Guess who's back again. This time with hopefully less to say.
Anyway this is "Kid", not his official name, but what I called him in my last post. He is a seal hybrid, hence the gray skinâthough I imagine he'd be a little fuzzyâ, spots, and needing support to walk long distances. Also because it fits for today's word, deep. He is great with tech and has been since a young age.
You would think such a cute face is the baby of the group, but he's actually the oldest and most likely to find a way to make a bomb with whatever he has in his pockets. Technically, he's Protagonist's "guy in the chair" but as shown by the image furthest to the right, he doesn't stay in the chair if he can help it. He made himself something kind of like braces to help himself move around easier without his cane since that's a danger when/if he's fighting someone. His vigilante gear is also meant to resemble a fox with the ears and tail in an attempt to throw people off.
I'll talk more about her tomorrow when I'm not exhausted.
But for now, she's from the same story as the previous two (contempt duo or whatever, that's them now). Originally, I was imagining her as nonbinary, but I drew her and now I have a trans girl.
What does this have to do with the word sacred, you ask? Good question. I kind of just wanted to sort out her design, but I suppose religious trauma surrounding being trans and promptly bound to a demon so everyone knows counts I some way or another.
Happy day/night to you all. I'll be crazy about her tomorrow
Man, I barely remember writing this... So many things I worded oddly. Anyway, onto the story!
(Putting a break here because I wrote A LOT!)
Well, some info about the world first, actually. The story takes place in a city that has a large community of hybrids/powered people. Worldwide, people get powers, and hybrids come from some twisted rapid evolution, but they're a minority and not very welcome (I mean, we've seen the way society treats actual people who are visibly different whether that be the way they dress or how their bodies are; winged people wouldn't fly (pun intended), nor would tails and ears) so this city (which doesn't have a name yet) became THE place to go if you were unfortunate enough to be born with powers. And, well, people do what people do, so hybrids are becoming more and more animalistic, and powers are becoming more volatile with every generation. I want to say this is about the third or fourth generation that I'm designing (but so far I've drawn two powered people with no hybrid traits, and an immigrant, but there's a hybrid coming, I swear!)
So, immigration. That's still happening a lot so the city sees massive influxes of people regularly because they're fleeing the dangers of the "world beyond" (it will likely have a better name than that). Issue is, there's only so much space and money to go around, and that's without the greedy rich people (you think I wouldn't add people being broke to my story? Ha! Joke's on you, it's my favourite trope). So a lot of the immigrants, unless they come with money, (and let's be real, how many rich people are fleeing from oppression?) end up in the slums of the city where buildings are stacked on top of one another and you're lucky to get a window that closes properly.
This is where she (girl in the drawing) comes in, kind of, but I figure some backstory is in order before she moved to the city. She lived in a very religious, almost cult-like, suburb with her parents. This didn't stop her from trying on her mother's dressesâshe was never told not to, why would her parents think their child would do such a thingâand she liked how she looked in them. This started her exploration into femininity, so she started trying to grow out her hairâa feat nigh impossible when her parents wouldn't let it grow past her earsâand she began to stain her lips and cheeks with fruits like cherries, or even blueberries if she was feeling daring, to explore makeup without stealing from her mom. Naturally, a thirteen year old can't hide things super well, especially when she thinks she isn't doing anything shameful, so she's caught while drowning in the fabric of one of her mother's old dresses she used to go dancing in. And straight to confessions or whatever religious leader they have, who claims that she must go through some sort of cleansing. After a year of this effort, she's still unchanged, caught in the blue dress she's drawn in above, and for the sake of plot and why this didn't happen in the first place, the religious leader is swapped with a much more hateful man who convinces everyone to bind her to a demon so everyone will know how she is controlled by the devil or whatever evils there are (would be kind of funny if it's the one that's possessing the protagonist. And yes, there's demon in this too. There's just everything) and what she's bound with isn't exactly a demon because they don't know how to summon one, but still a monster.
