Oh. My. Gosh! This smells like white chocolate, I cannot!
Ok, sorry, that is out of my system I swear.Ā Now, to start with Iād like to mention a couple of things. First, I donāt really know what makes a good or bad highlighter, I know they make you glow and if I enjoy them or not. Second, I RAVE about this brand (I Heart Makeup/I Heart Revolution) their products are just so good for the price! With that out of the way let me get on with my review.
As before this product is cute as hell, comes with a decent sized mirror, is slim and compact and, as an added bonus, smells like white chocolate. Unlike the other highlight Iāve reviewed this is a pure highlight compact, the pink is definitely not a blush. As before you get two pans, a creamy, white product and a soft, pink product. Iāve used both sides a fair amount as both work well with fair to pale skin tones. There are other shades for these, however, I donāt know how they wear as they would look terrible on my skin so Iāve not purchased them.
Both of these pans give a very soft, non-glittery glow. Another highlight where you wont be glowing to the Gods but it is still very pretty. Again they work both wet and dry and blend well on your face. Again I donāt feel like these shades are really going to look great on a richer skin tone, however, if you like your highlight to stand out go for it! You do you, makeup is just fun and there is no right or wrong. I love the cream shade as an inner corner highlight and use it for that a lot.
Once again, a subtle glow suitable for work/school or day-to-day but not a blinding highlight by any means. Definitely a highlight that is more my speed.

Iāve used this product a lot so I can confidently talk about this without second guessing myself. This product is so cute, the outside packaging is adorable and the two highlight shades ombre from a light champagne shade to a dark peach. The product also contains a good sized mirror and is very slim so works well as a compact and it wont take up much space in a handbag. I tend to use the first pan more than the deeper second pan because I am pale AF! The second pan is intended to be a blush, however, I am not about that highlight as blush life, I prefer a matte blush. Iād say the second pan would make a good highlight for a richer skin tone.
Unlike a lot of the chocolate bar styled products this one doesnāt have any scent to it. This does work dry or wet and is more of a shimmer glow opposed to a glittery, chunky highlight. Currently it is my most used highlight as itās a somewhat subtle glow and is really complimentary for my skin. If youāre fair to pale I would really recommend this although Iām unsure of how it looks on deeper skin tones.
With this highlight you wont be glowing to the Gods, however, if youāre after a soft, somewhat subtle, glow this product might work well for you. Definitely a day-to-day, work/school suitable glow.
My tip is for buying makeup brushes. Iāve had a couple cheap, cute and fairly functional sets from Wish though Iāve noticed a lot of people complaining theyāve only received one brush when they ordered a set. Hereās my main tip for buying brush sets from Wish; if the product doesnāt have a size selection (4 pack, 8 pack/ set 1, set 2, etc.) donāt buy it. Whether itās advertised as a set or not means nothing. Wish product titles are basically search tag words so that their product comes up when you search, for example, brush set. Finding the products with size/set/quantity options usually will give you more than one brush.Ā
Another thing to note is if the product says 20 brushes for $1/Ā£1 theyāre either going to be cheap as hell and half sized or youāre going to get one random brush from the set youāre looking at. Wish is an absolutely fine app to order from and I buy a fair amount of cheap tools and household stuff from there. Itās just knowing how to work through it and get to the actual fair products.
I had heard a lot of good things about Focallure eyeshadows so I decided to purchase some. I was disappointed by this palette. The colours donāt screamĀ ātropicalā to me, theyāre more of an autumn stroll than a warm tropical vacation. I would have liked to have seen some brighter shades, maybe blue and teal hues. Heck I would have taken a sandy yellow too... But this palette is just too dull for a tropical vacation at least in my eyes.
As for the product itself I was also underwhelmed. The matte shades donāt swatch with much pigment and I feel like you have to work a lot harder to get a decent pay off on your eye. As you blend you seem to blend the shade away completely. The shimmers swatch rather chunky and need to be applied with your finger, I find applying them this way was the only way they would show up but the downfall is you get a fair amount of fallout on your face.
Iāve also found that the product seems to be pressed very hard so although the texture itself is quite soft itās difficult to get a good amount on your brush. I had to really rub my brush into the product to get a decent amount of pigment. The shimmers just donāt pick up on brushes, I even had trouble with packing brushes like sponge tip applicators.
I wouldnāt recommend this product, other products by Focallure may be alright but this specific product was very lack-lustre for me. The shades were boring, poorly pigmented and took a lot of work to get a good look going. Originally purchased to be a cheap every-day palette it did not stand up to the task.
Final score 3/10, would not recommend.
Swatches:
Now, the shimmers swatched A LOT better than the matteās but, and itās a big but, everything felt so dusty and I really had to dig my finger in there to get anything to actually swatch. Every matte is patchy and chalky and felt just horrible. I honestly might go bin this palette right now.
