Prioritizing Projects

I’ve had a bad habit of putting projects on hold (mainly game projects) since I was unable to work out the design. After a while, I would go back and keep coding when I figured it out. Sadly, this didn’t translate into more projects finished, but more projects ballooning in size and scope till I just put it on the back burner till I figure out what to do with it.

As I moved into my adult life and career, I had a number of projects filling up space in my head. Time was and still is becoming more precious and I felt overwhelmed with everything I wanted to do. There never seemed enough time between spending time with my family, working, hobbies, and events. I kept feeling like I might need to carve out a significant amount of time from everything else to work on hobby projects.

I had to take a step back and realize I shouldn’t be trying to accomplish everything all the time. There’s no way I could justify working on several different hobby projects within a small time frame. It’s not like I was going to finish everything within a month. Things take time. So I ended up sitting down and began writing.

I listed every personal project and began marking off projects I should abandon for good, wait but don’t think about, and what I should do right now. Out of those I should do right now, I ranked them based on what I should focus on first. Now I need to police myself to only work on that one project when I have free time for projects. Doing this, I can get a steady stream of projects completed for others to enjoy.

Going forward, I hope to have more to show people. I’ve already had a weight lifted off my shoulders. It’s not my day job and I shouldn’t be worrying over stuff that I do for fun. I shouldn’t be worrying over anything that’s not eternal.

UPDATE: NVM. Mixer updated their on-boarding process and I have to wait 24 hrs for a new stream key since I wasn’t partnered before. No streaming tonight, but I’ll try to have a few pictures out later.

So in the movie, Fortnite is shown being played. From an in-universe perspective, this is tasteless. 

There’s a Thanos mode where you can play as Thanos. This is like having a game about 9/11 where you can play as the terrorists. Epic Games in this universe is the most tasteless game company in the world. The fact they have that product placement is a sign they are pretty tasteless IRL.
