“don’t worry, i’m not here to ask you on a date.” jay park said as he strutted into your office as if he owned the place. a folder thick with papers was nestled firmly under his arm and he held two drinks - no doubt scalding hot - carefully in his hands. “yet. but i did bring you coffee and the reports from the lab.”

“thanks,” you murmured, taking your drink from his extended hand and taking a sip, not wincing at the temperature and the bitter taste. you turned back to the investigation board, your eyes quickly skimming it over for what felt like the thousandth time.

“did you even sleep last night? and i mean at home.” you pressed your lips into a thin line, clearly conveying the answer to his question. you weren’t quite sure why he cared so much. the two of you weren’t partners – neither did you work in the same field. he sighed. “so that’s a no, then. you need a break. maybe a date”

you let out a snort, taking another sip of coffee. “quit trying, park. how many times is that, now?” he gave you his signature smirk, shrugging. you hated that smirk.

“too many to count.” he said, his smirk widening. “indulge me just this once?” he leaned against the table as he spoke, crossing one foot over the other.

you hesitated for a moment, before eventually grumbling, “fine. after work.”

“didn’t expect any less.”