Let me start by saying I am BAD at foundation, like, really bad. I canāt seem to blend it properly or make it look right on my skin. However, I will be taking this into account in my review.
Lets begin with the shades. I am so impressed with the shade range of a Ā£5 foundation. 18 shades is a fantastic range and you can easily see the progression from fair to dark. It doesnāt seem to have any major jumps between the shades. Good job Revolution, you done good!
Now onto the product that I actually purchased. Because I ordered online I decided to get two shades, I was originally going to get three but F3 was out of stock. Iām quite fair, I have what I like to callĀ āWelsh skinā which runs in my Dadās side of the family which means I have very dark hair but very pale skin. The shades I purchased were F2 and F4, testing them on my face F4 suited my skin tone the most. The texture of the foundation is soft and creamy and it glides onto the skin when applying it. I tried blending out both with a beauty sponge and a brush and both worked well. I found the sponge gave more of a sheer coverage as it sucked up some of the extra product. Coverage overall was light to medium but was buildable in areaās that needed it. I have issues with very rosy cheeks and adding more product definitely helped calm that redness.
Now the downfalls. I feel like this may have been more of issue with my lack of skill or lazy af skin routine but I found the foundation tended to stick to, and emphasise, my more dry areaās. Around my T-zone especially I looked a bit flaky. Please keep in mind, though, this could just be my poor application and not everyone will have these issues. I feel like exfoliating and moisturising well (and possibly having younger skin) would help with these issues.
Because of how rarely I wear foundation I usually feel like I can feel it on my skin no matter how sheer the coverage but this felt like nothing. I usually complain a lot about feeling foundationĀ āin my poresā but I felt like my skin could still breathe with this on. I think this was due to the soft and light consistency of the product itself.
I havenāt done a day wear test yet but I will report back on how it wears throughout the day once I get better at applying it.

All in all I give this a 7/10 so far.
A good product with a fantastic shade range, however, probably not best for those who suffer with dry or flaky skin as it seems to emphasise the issue.
Tam Beauty, which has recently changed itās website toĀ āRevolution Beautyā, is a website specialising in one brand and itās sister brands. The main brand is Makeup Revolution London and itās sister brands are Freedom Professional London and I ā” Makeup. The brands are all relatively affordable and, in my experience, good quality for the price.You will only find these brands in Superdrug on the high street though they are available from a few places online.
Iāve ordered these brands before from Superdrug online, however, this was my first experience ordering direct from Tam Beauty as the items I was after were out of stock on Superdrug.
Tam Beauty seems to ship worldwide but as a UK based company shipping times may vary. For me shipping was around 1-2 weeks so pretty fast in my opinion. You get a verification e-mail when your order is confirmed and another when your order is ready to be shipped. Once shipped you receive a tracking code to follow your order so it seems very well organised.
Originally I was at work the first time they tried to deliver, however I received an e-mail letting me know delivery had been attempted and I was able to reschedule delivery for a day I was at home. It was very simple to do and handy that I didnāt have to go pick up my order. The package itself was very secure when opened, my items had been actually shrink wrapped to the bottom of the box meaning they didnāt shift at all in transit preventing any damage. With Tam Beauty I did have to pay a delivery fee, however, if your order is over Ā£35 delivery is free (at least the the UK, Iām unsure about other countries).
All in all a good experience with Tam Beauty, 10/10 would recommend.
I actually purchased this in store though the prices are the same and I presume, as Iāve ordered from Superdrug before, that delivery would be about the same as my other orders. Iāve literally used this so much Iāve hit pan. The product comes in 3 shades and each palette contains 3 powder shades and a clear wax to set your brows. Having quite thick brows to start with I find that I only really have to use a powder to fill them in. I find it gives a more natural look while filling in any spaces that need it. The wax works well to set them in place and you donāt need a lot to do so. The powders are very pigmented so you should use a light hand when applying to start with. In the powders you get 2 brow shades and aĀ āhighlightā shade for your brow bone. All in all this is a good quality brow product if you have fuller brows and want a more natural look. I wouldnāt suggest this if you have very little brow hair or want a more dramatic and precise look. For that Iād suggest either a pencil or a pomade.
Overall I rate this a 8/10. Itās a good product however the highlight shade isnāt light enough and I can only use 2 of the actual products in the compact.
Iāve never bothered with expensive brushes. You donāt have to pay a lot for a decent brush. The brushes I use are from a mixture or Wish, Amazon, Primark and ebay. The brushes I have are all soft, they donāt shed hairs/fibres and they all do the job theyāre intended for well. The rose gold and pink brushes displayed above are my most recent brush purchase from Amazon. They arrived quickly and blend my make up well. The bristles are soft and donāt stab into your eye and these were extremely cheap.

