Hi there, cheer fans, freshmen and opposing schools creeping on my blog to see what real cheering is - I'm Marley Rose. Next in line for Cheerios Co-Captain and not to mention their best flyer. I attend William McKinley High School, spend way too much time listening to dance remixes and I super low tolerance for people with an attitude. Feel free to look around my corner of the web. Try not to get envious, green's not really in season and very few can pull it off.
Marley had to admit, being surrounded by a group of people at all times had its benefits. There was always someone with lip balm or mascara for casual between class touch ups; she was always hearing about the latest gossip so she wouldn't be out of the loop when it came to what parties they would hit on the weekend and if she ever forgot her pen in class, there would always be a fellow cheerio near by just dying to lend her one of theirs. Sure, it was weird to have the freshman getting her coffee from the Lima Bean on occasion, but that was Quinn's doing, not hers. Plus, her schedule was exhausting and the java most definitely helped. However, as she stood at her locker listing to Quinn drone on and on about routines and celibacy club, she wanted nothing more than to excuse herself and find a quiet corner of the school to escape the nagging. Instead, she zoned out - nodding and saying 'yeah, obviously' on occasion to make it seem like she was invested.
Absentmindedly gazing over Quinn's shoulder out of boredom, a familiar face caught her eye and before she knew it, she found a smirk forming on her lips. Jake Puckerman, standing out like a sore thumb among all the letterman jackets in the crowded hallway, was in her line of sight and if she was being honest with herself, before the weekend - she probably wouldn't have noticed. However, the party had definitely peaked her interest in him. When her eyes met his, she was automatically taken back to a blur of tangled sheets, playful banter and one broken lamp that she promised to replace. All the touching and teasing had halted since then, but it certainly wasn't 'out of sight out of mind' to her.
"Marley... Earth to Marls..." she heard Quinn, as forceful fingers snapped her back into reality. The blonde was clearly annoyed she was being ignored and even though Marley didn't have the energy to keep up with her banter, she hadn't meant to offend the girl. Breaking eye contact with the boy across the hall, she was caught off guard by her classmates scowl. "Yeah, I'll be there" Marley answered quickly, unsure as to what she was even agreeing to.
Jake: “Oh definitely, that’s absolutely what happened.” He laughed. “But for real… Neopets girl wishes.” He definitely had his fair share of experience and he had inadvertently come across some strange kinks in his time. It was cliche but it did tend to be the quiet ones who surprised him the most in bed, which did lead him to wonder where Marley would fall on the scale. Some of the kinks ranged from tamer things like having their hair pulled to some much, much weirder stuff that Jake was not willing to try. It was just always awkward making eye contact with those girls in math class now, a downside to the casual sex lifestyle for sure. “You don’t like leather? You might have to wait downstairs for a minute whilst I go move some stuff.”
“Okay good move.” He nodded, more than happy to provide some mixer for the drink they’d stolen from the party. Enjoying it in his room was going to be a whole lot better than trying to enjoy it at the party to start with. Jake smiled as she rested her chin on his shoulder and basically echoed his own thoughts about his dad. He decided to let the conversation move on though, it seemed like a good stopping point for that particular topic. He didn’t want to spend all night dwelling on it when they could be enjoying each other’s company and getting their drink on instead.
Jake smiled at her Santa Claus joke, not knowing whether it was worse to have an inconsistent father who was in and out of your life or one that wasn’t there at all. “Well I’m Jewish so that sums up the metaphor pretty well, since Santa doesn’t visit me and all.” He laughed. The next thing he knew, he could feel Marley’s lips against his skin and his mind definitely flew off of thinking about deadbeat dads. How they’d gotten into such a serious conversation in such a short amount of time he didn’t really know, especially given what they’d been up to in Karofsky’s pool not that long ago, but he was definitely putting an end to it now.
“If you say so.” He shrugged, unlocking the door before leading her inside. It probably wasn’t much compared to what he imagined she was used to but home was home and there wasn’t anything he could do to change it, even if he wanted to. Well except maybe win the lottery. “Well that’s… noted.” He commented with a smirk, shutting and locking the door behind them. “So, what mixers do you want? We have coca cola, some fruit juices or probably some lemonade.” He offered, keeping his hand interlaced with hers as he led her through to the small kitchen/diner area. At least if they got the drinks sorted then they could go enjoy them upstairs in his room. Plus he was definitely looking forward to getting back to what they had started earlier in the pool.
Marley: "Oh my god, what have I gotten myself in to." Marley laughed when Jake continued the 50 shades jokes. Thinking about it, Marley couldn't remember a night she had laughed so much ~ maybe apart from their date earlier that week. It was nice to hang out with someone so easy going for a while. As much as she loved the cheer! life, spending 8 hours a day surrounded with girls who were on just as many strict regimes as she was could get intense. Jake was the kind of relaxed, non commitment she needed right now.
Despite the subject, Marley had to laugh at Jake's add on to her Santa Claus comment. It was kind of the perfect metaphor for the both of them in that case - though she had no idea he was Jewish. "Eight days of presents totally means you come out on top here." she retorted, teasing a little. Once they were inside, Marley took the opportunity to look around a little. It was nice, sure it's wasn't a mansion but if anyone knew how little a single mom's paycheck stretched it was her and in her mind she was doing pretty well with what she had to work with. Plus it was.. homey. Cozy like. She felt more comfortable there than she usually did in a strangers home. Maybe it was because it wasn't too far off her own.
Once they headed into the kitchen hand in hand, Marley let him set up the drinks while she hopped up to sit on his kitchen counter, a habit she did without really thinking about it. "Lemonade, pleeeeease." she answered, cheerfully, happy to be inside and surprisingly away from the crowd. "Do you think you would have lasted much longer at Karofsky’s if we hadn't made a break for it?" she asked curiously, knowing that was the furthest thing from his scene.
Jake: laughed as Marley offered to be punished for any spillages of the drink. “Oh damn, I didn’t take you as the type of girl to be into that kind of thing.” He replied teasingly. “I’ll have to dig out my handcuffs and whip when we get back.” He joked. Despite having his fair share of hook ups and sex, they were all fairly normal and all stayed far away from S&M territory, and he definitely did not actually own handcuffs or a whip.
“Of course it is, cheap drink is always gross.” He replied, able to imagine the expression on Marley’s face even if he couldn’t actually see it himself. “Just drink more of it. The more drunk you are, the better it tastes.” He shrugged, it seemed like a solid option to him anyway and that was the way he usually played it. “And we can always find stuff to mix it with at my place if that helps.” Jake gave a wry smile as she commented on his dad, knowing she was exactly right about him being a class act. He wasn’t used to talking about him with others but something about the alcohol in his system and probably the fact that he couldn’t actually see Marley were definitely changing that. It was easier to talk with her on his back like this than it would be face to face. “Yeah we are. I used to wish that I could get to know him and be a part of his life but fuck him, who wants to know a dickhead who could do that in the first place, right?” He felt her tighten her arms around his neck and he wasn’t sure if it was meant to be a hug, or whether it was even intentional or not. Jake decided not to comment on it though, not wanting to make it weird if she hadn’t meant it as anything and he was making something out of nothing.
“Well that sucks.” He commented as he listened to Marley talk about her own family. knowing what it was like to go through life and especially childhood with only one parent. School family tree projects in elementary were infinitely less fun and so was not having anyone to cheer for you at school events, sporting or otherwise. Sure his mom made it when she could but her work schedule had always been crazy and she was never at as many events as the other moms and dads. He wasn’t huge on sport but his dance classes had monthly recitals or showcases and his mom’s attendances had unfortunately been few and far between. “Half the money and the house isn’t a bad deal.” Jake nodded, imagining Marley to be living in the classic 4 or 5 bed houses that Cheerios tended to live in. Especially if they had walked away with half her dad’s money, and presumably child support. Although he knew from experience that child support never usually paid for much. “When was the last time he was in town?” He asked, curious since he hadn’t ever even met his own dad. “Yes I’m sure, besides a ski mask would cover up too much of this beautiful face.” He joked, turning into the road he lived on.
