“What do you mean ‘Ouch’?” Gianna asked as she smiled. “I didn’t think that was so bad, I mean you’re alright looking. Plus I have a feeling people tell you often that you’re a looker.” She smirked. “I could, when I get really bored it might be something I think about. Is that what you do ‘Chill’ with yourself?”

“alright looking?” He chuckled slightly, “I do get told that often, I guess I am just not used to being called alright looking.” He held his hands up and showed her parenthesise when he said the last part. “Wouldn’t you like to know if I did,” he gave her a small wink and left it at that.

“um yeah. I refuse to finish advance chemistry with an 80 as a test score.” She said no way in hell she will have normal grades. “Not really, after high school, I’m going to work with my dad and make music. Music is really big for me.” After high school, she might be a kpop artist alone or in a group, either way, she loves singing and she doesn’t want to let that go. “Ahh thanks, it lovely to meet you too. I mainly help to tutor all kids at this school. If you need any help I’m your girl.”

Charlie grew even more confused, “So you don’t need to have good grades... You just want to have good grades?” This concept boggled his mind, he needed to maintain at least a 70 percent average to be able to even be considered for a football scholarship, that was the only reason he ever cared for school. “What does your father do?” He asked curious as to what she might be doing after school with such intelligence. “I might have to take you up on that offer, chemistry is killing me this semester.”

“You are over reacting. Will you ever not assume the worst in me?”

“Yeah, you shouldn’t have,” She bit her lip, trying not to be upset with her brother. But, what he had done truly rubbed her the wrong way. “I-I know that you care, but I don’t appreciate you doing stuff like this. I’m not sure if you’re aware how much it hurts me,” she admitted. 

Charlie was trying really hard not to get angry with his little sister, he took a deep breath and turned his head to look away, something he had been working on in anger management. “I am not assuming the worst in you.” His emotions raced and he could hear the hurt his his little sisters voice as she spoke. “That was never my intention Ro.” He looked back to his sister, “if you promised then I guess I shouldn’t worry, right?”

“So you like the Journey and the eagles then?” Trying to get an idea of what he liked. Still walking with him, he felt his blush fade as the topic wasn’t fully on him, more about dancing. He could talk about dancing. “Its a dance that tells a story mostly. Its more fluid looking, I can’t explaining it well, but you’ll see….I umm….I’m glad you’re coming.” 

Charlie nodded, “yeah, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and so on.” He chuckled slightly, he wasn’t really as into music as most people, but he did enjoy listening to it every now and again. The boy tried to imagine what was being described, “ fluid looking,” he repeated under his breath trying to form an image in his head. “I think I might have to see it to know exactly what it is,” he thought it was interesting that it told a story, and he started to look forward to the competition more, to see what kind of story his dance told.

“What kind of music do you listen to?” Cameron asked, walking along with him and putting his headphones away thought he kept his hood on. It was a place to hide when Charlie made him blush and just generally, smiley. “No I dance one dance with the team then I have 2 solos this weekend. One is contemporary and the other is ballet.” 

The boy shrugged slightly, “mostly classic rock, but I guess I am not that picky.” Charlie only had a short playlist, consisting of a few select songs that he enjoyed listening to, if he managed to listen to all of them before he got to where he was going he would just turn on the radio. “Okay, don’t judge me, but what is contemporary? I have heard of ballet before.” The though of Cameron dancing ballet mesmerised him, he always found ballet to be such a graceful dancing style.

Cameron nodded, he was looking for him and that was still such a shock to him. “Yeah, I mean we get free tickets and I really just go with my coach since my siblings have other things some times so I have extra tickets but I mean sure you want to…wait you want to give me a ride there? I mean I’d love that but I normally ride with the team but nevermind, Umm yeah, you can pick me up around 8 at the dance studio on 8th…” Blushing a new shade of red, he bit his lip. His heart was racing fast.

Charlie nodded as he tried to take in everything that Cameron was saying. “Okay, I’ll pick you up and well have a road trip. I hope you like my music.” He stepped forward starting to walk towards the school exit, hoping that the other boy would follow. “Do you only dance with the team? Or do you have a solo?” As much as he knew he would enjoy watching him no matter what, he hoped he would be able to see him on stage, alone, able to show everyone what he was capable of.

“because no one looks for me.” Cameron responded, thinking to himself. Especially the boy I’m crushing on. Smiling softly, he hid his blush a bit more. “oh umm, you don’t need to buy a ticket, I can get you in for free with my family. Its next weekend. Its my next qualifier for nationals. Its in Studio City…you really want to come?”

Charlie only smiled at the boy, slightly puzzled by what he meant. “Well I was looking for you.” He knew from the last time he had seen him dance he had wanted to go see him in his competition. “Really? That would be even better. Next weekend I am free so it works out perfect. Would I have to get there early if I wanted to give you a ride there?” He nudged the other boy slightly, “well of course I want to come. I told you in the auditorium that I would come see you dance sometime.”

