The Wheel of Fortune is a card of cycles, fate, and destiny
“The thing about growing up with Fred and George is that you sort of start thinking anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve.” -Ginny Weasley
Ginny! Latest in my Book Heroines series.
How is Harry the right person for Ginny?
Oooo I could go long on this w/ quote and everything but my brain is tired so- shortish answer: He gets her- he gets her humor, he gets her drive, he gets what makes her tick, he gets what upsets her- he just has an intrinsic understanding of her that few people do. He’s strong. He can’t be bulldozed by her when she’s fierce and independent. he’s strong and can take her when she’s an emotional mess. For the most part, he can handle her when she feels she’s unhandle-able. He supports her and admires her in the way she wants to be supported and admired. She can burn bright- in achievements, personality, emotions etc- and he’s there for it and doesn’t shy away from it. He’s not trying to bring her down, or infantilize her, or make her feel a damsel in distress- he admires her and wants her to be set up for success- be it him volleying up joke set ups for her, or cheering her on in quidditch of bouts of fierceness to protect others.
She enjoys his company. She finds him fun to hang out with, laughs with him, connect with him, and it’s just EASY. They get along well- there’s a lot of balance and understanding there. She feels safe with him. She knows he’d never use or hurt her and that he’s a good man.
They share the same values on every level- and love the same sorts of people.
He’s the best person she knows, in her opinion. She respects him so deeply because of who he is and his values and kindness.
They have the same interests.
She thinks he’s adorable- While many people see Harry as ‘The Boy Who Lived’ she sees the woobily boy who is lost and upset when his friend have to go to prefect duty- and instead of thinking ‘what a baby’ she like him and enjoys helping him through stuff- because he’s good and deserves it. She goes soft for him. They physically meld together so well- the intimacy between them is so easy and unthinking for both of them. She thinks he’s hot as hell.
Love all of this ❤️

lots of people are unfamiliar with global grading systems so i just want to clarify. The story is set in the 90s Britain, and O.W.Ls are loosely based off O level exams taken at 16.
EE is a great grade. Like, E is Exceeds Expectations because it exceeds expectations, it's beyond what's required. And it was emphasized throughout OOTP that EE was considered a top grade. Why ? Because it was literally a highly required cutoff for admission into N.E.W.T classes.
Neville was literally not allowed N.E.W.T Transfiguration classes because he had Acceptable. Acceptable is an equivalent to B. Meanwhile EE is required for students to be allowed higher classes. So that makes EE equivalent to A and Outstanding equivalent to A+.
If they were equivalent to B he would not have been allowed N.E.W.T classes. The average grade is Acceptable.
And we know that the average student gets maximum 4-5 O.W.Ls. Fred and George each had three. Harry and Ron had SEVEN each. Harry on top of that topped DADA. The trio was three amongst 12 students allowed into Potions N.E.W.T classes. Can we stop calling Harry an average student when he clearly wasn’t ? Harry was bright and sharp and Ron was smart too can we stop dumbing them down ? It takes two seconds to go through their character wikis where its highlighted how powerful Harry was and how smart Ron was.
What really gets me about Harry hate is the fact that more often than not it's full grown adults hating on him simply for acting like the kid he was/is and actually responding to the horrific things he's been through in a none quiet, respectful, compliant manner (his outbursts, his trying to get his voice heard when he keeps being silenced, his reluctance to just sit still and let others protect him while he does or knows nothing when he keeps being forcefully dragged into life threatening situations where they can't protect him and he ends up seriously hurt).
It's the same old "Harry is so arrogant." Who are you, Snape? "He's such an attention seeker." Alright, Severus, calm down. "He was rich but didn't want to give money to the Weasleys." You clearly didn't read jack shit or the whole victim blaming thing where they turn around and sympathize or empathize with those who mistreated Harry because, if they themselves had to deal with “a little shit” like Harry, they’d react like that too. The jokes are whatever, but those who are serious about it concern me because if that’s their response to a fictional character (who they literally read going through all of the things he did), simply acting their age and lashing out because of trauma, mistreatment, abuse, and incompetent adults surrounding them, then I can’t imagine how they’d react to real life victims who go through this stuff or have gone through it (and aren't lucky enough to have their stories told).
Harry Potter ⚡️
“Harry, who was still not trying to think about Ginny any more than he could help, despite the fact she kept cropping up in his dreams in ways that made him devoutly thankful that Ron could not perform Legilimency.” HBP
My favourite trope has to be:
I sacrificed myself to save you. I didn't plan to survive. I burnt all the bridges. I intended to break your heart with my death, but that would be all right, because I wouldn't be around to see you. I pretended that you'll mourn me for a while and move on. I convinced myself I was going down in the blaze of glory. That my deed was appreciated. That everything was going to be all right afterwards, and I didn't need to be there to see it.
But I survived. And now I have to look you in the eye. I have to pick up the pieces of the life I shattered and figure out how to put it back together. If it can be done at all.