“It’s just up here.” Jake added, walking the short distance left before stopping outside the very small and slightly rundown house. He gently unhooked his arms and leant down so that she could get down and still try to stay upright on her heels. “I mean it’s nothing special or even remotely nice but home is home, right?” He shrugged, taking her hand and leading her towards the porch steps. “And let me know if you need carrying up the steps with those shoes on.” He teased, digging in his pocket for the keys.
Marley: A giggle escaped from her lips pictured that scenario. "Neopets girl convinced you to go all fifty shades, didn't she? I only wish I was more attracted to guys in leather." she sighed dramatically. The idea really was laughable and she knew Jake was all kinds of experienced (if his reputation did him justice) but she couldn't picture him having some weird fetishes. Not that that was a thing you could really know about a person off that bat, but he seemed completely down to earth this far so she'd take her chances.
"I appreciate all the faith you have in me but you over estimate how much straight liquor I can handle." she admitted, deciding to wait until she had a mix before she continued, after all she didn't want to get sloppy drunk or too drunk where she couldn't remember anything. She placed her chin on his shoulder as he continued to talk about his father. If he could see her she wouldn't have nodded right away. "Exactly, screw him." she said just as enthusiastically despite using different phrasing. "Besides, he's missing out. See, talent knows talent. You're going to do awesome things and he's going to have to sit back wondering why he was such an idiot." she said as if it was an obvious fact. God, the alcohol really brought out a sappy side.
"Right? I mean who needs a man when you have financial security." she said, enthusiastically as if you she was uninterested in the subject of her own family. "Christmas. He's like Santa Clause without the consistency." Wasn't a total lie, her father had visited her Christmas time. Her mother wasn't too happy about it and he was more like a acquaintance to her than a father figure but that was besides the point. She laughed when Jake began with the playful self praise. "Hmmm, No arguments here." she offered, her lips just barely tracing his neck as she did so. She was purposely trying to tease him, after all their little swim session wasn't forgotten all that easily.
Once they arrived at his place, Marley hopped down off him and found her footing, bottle still in hand, before looking over his home. From the outside it looked cozy, a little rundown but that was the options for middle/lower class in Lima, Ohio - and didn't she know it. "Hey, stop it. It looks really nice." she said sincerely, lacing her fingers with his without a second thought. "I think i'll manage this far. Though if you want me up in your arms again Jake all you have to do is ask." she teased, a smirk playing on her lips as she waited for him to open the door.
Jake: hooked his arms under Marley’s knees to help her, bending down slightly to pick up their bottle of drink as she got settled on his back. This was going to be an interesting walk home, but luckily he wasn’t drunk enough that he couldn’t walk in a straight line and he fancied his chances of staying on his feet at least. He probably wouldn’t have carried just anyone back to his house, he would have usually just made do with whatever rooms they could get at the party but he actually enjoyed Marley’s company and he wanted to make the most of it.
“Yeah, I can make it, don’t worry about me.” He chuckled, feeling her lips teasingly close to his ear. She had better play nice or else he’d be getting her back later. His house was a few blocks away, although you would have never guessed it just from looking at it. It was an awful lot smaller than the houses in the neighborhood they were currently in, and he definitely didn’t have a swimming pool or multiple spare bedrooms. It was just a tiny house for him and his mom and he hoped she wasn’t going to judge him for that, especially given the types of houses the Cheerios usually occupied. “You do get to see my bedroom.” He nodded, he hadn’t planned this but luckily he kept his room fairly tidy in case instances like this ever happened. A messy room never seemed like much of a turn on for him and he didn’t expect it was for girls either. “I can tell you now that I definitely do not own Star Wars, or anything Star Wars or Star Whores related.” He laughed, her comment bringing back the memories of a very weird conversation about Star Wars porn. “Yeah sure, of course you can.” He answered, trying to support both her legs with one hand temporarily as he passed the bottle back to her. “Just don’t drop it or spill any on my head please.” He added as they reached an intersection and he turned towards the direction of his house. “Yeah it’s just me and my mom. My dad was cheating on his wife with her, knocked her up and then just left. I’ve never even met the dude. I mean he had a family too, but I don't think they know about me.” Jake shrugged. He wasn’t always so open with his personal life but there was something about Marley that made him trust her, and the alcohol in his system had also removed a lot of his filters and inhibitions. “What about you? What does the Rose family look like?”
Marley: laughed a little when Jake insisted there was nothing Star Wars related in his bedroom. Not that she'd really judge him that hard for being into that stuff, in reality, Star Wars and Superheroes were all the rage but it was fun to tease him a little. Plus, him not being into it meant there wouldn't be any random references she didn't get. She graciously took the bottle - smiling coyly against the rim when he mentioned not spilling any on him. "If I do you can punish me for it later." she added half-jokingly before taking an over-confident sip from the bottle.
"Ugh that's so gross." she said, grimacing slightly after swallowing what was in her mouth. She wasn't sure the taste was worth the warm burning in her stomach. Once Jake started talking about his family situation, Marley's expression became more genuine. She listened as he explained it was just him and his mom - something she obviously related to. Her and her father's situation was a little different, but she still understood that lack of presence. After a beat, Marley finally spoke up. "He sounds like a real class act." she commented, before becoming a little more sincere. "I mean, it sounds like you two are better off without him." She said, gently tightening her grip around him. If he took it as a hug and appreciated it - she'd totally admit to him but if he thought it was weird she could totally chalk it up to worrying about him dropping her or something.
Once her family was brought up, she tensed up a little. Part of her appreciated him being so open that she wanted to do the same. Oddly enough, she felt a kind of trust between them already - but another part of her remembered the jocks outside of practice commenting on the 'fat lunch lady' and she was so not ready to confess that she pretended her mom wasn't her actual mom during school hours. So she decided to confess as much as her pride would let her. "It's just me and my mom too." Which was true. "My parents divorced when I was in Kindergarten. They thought having a baby would fix their marriage but obviously it didn't." Also true. "But it's whatever, they're better off apart and he visits when he's in town." which was barely ever. God she felt like she was writing some depressing sob story on a 'day of the life' blog. She needed at least some damage control. "Plus the prenup gave her half his money and the house." she added, as if to imply they were just overflowing with riches and not debt from his departure. She immediately felt guilty for lying to him when he had been so honest with her so she needed to change the subject. "Speaking of houses, are you sure you live around here or is this the part where you pull out the ski mask and garden sheers?"
Jake: couldn’t help but smirk at her words, it wasn’t exactly what he had in mind for tonight either. “Good to know.” He smiled. The rest of the night just looked like it was going to get better and better and he couldn’t wait to get back to what they were doing in the pool. Especially if they were gonna be doing it in the privacy of his own bedroom, away from most of the people that Jake couldn’t stand in the first place. Parties were fun most of the time, but in this case he had a feeling that the after-party for two was going to be a whole lot better.
His mom worked insane shifts to try and keep on top of their rent, pay for their food and bills and try to put some money towards Jake going to college. Jake wished she didn’t have to work so hard or such long hours, but he did like to make use of the time it kept her out of the house when he could entertain girls in his bedroom without his mom being around to hear what they were up to. He grinned when Marley pulled him towards the door, following her without putting up one bit of a fight. Jake had been ready to leave with her since the moment he saw her, he just knew he had to suffer through some of the party activities first. Although as it turned out, doing shots, dancing and sneaking into swimming pools wasn’t all that bad when Marley was involved. “Oh I /know/ we’ll have more fun on our own.” He nodded, following Marley out of the house and towards the sidewalk. “I mean I didn’t really wanna stay, but I just wanted to check you didn’t want to play another round of beer pong before we left.” Jake teased, putting down the bottle of drink he was still holding so that he could sort the piggyback riding out with her. The last thing they needed was for him to drop it or for her to kick out his hands. “So… hop on.” He laughed, turning around and bending down slightly so she could get on his back. It wasn’t that far to his house and he was pretty sure Marley weighed next to nothing and carrying her to his house seemed like a much better option than staying here with the Titans for longer than he had to.
