The second she heard the snap of a twig being split in two, that’s when she took off like a bat out of hell, swerving around trees to get the hell away from whatever’s chasing her. Y/N should have known better than to take yet another brisk walk in those very woods her overprotective parents always warned her about, having always told stories that Willbury lurked dangerous werewolves who could sniff out a human’s scent from miles away. She never believed them, of course, they were just stories to sway her from ever stepping foot into that forest. But as a curious young and freshly eighteen-year-old girl with a love for nature, Y/N had always been called to the wonderous trees of the night, having snuck out her bedroom window. Something in the back of her mind told her she needed to be there, she wasn’t sure what, but who the hell was she to resist temptation? Well, now she regretted it, because for sure something had been lurking around her for a while now, watching her every move.
It was probably just a bear or something. Werewolves don’t exist.
Her lungs desperate for air and legs for a break, Y/N hid herself behind a large trunk of a tree and panted for breath. Her body was trembling with fear, and she tried to blame all the woodland noises surrounding her on her paranoia—but how could she explain the low sound of growling that grows louder every time it’s owner took a step closer? It was definitely a bear, a hungry one at that, or maybe just an actual wolf.
Except something deep down told her it was something else.
