How is that surprising? [She asked curious as to his answer then giggled, she poked his right cheek lightly and giggled] I can see that you are honored.
[Amelia couldn’t help but smile at the young male] I like strawberries.
[Chase shrugged with a smile still firmly planted on his face.] Just seems like you're someone people would want to treat well. And I suppose it doesn't hurt that you're very pretty, too.

I am an awesome winner. [She said with a small smile, laughing at her own joke, her grin matched his] Well… I don’t go out on dates, they are kind of like ghosts to me.
Alright low commitment but dress to impress. [She teased as she stepped closer towards him] I just can’t have peanut butter.
I'll admit that that's surprising to me. But I'm honored to be taking you out anyway. [Chase felt his cheeks warm up again, and he nodded at Amelia's statement.] Precisely.
[He brushed a small strand of hair from her face and leaned in to talk quietly.] No peanut butter. Got it.
I think I won today over this [Amelia pointed a finger towards him and then at her a few times] little debate… [The girl was continuously joking, her eyes were bright with joy and her smile widen until her lips spread to a grin showing perfect white squares. The moment he asked the question, her smile left her lips to replaced by a shy expression. The girl blushed even if the meal was platonic, the girl was bashful, she looked down for a moment then looked up at him. Her cheeks in a light color of pink. She nodded her head slowly then stopped noticing her actions, she gave him a small smile as she pulled her head up and replied]
I would love to get a meal with you, Chase. [She bite her lower lip after the reply and looked away for a moment then looked back at him] I’ll still cook for you sometime.
I will concede to you then, Amelia. [His foolish grin was all too apparent but he couldn't care less in the moment.] You had me worried there for a second. Almost looked like you'd seen a ghost. It's a date, though.
I'm going to give you fair warning. I said low commitment, which is certainly true, but I like to impress when I go out with someone like you. I hope that's alright. Any foods you don't eat?
[Amelia gave a hearty laugh at his imitation and through some laughter she was able to retort back] And I’ll keep my seltzer for them on the side. [Her laughter began to cease and she just continued to smile] I love to cook and you like food, you see I told you food is the true window to the soul.
Why you most welcome, Mr. Chase. [She said with a giggle, then she slightly turned her head still smiling] Of course, you can ask me anything but my answer may be limited to what you ask, my dear young man.
Well, there aren't too many responses you could give me I don't think. [Chase took a breath and smiled, looking into her kind eyes.] Could I take you out sometime? Low commitment, I promise. And if you don't want to...well, we can forget about this and I'm still going to take you up on that meal sometime.
[Chase went quiet but kept his head up awaiting her response. He hadn't felt nervous like this in some time. Mostly, he was worried about any preconceived notion she might have about him - the partier, or whatever people said. But he waited hopefully either way.]
[Amelia giggled at his continuation of the joke] Just warm milk and some little pizzas with my glasses while watching some magical CNN. [She said softly teasing further, her smile getting wider at the young man in front of her. She would never admit this openly but he was what the kids called cute.] Food is the true windows to the soul.
I am pretty nice to everyone, yes… but I think you are still special. [She said giving him a wink]
Don't forget to take your dentures out before you go to bed at night. [Chase proceeded to wrap his lips over his teeth, mimicking an old man.] I do love me some good old food.
Oh golly, thanks Miss. Walker. [Chase kept his cool with an even smile, but the statement followed by the wink had his stomach in a knot. It crossed his mind to ask if he could take her out sometime, but he wasn't used to nice girls like this. For all he knew, she was just being her polite, friendly self.] Forgive me, but could I ask you something?
Nah. I love having an audience.
Well. You seem like quite the character. Are you a student here, or?
Yes quite the adorable one. [She said as she nodded her head still smiling] Very much the old soul, never a young spirit, always asleep by nine at night. [Amelia joked softly as she heard his words, the girl shook her head, she has take out only on special occasions if she was venturing towards a movie or didn’t have time to cook, the girl always cooked her meals and dessert for those meals. Thought words only made her giggle at him, no judgement given just a giggle from the smile and the look on his face] I can cook you something if you like…. [She suggested towards him]
[She paused when he asked the question and mocked a thoughtful expressed by tapping her chin then announcing with an exciting tone] You can just ask, love! I love making them!
[Chase felt his heart speed up momentarily. It was odd to talk to someone so genuine after so much time in the laboratory or at school.] I wouldn't even be surprised if you had a glass of warm milk and cookies before bed. [Amelia's offer to cook made him smile. He was also worried that everyone he was meeting lately was offering to make food for him. He must've come of as completely pathetic.] I don't know what I'm doing to make so many people offer me food, but I could never turn down an offer like that.
I will keep that in mind. You know, I'd like to think I'm special, but you're just this nice to everyone, aren't you?