Marley: grinned as Jake crouched down and told her to hop on. Placing her hands over his shoulders, she used them as support as she did exactly that, letting her arms hand around his shoulders rather loosely so she wasn't gripping too tight and instead stabling herself by keeping her legs at above his hips. She was thankful her dress flared out slightly because she could picture about 12 outfits she had tried on for tonight that mixed with piggyback rides would result in a trashy disaster. However, now, everything was covered and she was just getting away with it.
"Think you'll be able to make it?" she asked, her lips now close to his ear thanks to their current position. She knew he had mentioned his house was close by but distance felt a whole lot longer with any kind of extra weight - Marley had learned that when Sue had made them do laps wearing backpacks full of decorative rocks. Not the mention, she assumed she wasn't the only one eager to get back to his place - the night was still young but who were they kidding? Once they were on their way, "So, I get to see your bedroom." Marley mused, quirking a brow slightly thinking about it. "If you secretly actually own Star Wars she's i'm totally calling you out on it." she teased, remembering on of the first conversations they really had. In the back of her mind she knew plenty of the girls from her squad has seen them leave together, and as much as she wanted to preach about them being one big family, they were always trying to one up each other, especially her with her ranking and position. She could only imagine how many of them would try to make a move on him on Monday - not that she cared of course. It would just be annoying having to watch them act so desperate. "Can I have some?" she asked, reaching out for him to hold up the bottle for her. "So, it's just you and your mom? No siblings or step parents or anything?" she asked, curiously. She wasn't trying to be nosy or pry, but a long with an affection side, she was a bit of a curious drunk too.
Jake: watched as another couple stumbled up the stairs, drunkenly heading into a room without knocking before there was some muffled yelling and they retreated back out of the room again. It was the exact kind of thing that he didn’t want to happen with him and Marley. Hook ups at these kind of parties usually had to be fast and rushed and weren’t always enjoyable. At least if they went back to his then they could take their time and just relax afterwards. They could still take the bottle of drink with them and enjoy it in a much more quiet, private environment whilst still getting to joke around and enjoy each other’s company. “I really don’t blame you for that, I’d be the same. Except no switching teams please, that’s not allowed tonight.” He joked, even if the thought of Marley with girls was pretty hot.
“Okay cool, and I guess I can give you a piggyback.” He nodded, looking down at the shoes that Marley had on. They definitely weren’t ideal for walking far in and if she had been drinking then he doubted that would make it any easier. “Well parent… it’s only my mom and me.” He replied to her question. “And it’s Friday night so she has this girl’s night thing and she’ll be staying at her friend’s house and won’t be back ’til tomorrow afternoon.” He shrugged. His mom was usually out working but Friday nights were her night off when she took the chance to see her friends as much as possible. “So it’ll be just us.” He clarified, taking her hand and leading her down the stairs. “Did you want to go now or wait a bit and then go?” He asked once they got back to the main party area of the lounge and kitchen, including the makeshift dance floor. It wasn’t like they’d spent a whole lot of time actually in the party but then that was never a bad thing in his mind.
Marley: rubbed her lips together, amused at his joke. "Luckily for you, that's not remotely what I had in mind for tonight." she replied, a knowing smile gracing her lips. It had been like, 5 minutes since they had gotten out of the pool and she was already eager to get back in their previous position. She was thankful Jake agreed to her little quip about needed a ride over - aching feet were no ones turn on and no hook up was worth having blisters on Monday during morning practice.
Huh, he lived with his single mom too. It wasn't exactly a rare situation now a days, so she wasn't overly surprised - but it was kind of cool that they had another thing - besides their interest in swimming pools and dirty dancing; in common with one another, even if he didn't really know it. Except his mom was clearly more social. Marley's mom never really want out and socialized with others. It wasn't for lack of trying, but she knew the things people would whisper about her when she was out, so eventually she limited her outings for work and grocery shopping. Not that Marley would ever bring people to her home to begin with, it was quaint and she loved it of course, but it was no where near cheerios material. "Sounds nice... and private." Marley said, tugging on his hand for them to head towards the exit. "Why wait? I think we could have more fun on our own." she said suggestively. Sure, they hadn't been there long but these things were all the same, every weekend, and she knew she wouldn't be missing much.
Jake: dried off his chest and most of his legs before wrapping the towel around his waist. He definitely hadn’t thought through the whole going in in his boxers since they were now soaking wet and they’d make his jeans soaking wet too if he put them on over the top. So with the towel now around his waist, he pulled his boxers off and wrung them out as best he could. Skinny dipping would have been a whole lot easier, he just hadn’t known if Marley would have been comfortable with that at the time. Once his boxers were as dry as he could get them, he pulled them back on before reaching for his jeans to put back on over the top.
He frowned as he heard her tone, confused as to what was going on. She had never sounded nervous in front of him before and he had no idea what would cause her to start now. He stared at her whilst she spoke, inwardly panicking momentarily before he heard the giggle and he realised what she was doing. “Oh my god Marley, don’t do that to me. You’ll give me war flashbacks.” He joked, reaching for his t-shirt. “Next time I’ll throw you back in the pool for doing that.” Jake teased, wrapping his arms around her waist and picking her up as if he was going to actually throw her back in before putting her down and pulling the zip on her dress up for her as she had asked. He threw his towel, much less carefully than Marley had, over the railings before following her towards the door. They slipped carefully back into the party, Jake closing the patio door behind them. He looked towards the stairs at the side of the room before back at Marley. “Shall we?” He asked, leading her through the party and making sure to swipe a bottle of drink on the way. “Any other secret spots in this house?” He asked as they reached the landing. He knew that there was a good chance of the rooms already being occupied and he definitely didn’t want to share. “Or are we chancing it?” He added, looking around at the closed doors around them. "...Or we can always go back to mine, it's only like a 10 minute walk." Jake decided to offer too.
Marley: could help but laugh at Jake's clear relief when he realized she was just goofing around. She could only imagine how many times he was in that situation - a girl gets too attached too quickly and he's stuck having to diffuse the situation without being a total douche. Luckily, him meeting her parents.. well, parent, was the last thing she was thinking of. Shrieking when Jake unexpected threw her over his shoulder, "Jake.. don't you dare..." she warned, but her giggles betrayed her and to her dismay she didn't sound remotely threatening at all. Once her dressed was zipped, she gently shoved his shoulder and made her way back inside the crowded house. She smiled when she notice Jake swipe a bottle has they made their way through the crowd - oddly enough, they were more alike that she have initially though.
Once they were upstairs, Marley took a second to think about his question. Usually in this case, Marley could easily just frantically knock on one of the doors and wait for someone to answer. Depending on who they were, she would make up some urgent statement that would relate to them. For example, if it was Dave himself, she'd lie about some broken item downstairs or if it was one of the other jocks she'd claim one of the girls they dated was downstairs making out with someone from an opposing school's football team. It wasn't that hard to manipulate others without being blatantly mean, after all. "Normally I'd risk it but I can only see so many of the Titans naked before I switch teams." she joked. His place would be more private, they wouldn't have to worry about someone barging in or be interrupted with knocks on the door every two seconds. "We can go to your place, but I might need to hitch a ride on your back. The shoes I wore are so not sidewalk appropriate" She answered, instantly regretting her choice of footwear - she was already super tall so heels were never necessary. "What about your parents?" she asked, knowing how late is was and the last thing she needed was to be creeping through some strangers house in the middle of the night while they were in bed.
