment he met you, he knew you were his North Star, his good deed that balanced the scale. the universe gifted him with your gorgeous smile, your beautiful laugh, your soft and kind hearted nature, your non-judgemental tone. you knew about his past - he was always honest with you - and you didn't care. he promised to be better for you and that was all you needed from him, as long as he was coming home to you every night that was all that mattered!

so when you asked him to move in with you, he was thrilled.
dex loved the pictures of you and your life that littered the wall. those from your childhood, concerts you attended, the trips you took with your friends. he loved being surrounded by you. and as soon as dex moved in, you let him pick which pictures he wanted of the two of you on the wall.
when you came home from work one day, dex had redecorated your bedroom. only slightly but he was so nervous as to what you would say, how you would react. dex had become the very thing he never ever pictured of himself - a lover boy. he had printed out every picture of the two of you, even ones you didn't know he had taken. he littered your bedroom with the pictures placed in the shape of a heart with heaps of flowers spread all over your apartment. it was the anniversary of your first date and he wanted to spoil you, and show you just how much he truly loved you.

you recalled when you were young and had been on so many shitty dates that your friends mocked you for. you remembered one drunken night sitting on your fire escape staring at the stars above you, holding your wine bottle to your chest and praying that the universe would 'bring you a best friend who you loved and was the hottest man you'd ever seen'.
everyone calls him dex. whenever they talk about bullseye's crimes on the news, they refer to him as Benjamin poindexter or when the police are knocking on doors handing out notices on the search for him, they say he goes by dex.
but you called him benny, or dexy, all dependent on how you were feeling.
when you were excited that you had finally gotten your hair done or your nails done and dex picked you up, you jumped in the car and exclaimed, "benny, look how pretty my nails are! and my hair too isn't it pretty benny!"
or when he would meet you after a long day at work and wrap his arms around you, you would sigh and say "dexy 'm so tired."
or when you dropped a plate on your toes in the kitchen. dex had told you to wait for him to help while he finished a call with a contractor but you wanted to prove that you could do it. he loved the apartment neat and tidy and you wanted to show you could help too! but when the plate landed on your toes, he heard a yelp and ended the call. he ran into the kitchen and saw your lip wobble as you turned to him with tears in your eyes. he instantly wrapped his arms around you and kissed your forehead as you whispered, "benny it hurts! you found a tall apartment building nor far from the dive bar you had spent hours in, but was further from your apartment. you got to climb up the fire escape (your drunken self forgetting about the people whose apartments you had to climb past) to reach the rooftop.
dex twitched as he watched the world from his apartment window. he saw your figure clamber past the fire escape and his interest was captured.
he had to follow you.
he was met with your figure sitting cross legged on the rooftop. his eyes scanned you and felt instantly captivated. half of his brain wanted to grab you and enquire about why you were up here and if you were here for him. feigning innocence and pretending to be someone innocent so you could lure him in and kill him. maybe you were bait for a larger trap.
but when you took your phone camera out of your bag to take a picture of the rising sun that snuck between the high rise buildings, it eased all of dex's worries.
"you shouldn't be up here."
you jumped at the voice and scurried on your knees backwards away from him. sure, you may have been slightly intoxicated but you knew a good looking man when you saw one. tall, broad, muscular. terrifying in stature and a dangerous grin that made your stomach flip in all kinds of ways.
"'m so sorry! I just wanted to see the sunrise from a roof, its my first night in the city I just moved here and I was so excited and I-"
dex laughed at your ramblings as he came to sit down next to you, watching while you anxiously fiddled with your hands. "you're fine, I can tell you just moved here." you calmed when he pulled his legs to his chest and looked towards the sunrise. "us New Yorkers take the city and its sights for granted."
"you're too used to how beautiful it is. I'd give anything to see this view everyday."
"well given you just moved here, I guess you got your wish." he smiled and pointed at the space between the buildings opposite the roof you resided on. "it rises just between these two, so I hope you brought your sunglasses."
you sat like that with your stranger for an hour. watching the sun wake the gorgeous city up for its day of action. and as you sat with the sexy stranger beside you, you couldn't help but get closer to him. laying your head on his bicep while you watched the world go by. dex hated affection. especially from strangers. because thats what you were. he didn't know you, you sure as hell didn't know him because if you did - you wouldn't be here with them. why would a young, beautiful, college student new to the city spend their first morning with the wanted vigilante sniper bullseye.
he turned to you, looking down at you, and coughed. "we should get you home. do you know which way you're headed?" when you paused to think about which street it was, he chuckled. "I'll walk you home, cmon."

when he walked back to his apartment he couldn't help but miss the way your presence felt next to him. the way your hand lingered on his arms as you drunkenly swayed by him on the sidewalk. the way your laugh echoed the streets that were often so loud and overpowering. the way you gasped a little when he kissed your cheek and your gasped quietly at the affectionate embrace.

dex dug out all of his spying equipment (everything that he had once sworn off in an effort to be a better person) from the back of his closet so he could watch you from afar.

one day when you walked the dogs, he had paid some young children who were causing trouble to pull the lid off of the water hydrant to spray water on you. the way that the water hit your top and showed off your lacy black bra underneath your white vest made him clutch his jaw shut and cross one leg over the other. dex didn't know why he was hiding the growing hard-on in his jeans, especially because he was the only one in the car, but he couldn't take his eyes from you.

one night dex had snuck into your home while everyone was asleep. he pried the window open from the fire escape and brought himself into your bedroom. it was bigger than he had anticipated. bigger than it looked through the lens of his binoculars. your walls were white but littered with pictures of those he could only guess were your family and friends from back home. or of landscapes that you had fallen in love with whether that be in New York or from your hometown.
you were laid on your bed sound asleep as you cuddled your sheets. the white bedding with pink bows on was wrapped in your hand and covered your bed. he crept towards you quietly and knelt down beside your bed frame, hand brushing your hair out of your face. you looked so relaxed and beautiful. dex had never been so enamoured by anything like this before. and when you mumbled something in your sleep and clutched onto his hand, it sealed it. you wanted him just as much as he wanted you. he slipped out of your room the same way he came in (knowing that if he stayed any longer he would never leave) and closed the window softly. he would be back.
dex sighed as a drunken idiot pushed into him and knocked the flowers out of his hand. the peonies landed in a puddle on the sidewalk while the fool laughed and shoved back into him. dex was trying to be good. trying to be better for you, even though you didn't know that. but as he was shoved into again - he snapped.
a knock at your door made your ears prick up. all of your roommates were out at a bar and didn't plan on being home early. you stayed home due to needing to finish an assignment and promised that as soon as you finished it you would join them.
you closed your laptop and crept towards the door, opening it wide to see the sexy stranger from over a week ago standing before you. blood on his cheek. damp flowers in one hand and a pizza box in the other as he panted.
"hi?" you smiled at him.
"hi." dex said, inhaling deeply as he stood tall. "I brought you some flowers, and I didn't know if you wanted to have dinner...with me."
