Do you feel scattered, lost, or like you’re failing more than succeeding? I do. It’s caused me to feel a little locked up and I haven’t been sleeping at night. I’ve been largely silent here for the last couple weeks because I’ve felt overwhelmed by 〰️everything 〰️ and haven’t known what I want to say about any of it. Sometimes I shut down and hide. I’m really trying to forgive myself for that, and love the scattered lost parts of me 💕 . I’ve *also* been touched and awed ✨ by people’s generosity and love. Friends have reached out with offerings and money. 🥰 The moment that I worry I won’t have what I need, I find some offering. No matter how small, it’s like finding a jewel in the ocean. 💎 . Greetings from home. Now that we are all settling into our new alternative reality, the financial realities have also become real for a lot of us. As a completely self-employed person I have lost all of my work, which is entirely based around personal or professional services. I am scared, not knowing how long this will go on for, but also seeing how much privilege I still have being white, cis, and for all intensive purposes hetero. Let’s all fall in love with ourselves a little more 💕 . I did a dumb/beautiful thing last night. I stayed up all night, first on insta (sliding here after doing my French leçons), then taking a bubble bath, and getting lost speed reading thru a new romance novel just to get to the hot parts. I did this probably because I have had a few good days of work, work I enjoyed and felt proud of, and I got scared. When I’m doing good things I get scared I’m going to mess it up, or worse keep doing well and upping the pressure to keep being successful in my goals. So I often sabotage myself so I don’t have to worry about messing up accidentally. But really it comes from a place of soothing myself through escape tactics. If I can get lost in Insta or reading or a bubble bath then I am relieving myself of anxiety and replacing it with comfort and warmth. (Tho Insta while comforting and inspiring at first soon leaves me feeling numb and ugly. I consciously go to reading and baths more often) Of course getting less sleep ups the anxiety the next day, but the tactics I developed as a child still come from a good and beautiful instinct. I want to remind myself of that when I’m hating on myself for getting lost. I just wanted to share because if I can own my stories and faults, I learn to step outside myself to see the bigger picture and learn to love how much good is there. I know that success for me is in the self soothing but in more proscribed periods, giving myself loving boundaries. I hope that we can all step outside ourselves a little today and see the love we have, give, and are. 🛀 🛁💗 . SE Portland, Ore.