Jake: couldn’t keep his lips off hers, they were addictive and the kisses were only getting better as their make out continued in the pool. The kisses only seemed to get more intense too but Marley seemed equally as into it as the kisses deepened and they continued to gravitate closer together, although that wasn’t really possible with the lack of space already between them. “Oh well…” It was all he could think to reply as he caught his breath for a few seconds, his mind still trying to catch up before Marley’s lips were on his again and they went back to their make out.
He chased after her lips when she pulled back the second time, smiling when he heard her question. Jake was well aware of where her hand was resting too and there was no doubt in his mind about what his answer was gonna be. A bed would be much comfier and easier to fool around in compared with the pool, plus he could be sure of protection there. A lot of girls were always surprised when he made sure he was safe but he didn’t want a kid and, he also definitely did not want to pick up any STDs from any of the many girls he'd slept with, especially when some of them had also slept with the jocks. “Yeah, I’d love to go get a room with you.” He replied, a lot more successful at his seductive tone than Marley was (although it’d frankly been adorable) as he leaned in to steal another kiss before heading towards the edge of the pool, taking Marley’s hand to gently pull her along with him. He climbed out, thankfully spotting a pile of towels on the side so they didn’t have to go back into the party soaking wet. He headed over to get them one each, passing one to Marley as he walked back towards their pile of clothes on the floor.
Marley: smiled when Jake agreed to go find a room, not that she had doubts that he would, but it was nice to see that he was just as into it was she was. Taking his hand and following him out of the pool, she graciously took the towel he had handed her and dried the ends of her hair before quickly wiping down her body, starting at her chest and moving down to her legs. Now that she was out of the water and Jake's body wasn't firmly pressed against hers, she felt a chill set in but she knew it wouldn't be long before that was long gone - once they had scouted a free room; and possibly confiscated a bottle on the way up.
"Hey, Um. .. Jake." Marley began, faking a nervous 'doe in headlights' tone as she reached for her wrinkled dress she had abandoned on the deck. She made sure to even look down as if she was too shy to say what she wanted to say. "I was wondering... do you want to meet my parents now or afterwards?" She teased, breaking into a giggle just as the words left her lips. The two had discussed their worst dates before and since he had gotten the chance to poke fun at hers she figured she would there was no harm in doing the same. "Zip me up?" She asked afterwards, turning her back towards him until her dress was secure enough to proceed. Draping her damp towel over one of the railings, not wanting to leave a mess, Marley headed towards the patio doors, genuinely surprised no drunk teen had stumbled out there yet.
Who: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
When: January 13th/2016
Where: Lima Drive-in
Notes: Marley and Jake go on a casual date and.. to their surprise.. they end up having a lot more fun then either one of them expected.
Marley would never admit it, but she was a little psyched to be going out tonight. Sure, she didn't expect this date to actually go anywhere. They could just have some fun and not worry about anything messy following. That was exactly what Marley needed, she had been avoiding dating since her last relationship but now she was ready to get back on the horse. Getting ready was a bit of a feat, since she didn't actually know where she was going but it wasn't too cool out so she settled on a little casual floral number. The two of them had spent more time talking about her legs than their actual date so she figured there was no harm in showing them off. Pairing them with some boots and toussled wavy hair and she was set to go. Thank god for Madison, she mused to herself as she waited for 7pm to come. Jake seemed nice, and since his whole 'thing' was that he didn't care about brands - she was sure he wouldn't care that she lived in a little hole of a home on one of the least lavish streets in Lima; but that wasn't the point. She wasn't going to risk him letting that information get out if the date didn't go well.
Jake was looking forward to tonight and getting to spend an evening with Marley. She seemed like a cool person, who was also hot and that was definitely a bonus for him. It was pretty much why she'd gotten his attention in the first place and why he had bothered to ask her out on a date. Except was it a date? It wasn't like they'd ever specified since they were too busy using car metaphors to bother with that. Either way, he was taking her out and he'd tried to plan an evening that she'd actually enjoy from the limited information he knew about her. Jake got ready fairly quickly since it didn't take him long. He just changed into some clean jeans and a smart t-shirt before grabbing his car keys and heading out of the house. He didn't know why she was studying before a date, that just seemed no fun, but it was why he was now headed over to Madison's house to pick her up. Once parked outside, he didn't know whether to text her that he was there or just go up to the door. What if the McCarthy parents were home? Eventually he decided on the latter, it seemed like the more polite thing to do as he got out of his car and made his way over to the front door and knocked.
Marley heard a car pulled into the drive way and assuming it was Jake, she did a once over in the mirror to make sure she was all set before saying goodbye to Madison and heading to the door. She was just about to open it when she heard him knock. The blonde paused for a moment and smirked to herself, it was a small, simple thing but her ex was more of the 'honk once he gets there' type so it was refreshing. Once composed, she opened her door and smiled brightly at the boy in front of her. "Seven O'clock on the dot." she commented with a grin, "Not bad." She stepped towards him and closed the door behind her. As she began walking towards his car, she tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear - curiously looking over the vehicle in front of her. "So.. are you going to tell me where we're going or is making up the date as you go the whole non-mainstream part?" she asked, stepping backwards until she was leaning on the rear back door.
Jake had probably had more than his fair share of "dates" and been out with too many girls, but he at least liked to treat them right whilst he was with them. Favouring no strings and no commitment didn't have to mean he was an asshole to them, unless he felt they deserved it for some reason or another. "Hey." He smiled. "You're keen." He added teasingly since she had opened the door in about 0.5 seconds flat. He turned as she closed the door behind her, following her over to his car. It wasn't the best car in the world, it was a little beat up and didn't have the latest mod-cons but he couldn't afford another one and as long as this one started and got him from one place to another, he wasn't particularly bothered. "That depends." He replied, leaning in close and keeping eye contact with her as his hand found the door handle. "How much do you love surprises?" Jake asked, stepping back as he pulled the front passenger door open for her.
Marley quirked her brow as Jake leaned in closer, only to open the door. She leaned just a little closer and looked up with him knowingly, "I love them almost as much as I love a good car ride." she retorted before slipping into her seat and letting him close the door beside her. It was a nice car, nothing fancy of course, but it wasn't obnoxious and she appreciated that. There's nothing that make her feel more like a fraud then pretending she wasn't usually running for groceries in her moms run down station wagon. Once he was inside the car as well, she turned to look at him. "I have to admit, I was kind of surprised when you texted me." she admitted, not like she wasn't worth it, but she knew there were plenty of girls he didn't have to wine and dine to get 'in his car' so to speak.
Jake smirked, a laugh escaping his lips as she replied. Their car metaphors had really gotten out of control in their previous conversation with various mentions of being fast and furious and enjoying behind the wheel. It was kind of surprising that neither had brought up being able to drive stick... it hadn't been brought up yet anyway. He slid into his seat behind the wheel, looking over at her as he pulled his seatbelt on. "Really? I was kind of surprised that you agreed." Jake replied. "I thought you'd have plans already." He added as he started the car and pulled out of the driveway. "Where do you wanna eat? It needs to be somewhere that does takeout though, just for information." He asked, deciding to give her the option on where she wanted to get food. "And we can either listen to the radio or any of my CDs." He added, gesturing towards the glove compartment and passenger door where all his CDs were shoved. "Sadly no fancy aux cable in this car so you're gonna be kickin' it old school."
Marley nodded, she did spend a lot of time out with her fellow cheerios, if she wasn't already with Mads. "I guess you're just that lucky." she retorted, teasingly. She was surprised when Jake asked her where she wanted to go to eat, of all things, take out wasn't exactly what she was expecting. Geez, was he expecting to eat and park behind the walmart - she wasn't opposed to a spontaneous hook up but now she felt like a bit of an idiot for calling it a date. There is no way and hell she would let him see that. "Chinese food, always. But only Chan Lee's. They only give you chopsticks and I like to see if you're any good with your hands." she quipped, running a hand through her blonde hair. "Ooh, mix CD's. Why am I not surprised?" reaching in, she flipped through the discs, curious if there was anything she would recognize. "I can do old school. So what do you recommend?"
