Maggie knew that she would eventually relax, though given the town’s penchant for weirdos she had yet to decide whether or not Charlie was legitimately exploring the town or if he had other motives. Of course, she knew that nothing could harm her any more, but old (alive) habits die hard. At the very least, she was glad to have found someone who talked just as much as she did. The girl smiled, as if this would somehow prove that she wasn’t worried, and watched as he moved onto the rock beside her. “I’m not usually this jumpy, I promise!” Maggie protested. “It’s just…” She took another moment to look at the stranger. To really look at him. He must have been brand new to Coolsville, otherwise she would have seen him by now. It was a small town (though strange) and every body knew every body. He appeared completely oblivious to the towns recent… event. “Know what, I’m gonna throw this out there. I’m taking a wild guess and say you don’t know much about Coolsville, do you?” Admittedly this was a ruse to take the spotlight off of herself. Then again, everything in the seemingly quiet placed had been tarnished since the death of Reese and she thought it best that he knew.

He folded his arms in front of him, his eyes cast in the direction of whatever was in front of them instead of looking at the girl. "I'm not usually invasive," he lied, his head turning to look at her, his smile making it clear his last sentence was false. He turned his head again, letting the other change topics without protest. "I just know that it's small. The people are kinda friendly and you have decent coffee. Is there anything else I'm missing?" He pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and popped one between his lips, offering the other one before lighting his own. "Oh, and your cigarettes are cheaper than in London," he commented. 

That really was all he knew about Coolsville. He hadn't done much research before arriving and it worked out well for him. The woman seemed keen on telling him about it though and he was all for it. It definitely had a different feel to it and he was hoping she might explain some of that.

"How the fuck do you survive then?" He was getting tired of the other's aim to seem indifferent. "This little act you put on is cute and all but you have to fucking survive. If you've found another way, then by all means tell me. This isn't a life I want to fucking live if I don't have to."

“Thanks for the offer,” Eleanor began, “But I’m actually just about to leave.” Her shift had actually ended about 10 minutes ago but the girl wanted to spruce up the kids section before she took off. She always wanted to leave it in good condition before she left because it made it easier the next morning knowing that it was relatively organized.

Charlie laughed when he learnt of the woman's plans to leave. "So I just got in shit even though you're just about to leave?" His grin was naughty; similar to that of a child. "Remind me never to piss you off when you have more than 10 minutes to go."

“Thanks for the coffee.” Gabby stated as the cup, that was presumably for her. was placed in front of her. “Hm,” The girl breathed out thinking over his request – even though the way it had been worded was more like a demand –  as she brought up the cup to her lips, “It’s small.” Was all she had given as a reply for a few short seconds with a small amused smile at her unhelpful answer. “There’s not a whole lot to say about it. It’s not unlike any other small town.” Of course that wasn’t true because Coolsville had a strange sort of quality about it where things that didn’t quite always have a simple answer was just swept away because for the residents it wasn’t uncommon and no one quite cared enough to do any real digging. Or perhaps, maybe Gabby was the only person who felt like there was something strange about it because she knew that the town was home to a few witches – such as herself – and liked to believe that witches weren’t the only supernatural to exist. 

He lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip, letting the weight of his body be held by the couch beneath him. "Small huh?" He copied. Charlie wasn't used to small towns. He fitted in better in big cities where few people would remember him. it was mainly a safety thing. He had hardly learnt how to control himself when it came to having sex with someone and more often than he liked it would end up with a dead body. Maybe the closeness of the town was what he needed in order to not fuck up. "I've never lived in a small town," he explained. "Always been in a busy city or something like that. I thought it would be a good change though. Coming here - experiencing the small town life," he smiled before taking another sip.

Letting out an overdramatic sigh, Abigail leaned back against her seat and gave him a playful look, laughing again as he commented on the waitress. “Yeah, she’s cool. She’s a really good server too, it’s always a relief when she’s the one I’m working with.” She explained. “And yes, I know that was sarcasm.” She said with a bit of a nod. The blonde glanced around, chuckling again. “Yeah, she’s a sweet lady but I really think she shouldn’t be living alone anymore.” As he asked about dogs though, she blinked and nodded. “I love dogs. I prefer cats, but I still really like dogs.”

HIs attention span was pretty short, and soon it was focused just on dogs. "I fucking love dogs. I had one back home, my mate looks after him now. He was a pug." He finished his meal and placed the napkin he had on his lap back on the table. "You got a cat then? Do you have pets? I genuinely just miss being around animals. That's not weird right?" He asked before taking a sip of his water. His scattered thoughts were never something he was insecure about due to the fact that he could make almost anyone like him anyway. Even if it wasn't sincere.

