“How have you been? It’s been so long since we’ve hung out.”
“Way too long! I take the blame - been flying back and forth from here to New York a lot recently.”
—Elizabeth Olsen walks the champagne carpet at the 95th Academy Awards
“Self care to me means just self love. And I feel as I get older I have more of it, which is very nice. I think it’s really helpful to try and compare ourselves as little as we can to other people for lots of reasons because you are unique in who you are. But I think self care is about just appreciating all the things you could be grateful for. And there are so many. If you are a healthy person who can take a walk in a park. Just remembering gratitude and treating yourself with kindness.”
—Elizabeth Olsen for Harper’s Bazaar UK

She smiles slightly. “Is every staten island girl like you?” Not that they didn’t mind it, it was quite welcoming actually. It reminded them of their cousin. It was also something she herself wanted to possess but she was stuck being that person with her nose in a book and avoiding conflict as if it saved their life. But if worst ever came she knew she could handle theirself in the long run. Hester nods at her words and follows as she was beckoned, thankful. “Oh, err, I am fine with them. I am just not quite sure they would be fond of me.” She never had any pets growing up - their mother not allowing it. “This… looks new.” They comment on her house as it came into their sight.
“You’d be surprised, actually. A bit rough around the edges and very loud mouths but we’ve got hearts of gold.” Chelsea joked to them, though there was some truth held in that. She missed home sometimes just for those types of characters alone. Barton Point was much quieter in retrospect. “Don’t worry too much, Ara is very sweet cat. If she feels you being too nervous, she’ll leave you alone. Just wanted to make sure you weren’t allergic or anything.” She explained, grabbing her bag to fish out her keys when they got to the door. Hearing their comment on her house, she smiled proudly. “Oh yeah, it’s a new build. It took a couple years until it was finished but I felt proud being able to afford to build my own place.” She found her keys and unlocked the door. She moved aside for Hester first, “After you, love. Just slip your shoes off in the hallway anywhere.”

“And here I thought I got it all,” he sighed, taking the wipes from her. “Thanks. Today definitely solidified one thing for me: I am not a bird person.” That included both wild and domesticated birds.
“Not even a parrot could sway you?” She asked, laughing softly and shaking her head. “Can’t blame you. Although, it’s meant to be a sign of good luck though, right? So, maybe you’ve got something good coming around the corner.”
archer-stclair:
“Does my hair look okay?” Archer asked, running his hand through it for what felt like the hundredth time in the past half hour. “I got into a bit of an… altercation… with a seagull….” By “altercation,” he meant he was crapped on.
“And here I thought you were trying out white fresh tips.” Chelsea jokes, fishing through her bag that somehow carried everything for any occasion. She pulled out some wet wipes, “A-ah! Here, that should sort you out til you’re home.”

Hester didn’t bother looking at the car driving away, the other woman made it very clear what would happen if they did come back and she was certain her point was made. “If you have a hair dryer, I would not be opposed.” She is still shaking the book about, before glancing at her. “They do indeed–need a reality check. Though, it is nothing that I am not accustomed to.” Hester gives a small smile.
Chelsea shook her head, “Well, if you ever need a slightly intimidating staten island girl to chase them off, you know who to come to. I have no problem giving out threats.” She said, with the softest tone of voice that generally didn’t match with the words coming out of her mouth. “Of course, I’ve got that new dyson one that dries you off in literal seconds. Come.” She motioned her to follow her up to her house just around the corner, a massive new properly that she’d bought and finished up a couple years back. “Are you okay with cats? I just have one that might run up to the door to greet me.”

hesterzhao:
It was a rainy day and Hester, without a care in the world, decided to go for a walk. Given the fact that she had an arguement with her mom early this morning she didn’t want to be inside any longer than she had to. With iPods in her ears, a book in her hand, and an umbrella in the other Hester was off and soon was at the bridge leading out of town. This was her turning point, turning around and not noticing a car coming into town, she got splashed. Drenched, she gasped, “Are you kid -” She bit her lip before shouting after the now disappearing vehicle, “Hey asshole! Be mindful of people. So inconsiderate.” She shook her book off, trying to save it. “My book…” She muttered under her breath. They had heard the people inside the car say something along the lines of ‘freak’ and the sound of laughter, maybe both - it was nothing new to them though. She had worse. “Oh, erm… hi?” Somebody was nearby.
Chelsea had been on her way home when she’d come across Hester. Having wanted to use her car less and tone her legs, she’d decided to opt walking to Wilton’s to grab some bits versus driving. The only thing she hadn’t anticipated was the weather: forgetting to check to see if it was raining before leaving the house. Thus how she was here right now, dressed in a designer coat (that was definitely more of a fashion accessory than a proper coat) walking with two shopping bags. When she’d seen Hester get drenched and insulted by some people in said car, she couldn’t help herself but to walk over. “Hey assholes! Keep driving or I’ll puncture your fucking tires. Don’t think I won’t do it!” She hollered, putting on her Staten Island accent to give it that extra effect. She couldn’t help but smirk when they did drive off, turning her attention to Hester. “I’m sorry, some people in this town really need a damn reality check.” She said before motioning her house across the road. “You’re more than welcome to wait out the rain at mine if you wanted. Get dry and whatnot.”
did your muse grow up too fast?
absolutely. you can argue that chelsea was never allowed to have a childhood period. she was fending to survive from such a young age and has felt the repercussions from being unable to have a normal or healthy upbringing as she’s gotten older. she’s never had a moment where she hasn’t been fearful of losing everything and having no finances which has only influenced her into who she is present day: living a life of materialistic luxury to try easing the pain of her past.

Nanefua: What do you think you’ll be like when you’re much older?
“I ... don’t know. I hope I’m still the same in respects to my attitude about life right now. I hope I’m comfortable, like I am now. I hope I’m still living my life to the fullest and having fun. I don’t ever want to completely settle like people usually do. The most I’ve done settling wise was moving to Barton Point. But obviously with my type of career? It can be very up and down as you get older so ... it’ll be interesting. That’s for sure.”
Archimicarus: Top 10 favourite fictional characters?
“Ellen Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor from Terminator, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl, Samantha Jones from Sex and the City, Tiffany Valentine from the Chucky Franchise, Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 91201, Gina Linetti from Brooklyn 99, Jim Hopper from Stranger Things, and Monica Geller from Friends.”
Jasper: What brings out a mean streak in you?
“People who are rude or judgmental - specifically about my job or my way of living. Obviously I get it every now and again and I’m quick on their asses about it. I never tell anyone what they should do for a living so I’m definitely not going to let anyone tell me what to do with mine. Oh, and creepy men. Especially creepy men. The Staten Island within me comes out.”
