How did I get you into my hands, I dont even know. It was chance. I didn't even really consider.
Millenium v1
I got these three -- I expect -- because their eBay post had individual pictures but not a single one of them together. So it looked like one higher price Furby with a bit of shipping. Nope,it was three!
Husky; Spring/Easter; Blue Charge
These fellas have been through some stuff. From being found in a box with no known origin to having the MSA bug (I'm looking at you, wizard).
Owl; Leopard; Wizard
I posted about my Furby collection on Instagram. I'm just turning them into collections here now.
Peachy (and previously Baby Pink); Dalmatian; Gold Stripe
In no particular order, this is a list of Furbies I have bought and general details about them. As you can see, I've spent an average of $25.61 on any given one.
I am very strict with myself and hold a general rule of $35 +shipping or less. "But, Charlie," you chirp, "I see five times you didn't!" And you're right. It may have been a dollar or two in taxes, special edition, or a factory sealed Rooster that will be my pride and joy when it gets here!
"So, are you selling these?" In general, no. I sold one to my best friend and I'm selling another to another friend. Most of these I plan to keep as a collection or perhaps sell later for a profit.
Please be kind if you have disagreements with anything I am sharing. I happily accept information and learning new things.
A custom Furby I plan to make is Nyah-Nii and he’s got one (I am thinking about both, though) Sharingan eye. So I needed to make a custom eye chip. Since I’m planning Furby Baby size, his eyes will match a Furby Buddy at 12mm.
These eyes are the reason I’m getting people that are kinda iffy about Furbies to get excited because they all like anime.
Yesterday I bought a vacuum chamber and pump online so that I can better make silicone molds and resin casts. It should get here tomorrow and I can test it out on the last bit of silicone and resin that I currently have. Then I’ll get more and maybe start selling casts to those that want them. You know, after I make enough for my creative missions.
So my to-do list of custom Furbies I want to make:
Nyah-Nii
Pinata
Link & Zelda (BotW)
Vulpix & Cyndaquil
Quilted (gonna be weird...)
These are my spawn!
First we have Katie. She has a bird-like eye and wants to collect knickknacks that peek her interest. Not always shiny but emotion evoking. Baby | Gen 1 | Peachy
Next is Spot. He is your friend and that’s all that matters. Original | Gen 2 | Dalmatian
Last is my newest child. I just won the bid on him earlier and I await his arrival later this week. I’m planning to call him Orange Fizzy Cola or Fizz for short. He will be the first one I own with the original box! Original | Gen 7 | Gold Stripe
i really need some advice on how to remove the furby buddy faceplate :( this thing wont move, any tricks?
Oh man, I just did this the other day. So turns out they went absolutely ham on the glue so all of the fur/fabric between the front and back plate are adhered to the parts. The only hope I had was to slowly cut it away. I used an Xacto Blade to help so I could keep as much fabric in tact as possible.
Once its cleared, you'll have to go back and clean up but be careful what you use because I believe it is similar to ABS plastic and can sort of melt?
I'm not sure if you've already gone through and done this but I'll still offer what I know. Good luck! Safe travels!
A repeating Furby pattern I made! This is one of several patterns I’ll be selling on bags, bandanas, and other goodies at Furlandia 2020 (and then later online on my Storenvy page).
I might be having a lot of fun drawing Furbies. If I could have a collectible Furby for keeping and never altering, I would want the Rooster. Because I was born the year of the Rooster and it’s the color of fire.
It is TERRIBLY hard to get my resin casts to come out right.
If you didn’t know, a Furby Buddy faceplate has several parts to it. Not just a front and back. Not only are the eyes separate entities. the eyelashes are, too!
The eyelashes aren’t so bad, I just have to work carefully so I don’t get bubbles on the tips. The back plate is straightforward. But the eyeballs and front plate think it’s a game and hold a big bubble somewhere obvious. You know, obvious after I’ve let it cure and removed it from the mold.
The only sure way I can fix this is to buy a vacuum chamber. But that’s kinda expensive... Maybe I’ll be able to sometime soon but until then I can only do my best.
I couldn’t decide between a cat-themed spawn and a weeb-themed spawn. So I mixed the two. My friend says he’s cursed. That’s his backstory.
I have successfully 3D printed an okay Buddy Faceplate. It has that layering texture that often comes with printing. I'm hoping it'll sand down or otherwise let a primer reduce the effect.
Later, my friend and I are going to a craft/fabric store to get more supplies to make our first custom Furbies. Mine is doing to have a deep sea theme.
This is a free Furby Baby (’99) sewing pattern. I worked very carefully to get the most accurate stitching lines. More information below the break:
