All Future Projects Discussed in Starkid’s Livestream today
Miss Holloween - Nightmare Time Special
This is currently being filmed and will be released in October this year. Curt and Kim are producing it in a Studio and will have a higher production value than previous nightmare time episodes. This special is an experiment to test what the best format might be for Nightmare Time going forward.
Two song demos were played during the stream which were written by Jeff.
Fancyland - Stand-alone Stage Musical
This was briefly teased in a stream last year. It is a comedy drama musical with a more serious premise than other Starkid shows. It explores the trials and tribulations of a man named Jack Fancy who owns an amusement park. It takes place over a 25 year period and has 3 main characters, although it might have a bigger cast.
Written by Matt Lang and Eric Kahn Gale with music by Jeff Blim and Matt Dahan.
Three demo songs were played during the stream.
It is still in the writing phase, could be produced within the next few years.
Glam and the Pentagrams - Next Hatchetfield Stage Musical
This show will focus on Miss Holloway’s backstory as a pop star who has since been forgotten. This show was originally written before Nightmare Time. Very likely to be the next Starkid Musical to be released but this is subject to change.
The Lands that Are series is currently on hold while logistics are figured out. Cinderella’s Castle was incredibly complex to produce and a lot of the ideas they have are even more complex. We did get teased about three potential Lands that Are Projects.
The Rat’s Castle - A retelling of The Pied Piper
Snow White’s Castle - A retelling of Snow White. This was originally going to be produced in Nightmare Time format but was put on the shelf in favour of NPMD when restrictions were lifted. Matt started making a 5 foot castle model for this project. Ragweed from CC is one of the seven dwarfs.
The Beast’s Castle - A retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Recently written by Matt Lang and Eric Kahn Gale. Clark Baxtresser has written one song.
Pirate Musical is still in the works but a while off production due to logistics. Matt and Nick would quite like to animate it but it might not be possible.
Starkid Labs was mentioned, both projects are still in the works and will happen eventually but will take some time.
