I saw your header/banner here on Tumblr, and I wanted to ask you, if the Steel Ball Run cast were in the Avatar universe, what elements would each character have? hmm I think the right question would be what do you think about Steel Ball Run Avatar AU would be like? hahaha

I've never actually thought about an Avatar/SBR crossover. Hmmm. I'm not exactly an expert in Avatar lore, but just imagine... Comparing abilities, Blackmore and Lucy would have waterbending, Oyecomova would be a combustion bender, and the Boom Boom family would be earthbenders, more metalbenders, hmmm. I think Gyro could learn healing waterbending and bloodbending; it kind of mirrors his conflict, I guess. Although Gyro could just stay a guy with a boomerang lol.

Do you have any thoughts on the AU or abilities? I'd be very interested in hearing them!

His executioner suit is used as a reference. There are some thoughts about his father, Gregorio. Due to the Jedi Order system, they cannot be related. But they could share a common culture; for example, as with Barriss Offee and Luminara Unduli. Gregorio and Gyro could also be healers. Considering that Jedi aren't accustomed to forming attachments, Gregorio could very well have been raising his Padawan to cast aside sentimentality and renounce any attachments.

And I think Gyro wasn't comfortable with the Jedi Order at the time of the prequels—they were peacekeepers, but also soldiers, carrying out the orders of the Senate. Perhaps he left the Order before Order 66.(Probably, but I haven't figured out when the local SBR is happening yet. Presumably after the order??? )

edit:i might as well say i went to this anatomy drawing panel where the guy teaching drew everyone thick as shit. it was awesome. he was like “i like to draw muscles” and just drew the most caked up individuals you’ve ever seen. so thats why i drew gyro with child bearing hips here. bc it was fresh on my mind.

dude i… i wish senshi had won…. his beauty is the reason i started watching dungeon meshi… the manga… is so beautiful… and pls forgive me but tbh i’m not that well versed in dnd stuff. the only fantasy fandoms im actually in are lowkey dunmeshi and like. berserk.

in that spirit i did have to outsource your question to my long-suffering irl buddy @winterpinetrees who is VERY well versed in dnd stuff. they have had to put up with my sbr bullshit for ages so i’m very grateful for their help here.

we decided:

johnny is a halfling - drawn by adventure, slips through spaces they’re not supposed to be (tusk), and ‘luck of the halflings’ with a higher power intervening for them.

gyro is an aasimar - healing powers, ‘terrible rage’ (lmao he gets touchy), and in the words of my friend ‘divinely blessed/burdened champion wandering the world to do good.’