She is then cast out of the community, and very few are welcoming to what they assume is a hybrid. She's taken by traffickers and put in fighting rings against other hybrids until she ends up in an underground part of the cityâthe place may be populated by a lot of hybrids, but between hypocrites and hunters, I suppose, trafficking is a problem and the city is a prime hunting ground, so a large fighting ring crept into the shadows, running a large portion of the underground economy, even funding politicians so there's no protection for the affected groupsâwhere she meets a kid her age (the next person I'm posting, hopefully soon) who is a runaway and is forced to work on a lot of the technology to keep the rings running. He's a little too curious for his own good and grows a connection with her, causing the next time she has to fight to be a fiasco where he tries to save her.
At the same time, our protagonist is running as fast as he can away from a different organization trying to make heroes because they're profitable, but going about it in the worst way while indoctrinating parents to surrender the child to the causeâhe was just the unlucky one to be killed and promptly possessed while trying to exploit a demon and its powersâand he comes across this fighting ring that's just too similar to what he just ran from, and he destroys the place. Kid and the girl (God, I need names. If you've read this much, go ahead and suggest some. You deserve it) find our protagonist after the battle, and with his human part's sense of duty and need to exist solely as a shield/protector, even though he's the youngest, the three stick together.
She starts working as a grocery clerk, Kid (not his name, but for clarity, I guess, he shall be kid) is selling whatever tech he can make to vigilantes and technically the highest bidder so long as they have a decent track record, if not, he sics the Protagonist on them. Speaking of, the Protagonist is working as a barista because coffee shops are fun, and being a vigilante and learning how to be a normal person on the side (seriously guys, a body cohabited by a nine year old and a demon is far more dysfunctional than you think, especially when that body is 16).
In the present, the girl and Kid are 17-18, while Protagonist is 16, but has falsified documents claiming he's 19.
Also silly tidbit that I don't know if I will add, but if there is a romance/love plot, she claims she's lesbian because her feelings got rejected by one guy and instead of handling it well, she just switched from calling herself bi to lesbian. She still likes men, but that one rejection has her too anxious to try again, so women and non-binary folks it is.
here's a design for day two of character design week! it's actually day four of the event, but i didn't notice the event had started until yesterday, and i ran out of time to post the finished drawing the night before. đ sooo, we're doing this now.
his name is detective dandelion! i got attached to his design enough to turn him into a real oc. he's a superhero, and he has the ability to transform into plants. he often uses this to hide or spy on people by blending into the environment. i don't know if i'll have enough time to make any other character designs for this event, but if i do, i'm planning to make everyone supervillains or superheroes! so yes, i very much am staying on-brand, haha.
The one on the left is a hero (because of course this is a superhero story, what else could you expect from me?), and the one on the right is a villain with a secret identity. Their personalities conflict in just about every way because they're really similar: a little snobby, self-confident, just an eensy-weensy bit paranoid, and wanting to be an older brother figure to the protagonistâwhich I've yet to design. The two of them are also so stuck up in their competition that they don't realize just how hyper-independent their "little brother" is and how awkward he'd be under someone else's care.
I don't know exactly their rivalry, like how dark I want it. Because dark, possessive, and a little creepy could be so fun. But I also yearn for fluff and the two doing stupid things like sticking their tongues out at each other when protagonist (no one has names yet, help) opts to hang out with one over the other.
And this is purely my rambling, like I wasn't doing that before, but protagonist being aware of this rivalry and using it to his benefit would be funny. "Well, so-and-so got me this" when told no. Even better if it's an absurd request that the other definitely wouldn't say yes to.
OH! Also, their powers are telekinesis (left) and mind control (right, and hence the spirals and belt design). Left has an x motif for fun.
I decided to make a little shadowy bug because the little knight deserves a fan.
And a little translation for my handwriting:
"Tenebrous"
An arrow pointing to the face of the first scene, "Mask"
An arrow pointing to the handle of the knight mimic's weapon in the first scene, "Stick"
An arrow pointing to the pink-tan cloth bag stabbed onto the end of the stick in the first scene, "A sack stabbed onto the stick, something is leaking inside"
An arrow pointing to the knight mimic chasing after the knight in the second scene, "A big fan"
"A bug that evolved to look like the knight because who would want to fight that?"
Following the third scene where the knight mimic is shown to excitedly holding up a damaged fruit, "Later gifts "bruised fruit" to the knight, gives a random buff (+health, soul, charm (<- only one time)) every time they meet"
