How my Lovely Mother Cooks
I was talking with some of my friends online and I figured the content of which we were discussing, particularly in subject of how my mother cooks food, would be quite enriching for people to find and read, so here it is.
The particular subject of this post will be how my mom prepares the well known and loved dish: Tacos.
First will start with the shell: There is no shell. There are Frito chips as a replacement though
Next, the toppings: Chopped up lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, bell peppers, corn, and sometimes, homemade guacamole and black beans. Nothing too heretical here, just a bit boring.
Finally, the taco meat. This is where it gets evil: To start off, some frozen ground beef is thawed in the microwave, then put into the dry frying pan. After this, the meat is cooked until it is an appetizing gray color. The meet is the put into a colander AND FUCKING RINSED WITH WATER. The pan is also rinsed for good measure, making sure none of the tasty evil oils and fats are left behind. Before adding the meat back into the pan, taco seasoning is added. Only premixed taco seasoning. This is "bloomed" in water for a bit, then the meat is added back. The final flavor component in the meat is ketchup. Yummy.
The "Tacos" are then assembled on a plate and eaten with a fork. Bone apple tea everybody :)