Jake knew what would be going through Marley's mind when he mentioned take out. He just hoped that the fact they could eat it whilst sat on the bonnet of his car at the drive in movie would be a cool enough twist on it to negate the fact it was take out to begin with. If he was really going all out then he could have prepared food to bring with him but this was only a first date after all. Who even knew if Marley would want to see him again or whether it would just be a one time thing? "Okay Chinese it is." He nodded, knowing the place Marley was talking about as he took the appropriate turn at the next stoplight. "I think you'll find my hands are pretty talented. Chopsticks will be no problem." He replied, shooting a smirk in her direction. "Well obviously I recommend any of them, they're all my CDs after all." He laughed. "But there's some Arctic Monkeys in there, some Alt-J, The Black Keys, Foster the People and a bunch of more obscure people." He explained, trying to name some of the ones that Marley would know.
Marley continued to look through the CD's but smiled to herself, "good to know." she responded under her breath. She laughed along with him, he had a point sure, but it's not like she was usually listening to the alternative rock station. "Foster the people. I recognize them!" she spoke up, turning to Jake with pride. "I don't like them, but I know 'em." she said gleefully before finally choosing an unlabelled disc. Before she knew it, there was a guitar melody playing through the speakers. Marley liked a few oldies, but most of the stuff she listened to now a days was party remixes she could do choreographed routines to to keep her skills up. Usually she found anything else a little bit of a drag, but this song admittedly wasn't so bad once the drums kicked in. Soon she was suddenly rocking her shoulders to the beat. "So, when you're not driving around with girls, listening to your 'totally obscure mix cd's, what are you up to?" she asked, seemingly out of the blue. Truth was, they didn't really know each other that well and she had no idea how long it would take them to get to their destination.
Jake had no idea what Marley was expecting from his and whether it was just a hook up or a date. If it was a date then what were her boundaries? Where would she stop him? He figured he'd just figure it all out as they went and go with the flow. He looked across her, smiling back at her when she realised she knew one of the bands. Her smile was infectious and there was no doubting that. "Well I listen to a lot of music, I watch films and stuff, I hang out with my friends and just normal things really. I can also dance kinda well." He answered honestly. He sometimes debated leaving dancing off the list but it was one of his biggest hobbies and he didn't particularly care what people thought. Plus Marley didn't seem like the type to judge. "What about you? What do you do when you're not waving those pom poms around?"
Marley could have guessed his answer - the movies, the music, friends. It was all pretty average. The dancing thing was a surprising mention, but she figured he meant during parties or something casual like that. "Wait..." she paused, with faux shock. "You have friends?" she teased, before breaking and letting out a soft giggle. "Dancing, huh? Like the electric slide at weddings?" Marley debated on what to share about her free time, she had a reputation to uphold, after all. But truth be told, if she wasn't practicing cheer, she was with Madison or spending time with her mom. "We only wave pom poms during football games." she corrected, as if that was a vital piece of information. "But when i'm not cheering; I work out, I cook. I spend time spreading the word of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ." she laughed, knowing Jake was still thrown for a loop with her joining the God squad.
Jake jokingly rolled his eyes at Marley's dig, liking the fact she was a girl who wasn't afraid to tease him or joke around with him. Girls who took themselves too seriously were boring and definitely not worthy of being taken out like this. They didn't deserve the effort or the thought he put into it. "I do have friends, it's definitely plural too." He laughed. "Something like that." He nodded, careful about how much he did tell Marley about the dancing. Hardly anyone knew the full extent of his hobby. He was a part of two different dance groups, he competed and he trained multiple times a week. "I can even do the robot pretty well." Jake joked. "Okay so if you only wave pom poms at football games then what do you do during basketball season?" He asked, making a left turn as they got closer to the Chinese place. "Oh my god... wait, does that count as blasphemy?" He hadn't even meant to say it, it was just a knee-jerk reaction for him. "I'm all for the religion thing but sitting in a room with Sugar and Quinn preaching does not sound like my idea of fun." Jake added as he pulled into the parking lot for the restaurant. "Okay so what do you want to eat? Any preferences?"
Jake "I know I wouldn't." He laughed, knowing he would barely pay the basketball players attention under any circumstance, let alone when there were scantily-dressed cheerleaders around. "True, if you're not scared of Sue then you're either mental or lying." He joked. "I mean, I think even Figgins is scared of her." He added. Jake grinned as he noticed the smile on Marley's face as the penny dropped on where they were spending their evening. She seemed to like the idea, which he was definitely grateful for. He'd taken a gamble on the film choice but it was one he was fairly certain she'd love from the conversations they'd had. "I haven't been in a while." He shrugged as he pulled into a parking spot and cut the engine. "I'm glad you like it though, and I hope the takeout makes more sense now." He chuckled. "Trust me, I would have taken you somewhere nicer if it actually was a legit dinner."
Marley gave Jake a knowing look, "Honestly, he probably should be. You never know what she's capable. How do you think we're the only team who has a weekly dry cleaning budget?" Taking a sip of her water, she wondered if this was something he came up with himself or if this was his go to first date spot, either way it didn't really matter, but the curiosity was there. She laughed when he mentioned the take out, seemingly echoing her thoughts from just minutes before. "It totally does, for a second I just assumed you were really bad at this." she teased, rubbing her lips together to suppress a grin. Honestly, she'd been on enough stuffy dinner dates with her ex that the idea of sitting in breadstix and forcing conversation seemed grey in comparison to this. "This is nice... and it's cozy. "
Jake flashed her the most innocent smile he could manage, which probably wasn't all that innocent. "You have a weekly dry cleaning budget? That's ridiculous. Probably impressive too, but mostly ridiculous." Jake tended to avoid Sue (and as many of his teachers as he could) and he sensed that staying out of her way was definitely the best option. "Me? Bad at this?" He asked, feigning offence. "How naïve of you." He teased playfully. He knew what he was doing when it came to talking to, and impressing, girls and he most definitely was not bad at it. "Besides, it's all about the build up." He added jokingly. "Okay cool. Well I have some blankets in the trunk so we can either sit in here or outside or on the bonnet, whichever. Oh, and I don't think I ever actually told you what the movie was so I hope you're in the mood for some... Dirty Dancing."
Marley nodded, choosing not to comment on the perks they received. Sure, they won tons of championships and Sue was the most successful coach McKinley had ever had so perks were bound to come with that title, but it wasn't why Marley did it. At first she had started cheering just to be a part of a team - to make friends. But then high school kicked in and before she knew it she was on top of the social pyramid looking down at those who used to be just like her. Worst part of all was she loved it, in fact it was almost an addiction. "Hey, sometimes all the hype isn't actually what it seems to be. Luckily you're doing okay so far." she replied, gathering the food so he could get the blankets. When Jake actually told her what movie they were watching, she definitely approved - she had seen it before obviously, she didn't live under a rock, and it was the perfect date night movie. "Ugh Patrick Swayze's moves are a forced to be reckoned with." she praised, making a face that was definitely expressed her approval. "Let's go out on the bonnet. It's a little to early to have a stick shift between us, don't you think?" she laughed, pun clearly implied as she reached for her door handle.
