Crumble is a parasitic organism created to infiltrate intelligent species by copying them.
It takes on friendly, non-threatening forms to make hosts drop their guard before taking them over.
However, Crumble is only semi-sentient at best, a limitation that affects how it drives its mission.
A biological tool, left running long after the civilization that made it stopped caring enough to take it back.
Made to travel through deep space forever, it was sent to absorb hosts, record useful life, and bring back samples. When it was launched, it was forgotten; creatures it absorbed stayed inside—silent minds drifting through its mind like static, some still awake.
As a result, it continues its mission, not out of loyalty but out of habit. Maybe fear. Crumble knows where its makers are, but just chooses not to go back.
Much later, upon arriving on prehistoric Earth, Crumble adopts the form of a young woman, using genetic material collected long after the Great War-
Now aligned with the Maximals and sheltered by them, Crumble’s inconsistent morality is evident as her behaviour shifts according to which absorbed personality is most dominant.
Exposure to the Maximals made her behaviour change more. Absorbed personalities can surface without warning due to stress, closeness, or feelings. Her actions swing—some days she seems almost human, other days wild.
Most Maximals see Crumble as a hurt and lonely human who needs their help.
Depth Charge and Rattrap immediately recognize something else. Where others see vulnerability, they see concealment.
Depth Charge senses her right away when he enters the Maximal base, saying the place feels "wrong." Crumble notices him just as fast, curious that he is one of the few who know what she is without proof.
To everyone else, Depth Charge looks paranoid. To Crumble, he seems dangerous. Not because he wants to hurt her, but because he knows what she is.

I have not been active here, and that is 1000% on me.
My motivation has been on and off. I have been asking myself what I want to do with myself. And it's scaring me, I'm stalling my progress and it's causing me to push aside everything.
I want to get into graphic design, but all the schools i look into offer/ allow some kind of generative ai to pass in their courses, and it's soul crushing because I am appaled by even looking at gen ai
My parents are offering to pay for the schools i go to, I really want to go into an art course, but with how it's looking, I think i'll have to give it up.
Biology/earth sciences are my second option, and Even then, i'm still having to look into schools that are opposed to using generative ai in their studies/don't allow it. It's disheartening and I don't know what to do with my life, how I will continue on if this earth killing cancer they call a "tool" actually takes over.