Maggie allowed a smile to appear on her lips, though she couldn’t say it was entirely genuine today. She was generally quite pleasant, some would say annoyingly talkative, but the ghost had been caught off guard in a moment of quiet. “Yeah, I am exactly a born and bread Coolsvillian. I’m going to take a wild guess and say… you aren’t?”

“Sorry,” Maggie continued, and found herself laughing. She probably looked like a deer caught in headlights. The change in the town, it’s people and it’s surroundings were now deep rooted and difficult to shake. Everyone was on edge all of the time. “You gave me a fright, that’s all. I didn’t think anyone else was here.”

"Oh shit, how did you know?" He smirked, sliding his fingers through his hair to move his fringe out of his face. "Relax," he said in an attempt to calm her down slightly. "I'm not about to fine you for sitting on the pee rock or anything." He moved from leaning against the rock to sitting down beside her, his eyes moving away from her and on to view the rock allowed them both to look at. 

"Tell me about yourself." The woman had a different kind of energy. Since moving to Coolsville, he had experienced such a variety of the energies that he started to question if where he was living previously was either incredible dull or his senses just weren't switched on. He was enjoying learning more about it, though. "All I know right now is that you get scared easily and you're from the area. Good things to know, but limiting."

Before answering Gabby pulled her phone out from where it had been sitting in her back pocket to take a quick glance at the time. She still had a few more hours of free time left before her work shift, “Yeah, sure, I’ve got time.”  After all the girl always preferred to be around other people than alone. 

He got up form his spot on the couch and headed to the counter where he got them both coffee. Once back, he placed a cup in front of her and a cup on the oppose sit of the table for himself. Sitting down again, he looked over at her. "Tell me about Coolsville."

“Do you know how many blonde jokes I’ve heard in my life?” Abigail pointed out, laughing. “It’d take a lot of cheese to make me feel sick, I eat too much of it.” She admitted and let out a heavy sigh. “My upstairs neighbour, she went to draw herself a bath, and then forgot about it and went grocery shopping.” She explained. “Do you live nearby?” She questioned him, tilting her head slightly in amusement to his joking.

"I'm out on a limb here and I'm going to say 3," he grinned, taking a sip of the water the waiter had given them both before he left with their orders. "She sounds delightful, someone I'd really trust to look after my animals when I'm away," he continued, his voice oozing with sarcasm. "Ah.. About 20 minutes away, so not super far but not apartment flooding neighbour distance." The food arrived and his focus turned to that, taking bites equally as big as he was. "Do you like dogs?" He asked after swallowing his previous bite.

“I’m blonde, I have to have something that makes me seem clever.” Abigail pointed out playfully, rolling her eyes. “Maybe I’ll get something super cheesy just to shove it in your face that you can’t have any…” She said and crossed her arms, mostly teasing. “The burgers are good, really popular too. You could get bacon on it.” As he asked where she lived though she blinked and glanced up at him, shrugging. “I do, but my apartment’s flooded right now, so I’m staying at one of the motels, so it’s close, but not exactly glamorous… why?”

"That's mean so any blonde who isn't you," he argued, grin still on his lips. "Go for it. I'll just pray to god you get sick from it later," he rebutted before the waitron arrived take their orders. "How did you flood it?" He asked. "And I don't know, just a question? I thought we were getting to know each other. But I mean, if you thought I was asking for a most sinister reason, I'm okay with that," he joked even though he knew she had caught on to his intentions.

He kept her attention, and with ease, something that was usually impossible with most people. Especially the residents of <u>Coolsville</u>, most of them avoided her, except for those who pursued her.  His earlier comment about her name, made her eyes twist with curiosity. “My name, you said?  What’s so intriguing about that?” The brunette woman asked with a slight hint of a wry tone. “A few weeks ago? Where from? … If you don’t mind me asking.“ The green-eyed girl let a grin encase her lips, feeling a strange drawing presence in her heart.

Strange.

Talia waved the bartender back over once more, deciding to order a bottle of wine from him. Her eyes moving to the name tag on his shirt, a sly twist in her eyes.

“When I walk, they will walk with me. When I speak about apples, they will taste their sweetness. When I feel melancholy or love, their heart will respond in kind. I thank you, spirit guides, for helping me. May you make the cord between me and Nick strong like the chains“

With a quick movement to clasp his hand; “just a little touch“ She told herself  and a small chant escaped her lips, one that made the bartender to return quickly with the wine;

“We are no longer two as one. I am myself and you are yourself. Your mind is now again your own.”

