Chara, in an active effort to get the player to stop the repeated genocide's, adjusts how they erase the world, letting certain variables/memories stay intact for whatever character they want. Obviously, this only inspires the player to keep going, which Chara only realizes after it's too late.

Basically three "phases" to this take:

Phase 1 (Runs ~50-300): Chara mixes and matches a bunch of variables, letting different combinations of characters remember past timelines, forcing certain events to happen, essentially creating a ton of 'what-if' scenarios for the player to enjoy. Phase 2 (Runs 301-550): 'Traditional' dusttale. Sans does a genocide's and he and the player race to get powerful with each timeline. Different characters also remember, which gets a DustBelief-like scenario to happen a few times. Things also start to break apart. The monsters seem to become more like husks, dialogue being stripped away. In the end, they're nothing more than shells that give you EXP. Phase 3 (Runs 550+): Your vessel rots. The world rots. Chara rots. Whenever the player reaches the Absolute, all they see is Chara's corpse, overgrown with vines and flowers. The ambience is replaced with their strained sobs. Not a word is exchanged. The player erases the world, and does it all again. "Nothing new is happening. But it will!! I just gotta keep doing this and eventually somethings gonna change. I just have to do one more run. As much as it is annoying how the fandom will sometimes overlook Susie's history of bullying Kris, I find that we ignore even more the many instances we were told via subtext or just straight up text that Dess also physically hurt Kris multiple times??

Idea is that by Chapter 4 on a Normal Route, she's a much more agreeable vessel than Kris. Obviously you're still some parasite possessing her body, but at least you can be reasoned with, kind and merciful and all that.

So you've at LEAST come to an agreement. Keep out in the Light World, let her speak her mind, and in return, you get to drive while in Dark Worlds. You even get to stay in the lap of luxury at night - a.k.a that hamster cage that was mentioned that one time in the base game.

Unfortunately, the SOUL still winds up in that gift box. Why? The Ferris Wheel Incident. We don't talk about the Ferris Wheel incident.
