For my final project, I decided to do a photography project on Gentrification around Temple University. As someone who has grown up in Philly, I have witnessed many neighborhood changes all over the city. One of the biggest neighborhood changes would have to be the North Philly area and Temple is one of the major factors in that. Many neighborhood people have been pushed out of their homes, and the places that they used to call home are now off campus apartments. Some neighborhood people still live around the area,but many things are contributing to them continuing to leave and I tried showing that with the pictures above. To random furniture in the streets, random litter, coffee shops, off campus apartments in between their homes, etc.

Cristina: "I'm exhausted and freezing, I've been working since 2am and I just got off work"

Chelby:"Working at UPS is tough, btw are you still taking the media and children class?"

Cristina:"No, I dropped that class because I didn't have enough time between work and school and I have to pay bills. It was tough.

Chelby: "That sucks, life can be so exhausting."

Cristina: "Tell me about it, plus everything revolves around money"

Chelby: "Yeah I wish everything didn't revolve around money, why was money even created lol"

Cristina: "Maybe we should do some type of boycott on money around campus haha, see what happens to different stores around Temple if students didn't purchase items from there"

Chelby: "Totally, lets spread the word where no students buy anything on Temple's campus this week as a way of saying college is a scam and money isn't real."

Cristina: "Aweseome! I'll make a post now!"

"Why is there only ten people at practice this week?"

"Yeah I know, sickness is running through our team like crazy"

"I know, but not everyone is sick, certain people should stop bullshitting and show up because we all signed up to do this."

I believe that everything happens for a reason

I believe that there is a greater power above us

I believe that we aren't the only ones in the universe

I believe the best is yet to come

One of my strongly held beliefs is that everything happens for a reason. Its definetely something that I strongly believe. If something you really happen, doesn't end up happening. that always means that something better is coming. In eigth grade I really wanted to attend this specific highschool, and I ended up getting waitlisted. I ended up going to another school, and it was one of the best decisions ever. If I ended up going to my first option, the person that I am wouldn't exist, I would be completely different. So, everything definetely happens for a reason.

Photography is a talent that I have. Fusing photography and what I believe in so strongly correlates strongly because sometimes within art you get artisits block, or dont get certain jobs or opportunities you dont want, but all of that rejection happens for a reason and one day it'll be your time to shine.