I know a lot of youtubers will push and push and push Morphe brushes but Iāve never seen the point in paying Ā£5 for one brush when I can get a full set for less than that. It really isnāt about price, itās about quality. Iām not going to lie and say every makeup brush set Iāve ever purchased online is amazing, the first set I got years ago was, to be blunt, shit. However, you can find decent brushes for very affordable prices online. My favourite set as far as blending and feel is probably the mermaid set I got from Wish. They wereĀ āfreeā which means you just pay shipping. Sadly I canāt give an exact price on the shipping as the prices on Wish do fluctuate however I will still link the set currently priced at Ā£6 +shipping.
Most people have a Superdrug near by in the UK. However, if youāre like meĀ then the one near you is tiny and doesnāt stock much in the way of make up. If I want to go to a larger shop itās an hour on the train or over an hour on the bus to get to the nearest city. If you live in a city than delivery is probably only an option if your nearest store is out of stock of the specific item you want.
Iād have to say, though, that Superdrug delivery is exceptional, at least in my experience. Each item comes individually wrapped in bubble wrap and is boxed nicely. Sometimes you even get a little surprise, my last order I received a free sample of Ghost perfume. Iāve never had an issue with a broken or damaged product and delivery is usually fast. I donāt think Iāve ever had to wait more than a week for my delivery. You also get sent a tracking link in your confirmation e-mail so you know where your package is at all times.
I would recommend Superdrug delivery to anyone who wants to order online from them. Itās free delivery and every item is well looked after. 10/10 would shop again.
I ordered this palette as it looked very similar to the Anastasia Beverly HillsĀ Ā āSubcultureā palette. I wasnāt wrong. The shades are very similar with a few differences. Both palettes contain 14 shades.
Shade comparison;
Cube vs. Sugar Rim - Cube seems to be much more of a pure white where sugar rim is more of a dual chrome creamy white and pink. Still a good inner corner shade but not white like cube.
Dawn vs. Moscato - While dawn is a very pale skin tone neutral shade moscato is a more warm toned sand shade, still a good transition shade but very obviously different.
Destiny vs. Martini Olive - Destiny is a very pale olive green and martini olive is a fair few shades darker, other than the difference in tone they are very similar.
Adorn vs. Espresso Martini - These two are obviously different, both are shimmers but adorn is a definite golden shade and espresso martini is a bronze shade. However Espresso Martini swatches really well and is still very pretty.
All Star vs. Maraschino Cherry - Both shades are warm red tones but all star leans more to the pink side where maraschino cherry is, surprisingly a deep cherry red.
Mercury vs. Cheers - These shades are very different. Mercury seems to be a very cool toned, almost grey, brown. Cheers, on the other hand, is definitely more brown toned. Both are cool toned but there is a definite difference in whether they lean more towards brown or grey.
Axis vs. Caracao - Again, while similar the shades are different. Axis is more of a green teal while caracao is more of a deep green.
Roxy vs. Body Shot - These two are the peachy shades in the palettes. Roxy is more of a standard peach tone, not too pink and not too orange where body shot leans more to the orange side of peach.
Electric vs. Champagne Toast - These are the other 2 shimmers in the palettes. Electric is much lighter than champagne toast but both are golden shades. Electric also looks to have a slight green tint to it where champagne toast is pure gold.
Fudge vs. Bloody Mary - These two are quite different, fudge is more of a chocolate brown where bloody Mary is more of a red toned mahogany brown. Both are warm tone browns but very different shades.
New Wave vs. Bellini - As seems to be a running theme with these palettes the shades are similar with bellini being a darker yellow shade than new wave.
Untamed vs. Magnum - Untamed is a cooler toned paler green where magnum is a much deeper slightly warmer shade of green. These two are probably one of the most similar in my opinion.
Edge vs. Pina Colada - The second of the yellow shades in the palettes edge is a brighter yellow where pina colada is more of a mustard shade.
Rowdy vs. Last Call - These are the last shades in the palettes, both are very deep purple browns and in an eye comparison I canāt see any obvious differences in these shadows. These are definitely the most similar between the two palettes.
Review;
As far asĀ āOn The Rocksā goes it really feels more like a dupe than an inspired by palette. However, this hasnāt effected the quality of the product. For the price the shadows are very pigmented and soft when swatching. Some of the shades can create a bit of fallout when using a fluffy brush but I feel like thatās to be expected as even high priced shadows can have a small amount of fall out. The shadows blend well on the eye with or without a base and you can create a fair few looks with the range of colours. With the shimmers I would recommend a damp flat packing brush or your finger to apply as a fluffy brush doesnāt really pack it onto your eye. Iād say the colours were very retro but still contain enough muted shades for an everyday look. All in all Iād say this palette is very worth the price at under Ā£5 as the quality is good and the pigment is definitely there. I would recommend this palette over an ebay fake subculture palette as it is a trusted brand and, although the colours are not exactly the same, it is a well done dupe with nothing that is going to harm you in the formula.Ā