Jake could understand why people joined the teams like Cheerios, it wasn't all that much of a mystery after all, but he still liked to be different and stand apart from the crowd. Besides a lot of the popularity that came with being a jock was having the newest sneakers or the best new phone and Jake couldn't afford to keep up with that. He didn't want to be the odd one out, the poor friend that everyone felt sorry for, which is why he'd ended up with the hipsters, who mostly chose not to have all that stuff. "Okay, I'll take that. But if this is just okay then I'd love to hear what you think about some of the other dates you've been on." He replied teasingly, knowing he was probably at least being more creative than some of the other guys who'd been lucky enough to take Marley out. "You say that but you should see my moves." He smirked, knowing he (if he did say so himself) could dance as well as Swayze, even if Marley had no idea about that... yet. Jake laughed when she mentioned the stick shift, nodding his head in agreement. "Just what I was thinking. We can save that for later." He joked, climbing out of the car and collecting the blankets from the trunk. He put one on the bonnet for them to sit on and one to the side for later if it got cold after dark. He turned, pulling himself onto the bonnet before holding his hands out to take the Chinese food to free Marley's hands up. Once she was on the bonnet too, he passed her back her food and a set of chopsticks before spreading out some of the communal spring roll style portions between them so they could start eating.
Marley smirked when he mentioned hearing about all the other dates she had been on. “Well, ive been on a lot of dates so we might be here a while.” She said, confidently, standing outside in the cool air, she was glad tonight was fairly mild. Not cold enough so that it was distracting, but cool enough that she had an excuse to shuffle in closer and cuddle during the movie - not that she really needed an excuse to do so. She had been on quite a few dates, admittedly, but they rarely had any thought put into them. It was usually dinner at breadsticks with idle forced small talk. Not only was the venue a lot more creative than usual, things just flowed easy with Jake. They could talk and laugh and there was no awkward 'weather' topics. "Keep this up and you'll totally crack the top five." she added, knowing not to give him too much credit just yet, she figured he was already pretty satisfied with himself - as he should be. After Jake took the food from her, she climbed up ontop of the bonnet and got herself settle, sticking her chop sticks into her noodles. They were early enough so the commercials had just began to play; something they could ignore. Marley raised her brows, "You think you can compete with Swayze? Well, if there's one thing you're not lacking it's your confidence. I can't wait to see you try." she admitted. He was totally all talk. It was amusing none the less. "So, what about you? I bet you take a lot of girls out." the blonde mused. Jake was in shape, smoking hot, had a good sense of humor - hipster or not, that was totally a jackpot around McKinley, and she couldn't imagine he struggled to find a date on a friday night. "What's the worst date you've ever been on?"
Jake "We've got time." He replied jokingly. He didn't need to hear about all her dates, the only date of hers he actually cared about was the one they were on. Although he totally wouldn't mind hearing about some of the horror stories and mistakes that the guys at their school had made. "I'll maybe crack the top five? Damn I must have some serious competition then." He teased, taking a mouthful of his food. The chopsticks were no problem for him, he'd eaten enough Chinese takeout at home to be completely competent with them. Plus, he was good with his hands after all. "I know I can compete with Swayze." He nodded. If there was one thing that barely anyone knew about him, outside of his dances teams anyway, it was that he'd had years of ballet training. He was fairly open about the fact he danced but the ballet was something he kept to himself. He'd moved away from ballet anyway over the last few years, into more modern and contemporary dancing but he could still hold his own. "I'll show you sometime." He added with a smile. He knew Marley probably just thought he was talking crap and he was happy to let her think that if it meant he could see her face when she did see him dance, whenever that would be. "Well I mean are you counting casual hook ups as taking them out? Because that would affect the numbers." He half-joked. He'd probably had more than his fair share of hook ups but taking girls out was something he saved for girls who actually caught more of his interest, and that number was a lot less. "The worst date I've ever been on?" He mused, trying to think of all the times dates had gone horribly wrong on him. "Okay so this one time I took out a really nerdy girl. Not usually the type I go for but she was hot and I was trying to be open minded and not judge her before we spent any time together. I'm such a gentleman like that." He commented jokingly, flashing her a cheeky smile. "Anyway, we went out for some food before going back to hers. We made out for like 5 or 10 minutes when her phone goes off. It's an email from her Neopets account. She stops the whole makeout and grabs her laptop. She then spent at least an hour or two showing me all her Neopets and getting excited about how now that we were a couple, we could both have accounts and she could help me expand my Neo-family or whatever that shit is called. Her parents also came home and she introduced me as her boyfriend. It was mental." He chuckled, able to look back and laugh on the memory now even if he'd been freaked out at the time. "How about you? What's your worst date story?"
Marley was basically a pro with chop sticks, it's not that she really ate all that much take out but Sue had made all the girls learn how to use them - claiming it was some crazy method of portion control. "Now that's something I have to see." she concluded before taking a bite. God, the food was so good, and she was pretty sure it was written on her face how much she secretly enjoyed it. Guy's usually seemed to have a false sense of bravado around girls on dates so Marley wouldn't actually blame Jake if he turned out to be a truly awful dance. Confidence despite that was actually really cute, whether he was okay or not. Debating his question for a moment, Marley finished swallowing before speaking up again. "Well, did you buy the casual hook ups dinner first? 'cause if you did it totally counts." she answered. When Jake started describing his worst date, Marley listened intently, bursting into a fit of laughter when Jake mentioned the Neopets. "Oh my god." she exclaimed, in total awe at the situation he had gotten himself into. "That's hilarious. You sure she's not going to hunt me down if she finds out you took me to the drive in? Your neo-children would be so disappointed in you right now." she teased, playfully. She had to think about her worst date. Sure, she had some lame ones but nothing quite so 'swimfan' like. "Okay, this one time I went to the movies with a guy I had turned down a few times - I can't name names but he may or may not go to our school - anyway, one of the girls was interested in his friend so I decided to help her out and I got them to agree to a double date. We went to see a romantic comedy at the Lima limelight, and I kid you not, he was like.. quietly moaning during all of the sex scenes." she couldn't even tell the story with a straight face. "I don't know if he thought i couldn't hear him or if he didn't realize he was doing it, but it's safe to say I totally used the 'family emergency' excuse and bailed."
Jake continued to eat his food, pausing to help himself to a few spring rolls too. He had takeout far too much, his mom was rarely home to cook for him and eating out was so much better than making himself cereal all the time. Plus it was just too good to care, and he did more than enough dancing to counter out the calories consumed. "Well there's the party on Friday night, maybe I'll show you some then." He replied. "Umm I bought some of them food, I wouldn't necessarily say dinner. Others didn't get anything so it's kind of varied." He laughed. Most of the ones who got nothing were party hook ups where they needed to be fast and discreet or girls he just didn't care about. "Yeah it was bad... learnt that just because a girl is hot and smart, it doesn't mean she's sane." He joked. "Well I'd protect you from the crazy ass nerd chick. Besides, my neo-children should want to see me happy, and I'm definitely happier seeing other people and not their mom." He added playfully. He raised his eyebrow at her worst date story, laughing at both her unable to keep a straight face and the story itself. "Oh my god. He was just moaning watching the film? Now, did you check to see where his hands were at this point?" He asked. "And I'll definitely make a note to keep sex noises to myself during the film then." He laughed, although he thought about maybe making a few just for fun.
Marley was satisfied with that answer, she knew enough about Jake's clique to know that Titan parties weren't event they'd frequent unless there was a reason too. The fact that she was the reason he was good, she assumed, admittedly felt good. It's not like she wasn't used to the attention, but it was all the same people, all the time. Jake was something different, something new and it peaked her interest. The fact that he was charming as well was icing on the cake. "Well, I see why you're selective with who you buy dinner, you never know who's going to take dinner as an invitation to move in." she teased as his previous stalker-ish experience. "Oh, well thank you for that. People say cheerleaders are catty but those nerds are who you really need to look out for. It's always the quiet ones." Marley continued to laugh along with Jake as he commented on her date story. "Yeah! It was so awkward, the scene wasn't even that hot. I know one was around my shoulder but I didn't look at the other. I figure that was the only action he was going to get that night either way." She placed her hand on Jake's shoulder when Jake mentioned keeping the moaning to himself, "Well, I have cold water if it's too much dirty and not enough dancing for you. & I promise I'll won't introduce you to my parents as the father on my virtual children."