Talia released his hand, placing a smile on her lips as she turned back to Charlie. the interaction seeming northing more than harmless to the ‘human’ eye. As the night went on, the more they drank and the more they laughed. it had been too long since her last laugh, and she knew it.”Still, America has a shroud of mystery – I mean can you believe the Grand Canyon? Beautiful.“ Her last words sort of trailed off leaving a wondering thought in the air.

He laughed at her misinterpretation. "Not your name, the name of the town. It's a cool name," he chuckled to himself, very pleased with his bad joke. "I moved here from London. Was there most my life until I came looking for something new," he explained. He wasn't lying completely, but it sure as hell wasn't the full truth. 

He walked the interaction between the two people, his face covered with concern and intrigue. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew it wasn't human. He didn't feel uncomfortable or uneasy, but rather just experienced the change in energy around him. Soon, the moment was gone and the conversation shifted. 

"It's a big fucking hole in the ground," he laughed. "It's just weird. Like some little kid dedicated his life to digging a hole and that was the result." he slide his fingers through his hair again and took the last sip of his drink. "What do you think about heading out of here? Maybe take a walk around the area?"

The blonde rolled her eyes at his imitation of her. “You’re tall, okay? Don’t tease. It’s unbecoming.” She teased right back, letting out a dramatic sigh at his question. “You have no idea.” She joking was just coming naturally, and she blinked at the mention of being lactose intolerant. “You can’t eat cheese? Poor guy.” She thanked him softly as she walked into the diner, waving at the current server and sitting down across from him at the booth. “I dunno, depends on what you like I guess.”

"Unbecoming. People actually use that word?" He was enjoying teasing the girl. "I mean, I can eat cheese. But it doesn't always turn out so well," he explained as he sat down. "What are you going to have?" He asked, his eyes scanning over the menu. "I think I might just get a burger." He slide his fingers through his hair, sweeping his fringe out of his face. He let out a soft sigh and placed the menu back down on the table. "Dp you live close by?" They might of just met, but he hadn't fed in weeks. Of course there was one thing on his mind.

The gemstone green of Talia’s hues followed the way his hands moved through the tresses of his hair, the woman registering his words as she tossed back the shot of tequila that slid across the bar into her grasp. “All of my life, actually.“ She confessed. It was true, and she felt a slight tinge of embarrassment lurch into her chest at the thought of never traveling. Talia crossed one leg over the other, turning her body in his direction. “ If I’m being honest, your tattoos – you don’t see a lot of them in Coolsville, it’s interesting. “

“ What about you? Have you always lived in Coolsville? “ The woman cursed herself, her hues locking to his as they found a place. “Of course he hasn’t, Talia. You would’ve seen him before now.“

“ Absolutely, you should see this place on a Wednesday night…“ Her voice called back, as the increasing sound of the crowd began to fill her ears.  

"I suppose the interesting name means nothing to you then," he mused, taking a sip from his drink and placing it back down on the coaster it sat on. "Yeah, I noticed that not many people sported ink. I guess that makes me unique," he grinned. He called over the bartender again. "You want anything more to drink?" He asked her as he ordered another glass of wine. He prefered wine over beer. 

"Nah, I moved here a few weeks ago," he said as he moved in his seat to face her a little bit more. "America is a strange place," he teased, taking a sip from his new glass. His attention was again drawn to the loud group of people, causing him to clench his jaw in irritation. "I'd prefer not to," he replied, his gaze falling on the girl once again. 

Sometime passed and Charlie got drunker. He enjoyed drinking and the effects it had on him. With each new drink, he moved closer to her, his hand eventually falling on to her knee. Not that he needed anymore confidence. It was a, if not the only, plus of being an incubus. He never had to worry about people liking him. They always did.

Maggie pulled a face of disgust at the thought, though she knew (or rather, (hoped) that he was joking. She threw her hands up in front of her, as if to ask the stranger not to come any closer, and replied rather loudly: "Please don’t pee!” An awkward laugh escaped her lips. This was turning out to be the strangest conversation she had had for a while.

As Charlie came closer and leaned against her rock, Maggie became glaringly aware of the awkward angle and swiftly sat down again, so at the very least this rock buddy wouldn’t strain his neck trying to keep up conversation. “I’m, uh… I’m Maggie.”

"Are you from here? I don't want to be claiming the rock of a born and bread Coolsvillian." He knew basically no one, so it was one of the first questions he asked anyone he met for the first time. It was good to know who he could except to see in the area. "You look rather frightened," he chuckled softly.
