pretty sure the reason the fandom calls him player-gordon is because we DONT have a name for him outside of going by "gordon"
i understand doing that and have no problem with it but i find calling a character by a descriptor (eg. the player) over an actual name far too much fun. i have more of a problem when people say that gordon is the players Canonical name. cause its not. the player has no canonical name yet and probably never will. also i just think in general there needs to be more distinction. why? well because i like gordon-as-a-vessel-the-player-inhabits way too much. they are very seperate beings. no idea if gordon is another ai and its body sharing or if its possesion or if its simply a gordon shaped outfit the player puts on. either way i just think the distiction is very fun to think about and a REALLY cool plotpoint that a lot of people glaze over.
side note: i realise i phrased the tags on my post really badly (expect that to happen with me. phrasing and putting words in the right order is not my strong suit). i have Absaloutely no problem with the original player-gordon post. i really Realllly love it and whats talked about it in. again, i just get annoyed when people take that awesome idea and go "ouu the players name is gordon and its canon...." and say player-gordon (what is talked about in the post) when what theyre actually trying to say is just. the player that they headcanon is called gordon.
