Actual family leading a revolution
I rewatch the Kabby kiss after each ep and feel like I view it a little differently each time in light of the new moments I’ve just seen between them. Everyone else doing this?
ok bear with me i just need to talk about marcus kane. because he is amazing and his character development is so beautiful and he deserves all the good things in this world.
kane, who was so dedicated to keeping the human race alive that he locked all sentimentality away, almost at the cost of his soul.
kane, who cried in his mother’s arms after learning that he’d sent 320 people to their deaths for nothing. he felt like he was the one whose stomach was pierced by shrapnel when he lost her to a bomb blast only a few days later.
kane, who would not accept that the people left behind on the ark should just lay down and die.
kane, who found all the survivors he could, and crawled through burning hot maintenance shafts, at the risk of being sucked into space, just to get to a small group of people he wasn’t even sure were alive - because no one else could die because of him.
kane, who felt that when he realized abby was still alive, that she hadn’t burned up in the Exodus ship, that she was here, alive, in his arms, that maybe hope wasn’t something false and intangible after all.
kane, who was ready at the drop of a hat to stay behind on the ark so that all the survivors could make it to Earth, because salvation comes at a price, abby.
kane, who was struck breathless at the sight of snow-capped mountains and clear water and blue sky.
kane, who had abby shocklashed even though giving the command almost broke him, who never considered that she would forgive him, that they both knew it was necessary to keep their people in line.
kane, who gave abby the chancellor’s pin because he knew their people needed her leadership more than his. kane, who saw and understood how much pain abby was in and took it upon himself to lead a mission to bring back the missing kids of the 100.
kane, who brought his mom’s treasured eden tree to the ground and planted it in the forest because he knew that’s all she had ever wanted.
kane, who would do anything, anything to stop a war between his people and the grounders, who tried to get jaha to kill him and when jaha refused, tried to kill himself to save them because after all, what was his life worth compared to all the innocent ones he’d taken? maybe if he cut his arm deep enough his blood would wash his soul clean of theirs.
kane, who was so full of guilt and grief and self-loathing that he didn’t care if he lived or died, who refused to see the good that others saw in him.
kane, who tried to make abby leave him to die so that she could find her daughter; who was utterly at a loss as to why she would want to stay and save his life, because obviously it wasn’t worth saving, was it? surely he, of all people, deserved to die in the ruins of that train depot. if he died, he could answer for his sins. but she wouldn’t let him die.
kane, who was sure he wouldn’t make it out of the rubble, either because his lacerated artery would bleed out or his chest would be crushed under a concrete slab, but who used what little breath he had to convince abby to forgive her daughter for not stopping the tragedy at tonDC.
kane, who was losing his mind at the sight of abby dying in front of him, strapped to a table with the life being sucked out of her bones when he was only feet away but it might as well have been a million miles because he couldn’t get to her, and it was all his fault, he could save her if that soulless man with the scar twisting his lip into a sneer would just listen to him.
kane, who ran to abby the moment he was freed and had no thought except to help her, to hold her close and make sure she was alright, to get her out of that nightmare of a mountain.
kane, who walked beside abby’s stretcher for that entire eight-hour walk back to camp, holding her hand because he was afraid that if he let go he would lose her, that escaping that radioactive hell was a wishful dream and sooner or later he would wake up with her screams ringing in his ears and she would be dead.
kane, who took the blake siblings under his wing; who respected clarke and recognized her independence and ability to lead before abby accepted it. kane, who was awestruck at the sight of the city of polis, who was the one to make abby smile for the first time in months, who eased her worries about clarke; kane, who helped clarke and octavia in and out of arkadia at the risk of his arrest and possible execution.
kane, who has done a complete 180 since the first season, who started out as the pale, clean-shaven, ruthless, law-abiding head of Ark security, and who is now a scruffy, merciful, kind soldier and leader who just wants his people to have peace and who is currently leading a group of teenagers in a clandestine rebellion against the current Chancellor, because he believes that peace is still achievable after all that’s happened.
marcus kane, man. marcus kane.
YES! That's it! That's why I LOVE him.
Marcus : I don’t want to do this, but if we cull people now, it’d be 209 people to die.
Jaha & Abby : Nope.
*Culling of 320 people ten days later*
Marcus : Let’s wait until we know for sure what the threat is.
Abby : Nope.
*Finn Collins kills 18 people including elders and children*
Marcus : Let’s execute the boy here, at least he won’t suffer.
Abby & Clarke : Nope.
*Finn Collins dies later by the hand of Clarke, causing lots of tensions for everyone involved*
Marcus : We can be friends, learn from each other.
Indra : Nope.
*Are best friends a season later and Indra probably taught him Trigedasleng*
Marcus : We can donate bone marrow.
Cage : Nope.
*Cage gets killed, along with all his people minutes later*
Marcus : Bellamy, don’t start a war.
Bellamy : Nope (or, screw protocol.)
*War against the Ice Nation*
Marcus : We are at peace with the Grounders.
Bellamy & Pike : Nope.
*Skaikru has no allies anymore and is at war with basically everyone*
And that, characters of The 100, is why you should always listen to Marcus Kane.
Give me two fictional characters and I'll tell you which I'd rather date.
Reblog and see if you get a color.
