was literally so excited when kakyoin showed up in diu, ofc i had to draw his new design ^_^

extra design notes: it's barely visible here, but my awesome and beautiful headcanon is that he gets big fuckoff tattoos a couple years post-sdc. half body modification as an act of reclamation after horrifically traumatic events, (deciding to do something huge and permanent and very painful on his own terms that he actually wants) half him being extremely distressed with & having difficulty coming to terms With being suddenly violently disabled and deciding that he wants to very visibly signal that he doesn't need to be treated with pity or as if he's less capable because of it. he always keeps them meticulously covered with long sleeves while he's out or working. okuyasu voice whoaaaaaaaa kakyoin-san are you in the yakuza??

textually he has a really fun and interesting tension between being a very upright Polite Young Man and also a weird little freak who does weird shit and is very much Not an ideal clean cut honors student, so this hc works in that dichotomy a little.

what else. i didn't want to give him a long coat because long coats are heavy as shit and his back is fucked! instead he has a comfy haori (also in line with the vaguely traditional & proper but Done Weirdly theme). the seigaiha pattern in green reminds him of snake scales which he thinks is awesome, & also jotaro since it's the ocean :] he wears so many cool heeled boots and fancier outfits etc when he's in his chair for the day since he doesn't have to worry about actually walking around in them. the ankh necklace is a gift from avdol. all his aids are shiny green also ^_^

the entire fight against death 13 is still haunting me btw. I probably just need to look more but I feel like I’ve only seen jokes about kakyoin& that one evil baby but its. ohhh god. the images of kakyoin thrashing panicked in his sleep &of death slamming him to the side of the ferris wheel cabin pouring eyes down his throat so that he can’t scream while kakyoin carves a note into himself to wake up to. the eight million terrifying things happening in the dream world but with the different horror in the waking world, with everyone thinking he’s lost his mind and talking about having him leave the group because he’s clearly snapped. trying desperately to prove the baby is the stand user with the words carved in his arm and everyone, reasonably!, reacting in horror. god and they physically fought awake too didn’t they. the fact that even after resolving it kakyoin just has to live with being the only one who remembers it all!!
