You Do Not Owe Your Parents Your Life

From the time you are born, there are types on parents that believe because they have you life you owe them yours. “I put you on this earth I can take you right back out” are words too many have said.

You do not owe your parents your life. Things you may owe your parents are respect, love, and honesty. This is all dependent on your relationship and the role they have in your life. NOT based on the mere fact that they donated a piece of them to give you life. Or because they carried you and went through labor to put you on this earth.

Being a parent is so much more than that. It’s also so much more than financially supporting your child. It is about supporting your child, being for them emotionally and physically. It is about genuinely making an effort to see your child. Listening to them and supporting their dreams and giving them advice where you can. It is about being a sober parent - not making your child be a parent to you. Your parentshould not be an added burden to your life.