"Redford?" Sora muttered mostly to herself before smacking her forehead. "Ohhhh, sideburns!" She grinned before giving herself a once over and looking at the disarray her studio apartment was in. "Uh, yeah… I’m at 9940 67th, in Astoria." Huffing as she got up, she began to gather all of the things she was damn sure she wasn’t ready to show him, throwing them onto her bed in the corner.
"Wait, you wanna do food first or are you tryin’ to jip me out of a lab visit?" She asked accusingly, heading into the bathroom and tugging down the drying bras and panties that were hanging from the shower rod. "Cause if so, I know a mean dish that’ll make Montezuma’s Revenge look playful." She smirked.
Chase had been a freaking joy after her attempt at fitness. Meeting people in New York was easy, at least it always had been for her and this time was no exception. She learned not to have expectations with people, but always to anticipate theirs and she really hoped Chase was on the up and up. After all, though Bruno was a teddy bear, he wasn’t above snacking on someone’s ass if she gave him the go ahead.
"Alright, alright, let me just make this place halfway presentable. I’m apartment E in the basement. Just ring the buzzer and I’ll let you in."
"Yeah, yeah, sideburns," he mocked, cutting the corner as soon as she mentioned Astoria to hop on the six train. Even the people on the staircase were bothering him today. He pushed through the turnstile after swiping his Metro Card three times - just perfect - but luckily a train was already pulling into the stop.
"I think the lab visit is worth at least double what food's worth. Besides, you do not want to be in the lab right now. It's like everyone in their took their annoying pills this week. Fucking awful. Don't worry though, I'm only expecting steak and merlot. Nothing fancy," he chuckled, gripping the metal bar as the train jolted back and forth, screeching over old tracks. He laughed into the speaker as she mentioned the dish she'd cook, and visibly cringed. "You've got quite the mind, Foster. I'll be there soon. Put on some pants, you sound exasperated." On that teasing note, he hung up, and noticed a mother sneering at him in the corner of the train. He rolled his eyes and continued to stare at the screen until he hit his stop.
Sora's neighborhood was unlike his own, but it had charm. The sun was just going down as he reached her address, and in typical fashion, buzzed her apartment five times too many. "I want my money, you bitch!" he yelled, laughing to himself. It always amused him to disturb the peace and cause a little scene - harmless fun.

"Shut the hell up!"
"Sorry Terrence!" Sora flipped off the ceiling, turning down her iHome a little and looking guiltily over at Bruno. "Don’t you judge me too, you chose it." She muttered, rolling over the end of her couch and picking up the remote.
"Mystery Science Theater?" She asked, propping her feet up on the massive animal at the end of her couch who huffed in what she took as a ‘yes’. She didn’t even have time to hit the Netflix app on her Xbox dashboard when her phone nearly vibrated right off the table. Looking at the number and not recognizing it, she flipped open her very old, very crappy phone.
"Foster." She greeted expectantly, nudging Bruno’s lip up with her toe so that it looked like he was snarling.
It had been a long day. Instead of anything remotely interesting, Chase was given tasks so simple a monkey could've done them. They might as well have hired one to replace him, for christ's sake.
On days like these, the bar called his name. Not that he wasn't there most every day, anyway. His hair was too disheveled and his thoughts too scattered to pick anywhere but the dive bar just a few blocks from the lab. Walking in, he gave a few mindless shakes and slaps to the regulars. But the bartender was the one guy who always gave him a hard time, and he wasn't about to deal with that today. If he wanted a seventh shot on a Monday night, he didn't need to be lectured on the ramifications.
"God dammit," he muttered, heading right back out the door. Prying his phone out of his deep pockets, he searched through a few contacts before seeing a promising name.
"Redford, here. I'll be over in 15 if you'd be so kind to provide me with an address. If you didn't get the memo already, I'm inviting myself over," he concluded.

I am not uptight and I cook. And I think you should, who gives a damn if you burn something if you eventually get it right? Plus if you’re smart it can be cheaper than take-out.
Does it bother you? I don’t even notice anymore. I’m not really a hermit, but going out is expensive and I work all the time, so usually it’s just me and Bruno.
