Final Evaluation
A lot of hurdles were overcome whilst completing this project. I had never really made a video before and I had never done something as technically difficult as data-moshing or generation loss. Because of this I found it hard to see past the development and experimental stage to finally come up with a final product. This is something I should have worked towards much sooner to allow myself time to perfect it. Because of this I am rather unhappy with my final outcomes and feel as though they could have been much smarter.
However, I have had such an interesting journey to this point, learning lots of new things along the way. I wanted to challenge myself at the beginning to do something new as my portfolio was very weighted towards print and book design and by exploring animation, I have given myself something new to put into my portfolio.
I also really enjoyed the subject matter, and eventually I enjoyed making the outcomes. The idea of a protest/campaign that promoted healthier trust in politicians was enjoyable to research and particularly when exploring the tone of voice. In hindsight, I would have gone more down the route of a humorous and casual tone of voice, however at the time I was worried about how serious to make it and what copy to use, by going more serious allowed me to spend more time on the actual outcomes.
Juggling ISTD was also tricky as I struggles to co manage the two projects. In hindsight I should have distributed my efforts evenly and the outcomes may have shown this. However, I am proud of how far my ISTD project came of those weeks to become a much more controlled project.
One of the most exciting parts of this project was the self promotion unit. This was a fun way to let off steam during the later stages of my project and focus on something with no constraints. I am happy with these outcomes as I worked hard to make my portfolio, logo and business cards look as professional as possible.
