These are my guide characters for the new Savage Worlds campaign I'm GMing.
Morning Glory is a mare on a royal mission who hired the players to be her guards. She's full of secrets. (Yes, I ganked Illya's dress design, I really like it and it happened to fit)
Snap is a baby dragon who used to be owned by Morning Glory's former guard, Crackle Pop. He's dedicated to guarding Morning Glory, even though he doesn't get paid for it.
If you wish to read it, here is the opening monologue for the campaign:
It has been two months since the banishment of Nightmare Moon. News of the mass destruction in Canterlot is widespread and a large effort was made to give aid to its citizens.
Most ponies know that Princess Celestia’s official statement about what happened is that “Princess Luna was taken over by dark powers and had to be sealed in the moon for Equestria’s safety.” Given that Celestia refuses to state any more on the matter, this statement seems to be dubious at best. At least, it is unsatisfactory for most ponies. Rumors have been flying about what exactly happened on that fateful day, or “night”. Likewise, many rumors have been flying about the princesses themselves. Nopony knows what to believe, though many claim to.
“Why wouldn’t Princess Celestia try to save her sister? She must be enjoying having all the power to herself.”
“Why did we never hear about this “dark power” before it took our beloved princess? It must be fabricated, Luna must have turned evil on her own.”
“Why would she need to be sealed in the moon? That just sounds silly. Celestia probably just killed Luna.”
“I heard there was a pony preaching at Canterlot Castle that day, declaring that some day soon Princess Celestia would do the same thing.”
“They say the pony flying around Canterlot looked nothing like Princess Luna. I’ll bet it was Princess Celestia in disguise.”
“I heard there’s a cult dedicated to bringing Princess Luna back.”
“I heard there's a countercult dedicated to stopping them.”
“If Princess Celestia really cared about her sister she would have blamed Cerberus or a hydra or something.”
These are just some examples of the rumors you may have heard. Though things have not gotten quite so dire that civil war has broken out, nary a day goes by that you don’t hear somepony arguing about the princesses.
One thing cannot be denied, though. On that fateful day, the moon eclipsed the sun, causing a night that lasted around 50 hours. And ever since that day, the moon has been stuck in the sky, with the newly appearing “Mare in the Moon” pattern on it. As a result, every day at 12:00pm, the sun “jumps past” the moon, causing an eclipse for about five seconds.
You find yourself in a dingy bar in Manehattan, filled with rogues, crooks, and warriors. At the entrance you spot numerous Wanted posters. Most seem standard fare, but one stands out in particular. Ah yes, if you’ve seen this Wanted poster before, you know it has its own set of rumors. Given the timing and the enormous bounty of five million bits, many rumors link this wanted unicorn, Dawn Break, to the alleged banishment of Nightmare Moon.
Once you stop staring at the value of 5 million bits, you wipe the drool off of your face and go find your own tables to sit at, possibly next to other random ponies. Before you remember why you came in here, you notice a pony who definitely doesn’t belong here. What would an aristocrat be doing in a place such as this? Her clothes look pretty weathered for how nice they are. You may notice that you’re not the only pony looking at her. Almost everypony there seems to glance her way on occasion. Though they all seem to be leaving her alone...
