Hair
Function of Beauty;
Shampoo, conditioner, and now a leave in conditioner!! These products have saved my hair and it's absolutely glorious, so I don't think I will ever switch... they got me pretty hooked! All you do is take a hair quiz, pick the options you want, and it will even let you know what the ingredients are! Sounds good to me! This product is all natural - no parabens, sulfates, alcohol, silicone, and cruelty free. You can chose your fragrance preference from strong to light. Or if you aren’t into that, fragrance free!
My brief hair history;
As for my hair, I no longer use hair products, like styling gels, blow dyers/straighteners, and dyes as much as I use too. I also wear wigs, and find it more cost effective as you can change it more often without damage! Wigs can last forever if taken care of properly. Because of this, I don’t have issues with damage or have many stressors. I also work from home, so I don’t have the daily grooming to go through as most women do.
The reason I don’t do dye my hair, even though I badly want too, and I use to all the time... I use to have a friend that used my hair as practice for a few years, and she even taught at a school, so it was pretty neat to try out all sorts of styles! I fancied the rainbow, side bang cut, short hair, and she did it for me at cost or free. She was super darn good at it too.
After she moved, I tried to find a stylist, and was promptly quoted $600 at many different salons, for the same style I had previously gotten for $100 or less - so yea, could not afford that. They claimed rainbow styles always fetched that. I don’t know how anyone can upkeep that! But I digress... another gal charged me $100 just for a hair cut! when the advertisement said $40. It was the worse cut I had ever received. She stated the advertisement price was for “shorter” hair, but my hair was not even that long. Another lady quoted me $200 for a dye, but then charged me $300 when it was done, claiming it took more color and work - I only did one color lol. And guess what? It only lasted a few days! I got caught in the rain once and it all washed away.... this was supposed to be a permanent color. When I went back to complain, she wanted to charge me an additional $100 to “redo” it. Claiming that I would need to “redo” it to upkeep the color every month. I mean, lol??
At this point, I was so mad at salons, that I bitched about it to whoever would listen. So cue in my co-worker at the time, who convinced me to do my hair, and she fried it - that pretty much traumatized me. She even suggested I go to a particular lady (her friend at a salon) to “fix it.” Her “friend” charged me $300 and my hair fell out later that night, and I had to shave it all off the next day because it was coming out in chunks. I found out later that my co-workers all disliked me and had a good laugh over it. Don’t trust anyone! It took me several years to grow back half of it... So as to say, I have been paranoid since then. I worked so many extra hours, slaving away to earn this money, just to waste it all. Most of the girls I spoke with, had parents, boyfriends, or other family members to help them out with bills, so they always gloated paying $200-$300 every couple months to maintain their hair. They also would buy “all organic vegan food” at top dollar grocery stores. I got sad and tried to do the same, because they would mock me and state that I didn’t “save” well and I could afford it too if I tried harder. I learned the hard way, that following the crowd is never a good idea. Considering I lived by myself, had no help, and paid all my own bills. They use to make fun of me for being poor, but it was just there privilege shining through, as they would mumble under their breaths for me to “go back to my own country” and they came from rich families. Must be nice, not experiencing struggle.
Good times. This is why I work from home now.
If I ever do decide to dye my hair, I would most likely do all grey, black and grey, or grey at top that blends into pink towards the bottom.
Other natural brands include;
HIF; I am actually quite interested in trying these products, as I already love the other brands (The Ordinary and NIOD). But these particular lovelies are always out of stock! So I guess we will see.