Jake was definitely looking forward to this party if it meant that he got to spend more time with Marley. He was enjoying this date thing so far and he was glad he had asked her out. Plus he was glad she'd agreed of course. It wasn't like she'd be short of date invitations and not every cheerleader would give him the time of day. Some were very selective and required dates to be on some form of sports team and sporting a letterman jacket at the very least. "Yeah, exactly. You hit the nail right on the head. Count yourself lucky that I trusted you enough to not be one of the crazies to bring you out for dinner." He replied teasingly. "And I definitely learnt that lesson. Although I don't think it's nerds or cheerleaders, I think it's all of them. The quiet ones just hide it better so you don't expect it." He chuckled, laughing more at Marley's story. "Even if it was a hot scene, is that even a legit excuse for moaning? I still think that'd be weird. Well, I hate to break it to you but one hand is more than enough. Maybe he was just thinking of you doing that scene with him and he just couldn't help himself?" He teased, Marley's offer of water only making him laugh more. "Okay great, sounds like a plan to me." He nodded, taking a bite of his food before moaning playfully. "But oh my god... Marley, this food, it's so good. Oh god. I just can't help myself." He continued to moan for a few more seconds before giving her a playful grin as he took a sip of his drink.
Marley laughed when Jake said he trusted she wasn't 'one of the crazies'. "That's what you think." she smirked, doing her best to offer him a menacing look. Marley could be a lot of things; over confident, snarky, overly-passionate about thing people found silly like cheer or competitions but she knew for a fact crazy was not on that list. She had met a lot of girls and guys alike who went from 0-100 when it came to being attached to someone they barely knew and she was so not here for that. It took her a while for her to genuinely want to tie herself down to someone, and she wasn't even sure anything she had in the past was something worth wasting that time and energy on. "Trust me, some of you guys aren't so subtle with the mind games either. Luckily, I'm immune to that kind of thing" she retorted, proudly. Marley wrinkled her nose looking back at her awful date memory and almost choked when Jake began playfully moaning at his food. She couldn't hold back the giggles that rippled through her, and she used her hands to hide her face. "Oh my god." she exclaimed when she finally recovered. "You're such an idiot." she said softly, though it sounded more like a compliment despite the actual words.
Jake at least hoped Marley wasn't one of the crazies, he'd be disappointed for sure about losing someone who seemed as outwardly cool and chill as Marley did. Plus he'd gotten good at recognising the signs and reading people and it would mean he was slipping on that again. He never really did commitment and never had. Keeping it chill was just so much easier and simpler and no-one had even captivated his attention enough to make him want to be a one-girl guy. Yet anyway, he was sure it'd happen someday. "Well I'm not a mind-games guy so you don't have to worry about that. But at least you're immune anyway, that probably comes in handy." He joked. He'd had enough girls playing mind games with him to put him off ever doing it to girls. At least intentionally anyway. A few would probably argue that him not calling them back but still wanting to hook up was mind games after all. He couldn't help but laugh harder when she nearly choked on her food, a grin creeping across his face at just how hard he'd been able to make her laugh. "Hey at least I was joking, the real idiot is the guy who did it seriously." He chuckled, deciding any further moans would be overkill. "And it may not actually be moan-worthy but this food is pretty good... almost as good as the company." He added, flashing one of his signature smiles in her direction.
Jake: was more than happy to have missed out on the pool parties if it involved all the jocks running around and being as stupid as they usually were. Although the one thing he would enjoy about those parties would be seeing the cheerleaders, Marley included, walking around in bikinis. "Yeah whatever." He replied, too focused on how close they were still to bother arguing back about it.
It may have been arrogant but he'd kissed a lot of girls in his time and yet he always liked to give them the option of stopping him before he got carried away with anything. It wasn't fun if they weren't into it too, although Jake was also glad that he was rarely disappointed. He opened his eyes as he felt Marley chasing his lips, extremely thankful that she seemed to want more since he was definitely into her. Jake saw her move towards him, his eyes closing again as their lips met and he let himself put more into the kiss, not pulling away this time since he knew Marley wanted it. She was a good kisser, that was for sure, her entire presence was just intoxicating and he had no idea if he was more drunk on beer or drunk on Marley. Jake wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her close to him as their bodies pressed together. This was definitely a perfect way to spend a Friday night he thought to himself as he continued to move his lips against hers.
Marley: With every second that passed, the innocent lip lock became slightly more scandalous than the second before. Every move Jake made, Marley matched with her own eagerness - which was wasn't scared to expose. She generally played things cool and went with the flow - if something wasn't up to her expectations or she wasn't into someone regardless of what they were doing it was easy enough for her to move on to the next best thing. However, right now, soaking wet in a strangers pool - her mind stopped wondering and her body seemed to take over. Making out was fun and Marley was all about fun, but right now she was on a whole new level. It hadn't been that long since her and her ex were together but maybe it was the no strings attached part that made this all feel so fresh, new and exciting again. Plus, Jake clearly knew what he was doing. She wasn't an idiot, she knew he had his own reputation around McKinley.
Eventually, her hands moved back over his shoulders and down his chest - only her finger tips lightly glided over his bare stomach. She broke the kiss for a moment, just to catch her breath and regretfully tipped her head back slightly. "Okay... maybe I didn't think the whole pool thing through." she murmured before her lips found his again. Sure, there was a lot they could start in there but trusting themselves to press pause any later to go get protection or find a more private spot could be a gamble. Plus, Marley heard way to many horror stories about chlorine compromising condoms to take that chance even if Jake happened to have one in the jeans that were strewn across the deck along with her dress. Breaking the kiss once again, probably giving Jake whiplash - she kept her fingers gently resting on the waistband of his boxers. "Do you want to go hijack one of the rooms upstairs?" Less seductively than expected and more cheerfully, as if she was asking him to go back to the drive-in.
Jake: watched as Marley stepped towards the edge, his eyes still roaming over her body. He pulled a face at her as she flicked water in his direction, coming up with ideas with how he could get her back later. "If you did that then wouldn't you be running back in there in your underwear? I think you'd give most of them a heart attack." He joked, although a part of him didn't want to think about Marley in her underwear in front of those guys. It was almost... jealousy he was feeling. The key word being almost. Besides, Marley seemed like far too nice a person to have to go through being leered at by the wasted hockey team.
He smiled as she got closer to him, it was clear that there was an attraction between the two of them and the fact that they were now only inches apart wasn't lost on Jake. He raised an eyebrow at her comment, wanting to point out that she shouldn't have judged him but he knew that he could say the same for her. Marley was different to how he thought she'd be, she wasn't the typical vacuous or self-obsessed cheerleader and he liked that. He playfully rolled his eyes at her obscure comment, not taking it too personally. "I have time, or maybe I'm not that obscure. There is a middle ground between non-mainstream and obscure after all. It's not one or the other." Jake shrugged. "But thanks." He smiled, deciding to address her first comment. "And right back at you... I'm glad I came tonight. Thanks for inviting me." He reached out, his hands finding her waist to gently guide her even closer to him. The alcohol in his system was telling him to go for it so he leant in and experimentally pressed his lips against hers for a few seconds, before pulling back to give her a chance to stop him if he'd misread her intentions in any way.
Marley: shrugged, "It's the same thing as a bathing suit, right? You sir, have missed out on a lot of pool parties." she said playfully as she moved through the water. Thing was, those parties weren't all they were cracked up to be and as much as she liked to imply it was, heading into a group of neanderthals half naked while they hoot and holler wasn't exactly her idea of a fun time either.
