Ancient-tober day 4-5 (this counts as 2 days don’t @ me): the scroll painting The Night Revels of Han Xizai, attributed to Gu Hongzhong, court painter for Emperor Li Yu of China’s Southern Tang dynasty (937-976).
if you don’t have instagram yet, sending someone to hand-paint a party so you can feel left out is fine :(
How the media depicts the Apollo 11 mission:
Actual quotes from the Apollo 11 mission:
michael collins: extremely relatable
Consider a special vehicle on the Möbius strip, comprised of two magnetic spheres on opposite sides of the strip so that one sphere can drive the other. But Möbius strip has famously only one side? It does, on the whole. But locally a piece of strip has two sides all right. Now position the first vehicle in the middle track. While the second is positioned closer to edge, it needs to make two laps before returning to the starting position.
“Spring in the Underworld” - I was playing around with the ideas of the softness and darkness contrast in my work and I realised that there was no better place to explore this than the myth of Persephone and Hades, the former of which particularly inhabits both qualities.
I sketched my thumbnail before reading up on the mythology proper and I was rather dismayed – and pleased – to find my interpretation turned it slightly on its head. I didn’t want to portray the abduction or Persephone sitting in Hades’ lap. I wanted to show her worshipped in his own kingdom. Him falling on his knees before her as she tears into the pomegranates greedily, sitting upon her throne of gnarled dead trees, herself a contrast of life in a desolate place. Patreon members will get a process video and look behind the scenes!

Concept - Garak quietly deciding to solve everything in his married life with killing people.
Julian: Mrs Ruba is giving our Emelie a B-. Can you believe that? She worked so hard on that potato growing project.
Garak: …
Julian: Garak no.
in case anyone. needs to be reminded. I love them
5 things that *definitely* happened on Deep Space Nine
1. Captain Sisko starts to experiment with Cardassian cuisine. He uses his superior cooking skills as a power move / negotiation tactic / general flex on Dukat.
2. Jake Sisko’s collection of horrible jumpsuits mysteriously catches fire. O’Brien has no idea why *jakes closet* is the only oxygen-overloaded environment on the station, but Garak suspiciously happens to mention that he just had a lovely collection of new suits shipped in.
3. Julian Bashir asks O’Brien if there’s any way to hack the replicators so they’ll produce the old Terok Nor uniforms. O’Brien asks Julian why he needs a Cardassian uniform. Julian says it’s not for him, obviously. O’Brien stops asking questions.
4. Sisko has been telling Starfleet that Vic Fontaine is the ship’s counsellor, for years.
5. Quark walks into empty rooms and insults random objects. One of these days, ONE of them is going to be Odo.

A Farewell to Arms and The Sun Also Rises. After I would finish a page I would rip it out of the book.
Huck Finn. Mostly for how it was taught.
I read one chapter of The Grapes of Wrath and decided it could fuck right off. Never read the rest. Also Hatchet and the goddamn Red Pony can join the grapes in the Pit of Fuckery.
