can i soft launch my theory that the reason Stain made a makeshift bar to serve rats pizza and also inexplicably knows about videogames is because he was trying to re-create Tommy's chuck'e cheeze birthday party from memory?? maybe more like chasing a familliar feeling of before he was born? trying to heal the leftover grief of a party he wasn't invited to? he's making his own, and this time he gets to invite them in.

while the track is very pretty and absolutely fits the scene, the mixed tone worries me. it's hopeful sure, but also weirdly melancholic? especially the bit from 0:58 - 1:46, like tell me you couldn't see that scoring a post-death flashback scene just as well as this one. it feels just as fitting to score a beginning as it does an end.

something good or bad is sure to happen to him, and the music feels like that uncertainty. The decision to stay with the team and see more might get him killed in the end, but it could also bring the best thing to happen to him. might be both, really only time can tell.

okay i don't know anything about video boyfriend beyond the cover and the back but. do you think dr. datim avato is related to alyx? beyond just being the only women (besides penny's character) in the series. she disappeared and reappeared 20 years later. gordon did the same thing. alyx's existence seems to be tied to gordon's existence in the vr space. kind of a shot on the dark but there's something there and i wanted to confirm with someone who has the tape. i hope my wording's clear enough i just had a brain blast that may mean absolutely nothing.

ran to my vcr to double check that myself because you managing to even catch that is appalling. while there's nothing about Dr Avato or Alyx actually in the tape besides the cover, the fact she's dead for exactly 20 years ( 2004 - 2024 ) is definitely a weird parallel at the least!!

while i don't personally think she relates to Alyx ( id say benrey's a more likely candidate actually, 20 yrs lines up with hl1 not hlalyx ), i totally wouldn't put it past scorpy to have been thinking about that since The Chronicles dropped in 2022. This would've been during the timeframe they were working on the HL2VRAI cinematic trailer and had stain + a general starting plot thought of, and is smack dab in the middle of the HLAGE streams!!

I will say though, that something's up because Dr Avato would've been dead when The Chronicles came out? ( perished 2004 - 2024, Chronicles posted 2022 ). unsure what this means.

I guess in summary if this coincidence means anything at all i think it's that the non-permanence of death as a theme is gonna be an issue. and we have a strong candidate for that don't we.

also, i looked into her name just for fun. Avato can be rescrambled around to spell Admit, and Datim is the Greek word for “Impassible/no-go zone/general area with restricted access”. if that means anything. so like... admit your at an impasse... security officer... surely this means nothing and isn't the plot of video boyfriend. wouldn't that be so funny ahaha