She wasn't sure why she had to slip in that little comment making fun of his interests. Sure it was all in good fun, and at this point it was habitual - but she really was glad he had shown up, and she had meant that when she said it. She even more glad that Jake was as easy going as he was and seemed to take everything she said with a grain of salt. So when he thanked her for the invitation and she felt his hands find her bare waist, goosebumps trickled her skin and it had nothing to do with the water or the cool air. She was glad it was too dark for him to really notice. As Jake closed the distance between them, his lips meeting hers - she wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or the setting or the fact that his t-shirts did in no way shape or form do his body justice now that she'd seen what was underneath - but she could feel her heartbeat pick up and her cheeks grow warm. Right now, it didn't feel like there was a huge house of drunk teenagers who could interrupt them at any moment it was just them surrounded by a pool of water. Once he backed away, her lips chased his for a second, and she lingered at just a barely-there touch. That part before the actual kiss where that lingering 'want' was just left hanging and it was both frustrating and incredibly intoxicating all at once. It was almost a game to see who couldn't resist more. Eventually, she gave in and this time initiated the kiss - smiling into it as her arms left the water they were submerged in so they could wrap comfortably around his neck, causing her weightless frame to be firmly pressed against his.
Oh, Marley. It’s not about Lima, it’s about you and how you spend your time. And it’s important to know which to skip – I cut the classes that are essentially useless, like phys. ed. and/or US History. Some of this stuff is just common knowledge. It’s nothing I can’t read up on my own and understand.
Why go to class when there’s still the remnants of summer sun to soak up? I’m not giving up on bronzing my body just yet. Once it gets a little colder out I’ll probably choose to be a good girl and go to class again…but for now I’m taking advantage.
Yeah, but what’s so exciting to do during school hours? Like, I get if there’s a flash sale on or if Chad Michael Murry was spotted slumming it in Ohio but besides that, I don’t know. Then again, I wouldn’t have to just intercept those slips from my parents - Sue would have me doing burpees until I throw up.
That’s fair, I can’t blame you for wanting to take advantage of what little nice whether we do have.
JAKE: had to admit that Marley was surprising him. He had never expected to have quite so much fun with her as he was now. He couldn't even remember how the date had come around in the first place, but he was glad it had. He watched as she gradually moved in closer to him, his hands finding their way around her waist so he could keep her body close to his. "I like to think so." He replied, leaning in so that she could hear his reply too.
He smiled when she took his hand, following her through the groups of people standing around and towards what he assumed was her more private spot that she'd been talking about earlier. He wasn't paying much attention to where they'd actually gone, only realising there was a pool there once he'd closed the door behind them and turned around. "Oh my god." He laughed at Marley's story, it really didn't surprise him, it was exactly the kind of thing that the jocks in general did. He watched as Marley unzipped her dress before she was suddenly just in her underwear and standing in front of a pool. God bless rich kids and their parents with too much money. "Sounds like a plan to me." He murmured in agreement, having to tear his eyes away from Marley as he pulled his shirt off, revealing his own very toned body. Jake quickly slid his shoes off before adding his jeans to the pile of clothes. He was unsure if Marley had been planning on skinny dipping or keeping their underwear on but he went with the latter for now, just in case anyone did decide to walk in. Besides, it could always be removed afterwards. Jake made his way to the edge of the pool, resisting the urge to jump straight in since he didn't want to risk the sound attracting attention to them. It wasn't like most people would be able to hear it over the music but he still didn't want to chance messing up this alone moment with Marley. So instead, he slid into the pool and headed for the corner of the pool that was mostly hidden by shadows.
Marley: There was always some sort a vulnerability in making the first move, whether you were the most confident person in the word or not. So, when Jake followed her lead and stripped down, not that she doubted he would, excitement washed over her and she didn't hide her checking him out anymore than he hid his gaze. Once he was in the water, Marley sat on the edge and dipped her legs in knee deep first, flicking water his way with her toes playfully. Not enough to make too much noise, but enough for the droplets to reach him at his end.
"You're lucky you've been so nice to me, this is normally the part where I'd grab you're close, run inside and lock the door." She teased, slowly slipping her body in the rest of the way until she was treading water and the ends of her hair were floating on the surface. She wasn't too concerned about going back inside later on with wet hair or anything - if anything the crowd would probably be too wasted to notice or care. She made her way towards the shadowy corner, stopping only a couple inches from her partner in crime. "You know, you're different than I thought you would be." She mused out loud. Not like she was here to get remotely deep or emotional, but a week ago she honestly hadn't thought the one person she'd want to hang out with on Friday night would be him. "I mean it's been like a half hour and you haven't mentioned anything obnoxiously obscure yet." She teased to blow off her last comment.
And I skipped less than half of my classes this week, can you believe it? I just have to intercept the cut slip notices that will be inevitably emailed to my parents and I’ll literally be the most relieved person on earth.
No judgments, but I so don’t get this whole allure of cutting class. Like occasionally, okay, but Lima is so not interesting enough to risk another year at McKinley just to explore it during school hours.
Good to know, even though you’d look pretty sexy in one of those sexy nurses outfits. Just giving you Halloween suggestions. Lynn. Don’t worry your pretty little head, Marley…I’m not going to hurt anyone and by anyone I mean Madison. She’s my friend…therefore I won’t mess or hurt her.
I know I would, but Nurses are too cliche - I’m going as a sailor. Mm, I’m definitely not worried, I’m just saying, if by off chance you did and she didn’t maim you herself, I’d reconsider my non-violence policy. But good to know we’re on the same page.
That’s creepy.. She’s creepy. But whatever, everyone’s gotta have their thing, I guess. You have her.. Cheering stuff and I like shoes. At least you don’t cream yourself over math or collect ants like this freak I was forced into sitting next to in biology until I cut off a lock of her hair and went on a hunger strike.
I don’t know.. I think I’d do pretty good in prison if that stuff is legit. I’m like..Super mega hot, so all the tough, badass lesbians will fight over having me as their prison bitch.. But I’d just lap it up and make them all do everyone for me until Daddy bailed me out and I got my own reality TV show.
Don’t worry, I’m not jealous. I don’t think I was born with being able to have that emotion. People are usually jealous of me because I’m sexy, rich and everyone loves me for it. But it’s totally research. He even has this little hat. But really, if you like him, you should see my driver. I’m not sure what ethnicity he is, but it totally works.
Exactly, your shoes are always totally cute b-t-w. Collecting ants? Yeah, no - I don’t do bugs. Biology is a total joke I mean, why do we need to know how things develop when they just do? As cute as I’d look in a lab coat, it so not in my future anytime soon. Cut off her hair? You and Sue might be more alike than you’d like to admit.
Oh my god, between you and Mads, I feel like I’m in a constant episode of Orange is the new black.
Okay good ‘cause envious girls are ones I do not have time for, you never know which one is going to go all ‘bride wars’ on you and try to die your hair blue. So what so your parents do? ‘Cause if you’re a secret bradgelina child - I totally won’t let tmz know. Well, I’m not one to decline a ride in a private car.
Because I’m not letting some dude get all grabby on you, that’s why. Well the rumors are true. That’s like a totally valid point though, because I’m probably the best he gets. Like, I’ve made out with a few of those Cheerios and it was not as good as I was hoping, which is totally a shame because some of them are super cute, but if the make out session isn’t good I doubt the sex would be. Of course you do. What’s in the box? It’s gotta be some awesome shit, right? Well you know you’ve got my vote. And Quinn might be intimidating, but she’s also a bitch and that never seems to help anyone out. You’ll totally win. I’ll even stuff the ballet box for you if you want.
Nah. Sounds like he needs to get out of his mom’s basement and realize taking his sad life out on you isn’t going to make him any less pathetic.
Fine, But we’re getting him back. Somehow I’m not that shocked. Well obviously you’re the best he gets, you’re the best in general. I’d think you would be one tto be up for the challenge of teaching them a thing or two - cheerios are fast learners you know. You’ll see when we graduate! I’m not spoiling it. Mads, I love you, but it’s not really winning if you stuff the ballot box.
Right? Usually I can charm my way out up to at least a B but he’s so not buying it.