PURPLE: We near never speak, but I do enjoy your presence on my dashboard. FUCHSIA: I wish I could become your best friend through the internet. GREY: You leave me with jumbled words. RED: I’m in love with you. PINK: I have a crush on you. TURQUOISE: You’re hot. CHARTREUSE: I sincerely wish you would notice me. TEAL: We have quite a lot in common. BLUE: You are my Tumblr crush. ORANGE: I dislike your page. YELLOW: PLEASE FUCK ME. WHITE: PLEASE MARRY ME. GREEN: I find you cute. BLACK: I would date you. BROWN: I dislike you.
Kane has had to go through a lot of hard lessons to really learn himself. He knows that there is only so much power and responsibility that he wants, or that he even ought to have. He would make a great ambassador between Skikru and the Grounders. He’s always been great at security, and is a sound choice for Captain of the Guard. But the role of Chancellor is something that he’s never especially wanted, despite what Abby or others used to think of him. He’s has his beliefs about what should and shouldn’t be done, sure. But …
Idk man, he’s just come so far along as a character. And not just in growth but in the revealing of his character. I feel like the Marcus Kane that we’re seeing here in season 3 isn’t so drastically different from the Marcus we first met. A lot of the aspects of himself that he shows now are things that feel like were always there, but that he buttoned down for other aspects of his personality. Mostly because he felt he had to, for duty’s sake.
But now they’re in a new world and Marcus can be a new man, so to speak. He can be the sort of man his mother raised him to be. And I think that really shows in how he carries himself and how he is awed by so much, and how he is always willing to try and reason things out with opposing sides. I think its him trying to honor his mother, and be a more well-rounded man and leader-figure.
The 100 season 3 so far in a nutshell:
Kane: Bellamy, don't do the thing.
Bellamy: ...
Kane: ...
Bellamy: *Does the thing*
Kane: Why, son, WHY?!
HOLD UP. THEY OBVIOUSLY MURDERED THOSE PEOPLE CLARKE SAID ITS AN ACT OF WAR. “BLOOD MUST HAVE BLOOD” MARCUS HAS THE BRAND. LEXA THINKS OF HIM AS THE LEADER. HE MIGHT HAVE TO SELF SACRIFICE TO PAY FOR WHAT HAS HAPPENED. AND THAT LEADS THE KABBY KISS???
NONONONONONONONONONO PLEASE NO JUST NO THIS HURTS
“Dear Jaha, I'm sorry we rejected you. Your storyline was wayyy better than this wannabe chancellor.”
- Sincerely, The 100 Fandom
#abby was such a supportive gf this episode
wishes for the rest of the season
If arkadia is to be divided lets have a resistance for Marcus, Abby, Lincoln Sinclair, Octavia anyone else not for Pike.
Have Marcus not give up on Bellamy and try to keep reaching out to him.
More Kabby moments please!
“Abby wishes she could be here” aka “My wife is at home and I’m running the errands for her”
More like "Abby wanted to be here to insult you and slap you hard on that smug face of yours, but I talked her out of it because I don't want her to be arrested".
abby and kane really stepped up their mom & dad game in watch the thrones
Abby’s Wardrobe and the Kabby Kiss
This might or might not end up having any weight, but I think the outfit Abby wears next week is going to be the one Kane kisses her in. If you look at the shirt she’s wearing in the trailer, it looks like a gray/black henley with some ribbing on the sleeves (you can see it when she’s running her fingers through Kane’s hair):
Lightened/colored in @akachankami‘s amazing gifset, it looks like this:
In the promo pictures for next week, we have Abby wearing a shirt that looks very similar to, if not the same as, that one. Based on the context of the sleeve alone, I think there’s a HUGE resemblance.
Here’s a closer look for anyone who’s as crazy obsessed over this as I am:
The ribbing on this sleeve matches the one on the sleeve we see in the trailer and gifs, and the stitching on the bottom matches as well. Could I just be so nuts thinking about the kiss that I’m hallucinating similarities in Abby’s wardrobe? Maybe.
Whether or not we get the kiss next week will also depend on if Marcus changes out of his guard jacket, which it appears he will. But unfortunately, we have no evidence of whether or not he puts on his other black jacket instead of the guard one.
Now, I’m not saying the kiss is coming next episode, because predicting such things is hella tricky on this show. For all we know, these idiots won’t change their clothes again for the rest of the season, which would make sense given how shit has hit the fan in Arkadia. But based on Abby’s shirt we’re GETTING CLOSER and I’m so excited to see their wardrobes reflecting that!
How sad is it that the Arkers voting for a hateful, racist leader, who wants to lead them into an unnecessary and probably disastrous war, instead of voting for a wise, democratic and peaceful leader, is actually terribly realistic?
Probably one of the most realistic things in The 100, imho.
Kane/Pike debate for election
Kane: I'll keep the peace! I won't let fear dictate my actions! I trust Lexa, I trust the Trikru. I have facts to back up my reasons. I will not let hate and prejudice interfere with my judgement.
Pike: I'll just attack an army of people who are there to defend us with their lives, and smash every single alliance that we have made with these people. Even though I am attacking the wrong people.
Pike: Here's the best part. I wasn't even here for this peace that you've kept for three months so I'm just going to assume that the friendship you made with these people is totally fake.
Pike: Let's go kill everyone.
People of Arkidia: Let's vote for Pike! He sounds like a decent fellow!
Abby, Kane and anyone with sense: Fuck this. I'm out.
