#working at the daily planet and going home with several bruises
the only man you’ll ever hear me give praise to is brent comer for making a 6 minute cameo rambling about how he loves gay darry and paul and thinks they’d be more layered and it’d be more interesting for darry to be queer and macho and the masculinity and vulnerability of it all but also keeps it ambiguous as to not overstep as a straight guy like what a dude thank u brent fr
I don’t think the musical “dumbs down” Soda at all. I think it does a really good job at portraying him as someone who thinks he’s dumb but is very obviously not. He makes jokes about how dumb he is while giving his brothers the most emotionally intelligent advice possible.
“Aw shucks, I ain’t no good at school, y’all are the brainy ones. Best I can do is say the perfect thing you need to hear in this moment that’ll restore your will to live.”
Like how do you watch the bedtime scene, TITT, Soda’s letter, the whole entire end, and think Soda is dumbed down?
The set shouldn’t need a sign that says “SODA VIEWS HIMSELF AS DUMB BUT IN REALITY HE IS NOT.”
ponyboy curtis
darry curtis
listening to ritfr right now and i feel like darrel in his breakdown yelling “i wish i could settle down with a lady but i cant” is just more of his spiraling about his repressed homosexuality and is just on the list of the other things he’s upsets and stressed about
“wish i could but i cant” is just an insane way to write that line bc it literally doesn’t all imply the reason is because of his brothers -> “so instead i break my back all day” vs “because i gotta break my back all day” and i WILL die on this hill
sodapop curtis is bisexual in every universe
stevepop as random posts i found on pinterest
something about queer curtis bros with darry who hides and suppresses his queerness as much as he physically mentally emotionally can, pony who’s aware but can’t hide his queerness as much as he may want to, and soda who’s always been confident in himself and has never gaf who knows or what they think of him.. complex queer siblings i love you…