She felt bad for him. She knows that his dad gave them tough love. “It’s okay. The world doesn’t care about it anyways.” She said trying to cheer him up. “Are you sure about that?” She said pointing to his wallet and him letting the dog stay over at his house. A few minutes later OUR PLACE finally hit her in the head. “Um, yeah of course. I plan on getting a place in L.A. after school went we graduate.” She smiles, “So our place huh?” She smirks picking up the puppy making a funny face.“

Charlie smiled down at the girl, “honestly nothing would make me happier right now than to buy you that puppy.” He had acquired a job over the summer, and they had kept him on as part time when he started school again, so he had enough money put away. “We are going to need some supplies for this little guy wont we?” he smiled making his way over to where they could find food, and dishes and leases and collars. “L.A? To pursue your dance?” He had always imagined Camryn going on one of those T.V dance shows and winning. “I- Yeah. Sorry, that- I didn’t mean to say that” he stuttered slightly.

“I’m willing to get my 80 to a 95. I don’t care if it a B I want an A.” She said turning around dumping the boxes of junk outside. Sierra has been here for like an hour and she like halfway done. “Most of the stuff here is super old so if you see something that useless just dump it outside and I’ll take it to the dump.” She said taking the dirty test tubes out and putting in the fragile box. “Thanks, my mom named it after my grandmother. I’m from Crenshaw with my brother Aiden.”

“Wait so you asked to do this to bring your mark up from an 80?” He couldn’t believe what he had heard, why would someone with an 80 care to bring their mark up more. “Do you need a specific average to get into the school you want?” He would understand more if she was simply trying to get into her preferred college . “I don’t know if I’ve ever met him. But it’s lovely to meet you.”

“I mean, your all right.” Gianna smiled, giving the man a wink. “Well I mean, that’s just how it should be or have I always been doing it wrong?” Gianna asked looking at the male for a moment. 

“Ouch!” Charlie grabbed his chest pretending to be wounded by her words. “How could you say something so cruel?” A smile crept to his lips, “well yeah usually it is with someone else. But you could ‘chill’ with yourself too if you wanted.”

“Counting calories isn’t a bad thing to do, Charlie. I really don’t know why you’re making such a big fucking deal out of this. Writing down how much and what I eat makes it easier for me to know what I’m putting into my body.”

“If you trust me, why are you interrogating me right now? Sure doesn’t seem like you’re just trying to make sure I’m ‘okay’, I don’t really appreciate you snooping into my room and violating my privacy.”

Charlie sighed slightly, she was right, a lot of people counted their calories. “Yeah, I know that.” He stood to get up off her bed, where he had made himself comfortable while reading her journal. “I guess I am over reacting.”

The boy couldn’t help but look down, feeling embarrassed. “I just... It caught my eye, I shouldn’t have taken it upon myself to look at your stuff.” He had realised what he had done was wrong. “I just care about you.”

Cameron had his headphones as per normal for him. He wasn’t really watching where he was walking so it wasn’t surprising when he ran into someone else. His hood was up as well, glasses slipping up on his nose as he looked up to see whom it was. Charlie. It was Charlie. His heart couldn’t beat any faster. “you were looking for me?” Pulling his headphones out of his ears.

Charlie smiled at the boy in front of him, “well yeah. Why do you seem surprised?” His eyebrow cocked up as he questioned the boy. “I wanted to know when your next dance thing was, and how much I’d need for a ticket.” He blushed rubbing the back of his head and laughed a little, “and how to buy a ticket. I am kinda new at this.”

“Why not just take the compliment. ‘thank you, Gianna, that was nice of you to say.’ not hard.” The girl smiled for a moment. “I hope more ‘chill’ than Netflix.” 

“Well it’s not like you said I was handsome or anything,” he chuckled slightly running his fingers through his hair. “Well I would say there is more ‘chill’ when another person is involved” Charlie usually watched Netflix alone, something he had grown accustomed to recently wanting more time to himself.

“Maybe not social enough.” She shrugged with a little corner of her mouth lifting in a half smile. “But you could also be right, we probably do just hang out with different people. I mean, football star, right? Swim team, yearbook, theatre.” She laughed softly. “Netflix chill yea?” Gianna smiled.

Charlie smiled, “I wouldn’t call me a football star, I just play.” He was always humble when it came to the way he played the game. “I always like netflix and chill.”

Charlie was sure he had seen Cameron around the halls not long ago, but now that he looked for him it seemed he had disappeared. He somehow always managed to be able to hide in a crowd, and the boy was starting to think he wouldn’t be able to find him. When he had lost hope he turned to head out walking right into him, “shit man.” He reached forward prepared to catch him if he fell, Charlie was a big guy and knew from experience that bumping into people usually didn’t go well. “I was actually looking for you.”

“Do you live under a rock? Like everyone calls it that.” Gianna told the boy, a hand slipping into the pocket of her jeans. “You forget tomorrow is Monday, then again I never really mind school.” She shrugged. “So what you just enjoy laying around watching movies doing shit all on Sunday with that perfect person. Ew.”

“Well,” he shrugged “I have never heard anyone say that before. And I’d consider myself pretty social. but I guess we must hang around different people.” Charlie shook his head “Not with someone, just laying around, sleeping.”
