Reported in today’s Guardian is a piece “ The Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi and eight members of a production team, including musicians, have reportedly been sentenced to 74 lashes for performing in a concert livestreamed on Ahmadi’s YouTube channel in 2024.”

So next time you’re at a concert, club or listening to your local band with a woman singing remember Parastoo Ahmadi’s flogging for the simple act of singing publicly without a hijab … hopefully the war will be over soon but will freedom of speech be part of the agreement
