Iâve finally come back to the trail past the cemetery after to many years. And I expected to feel like I could fill in all of my missing pieces by sitting on this bench, but it feels like Iâm dumping a gallon of black paint onto the puzzle to cover the holes, and the blanks. Thereâs a weight in my chest, unlike the one I feel from anxiety or disappointmentâ but a weight that doesnât pull you down, but slows everything. I almost feel like sleeping. Itâs funny how itâs so muddy to reflect when Iâm here. Itâs as if it all goes away because what matters now is this moment.Â
The birds, the hum in my ear, the crashing of the Mad River, and the murmur of humanity mixed with the occasional dog back to remind you youâre apart, but still close to it all. The splotches of sunlight and the smell of pine and watching the small birds with intricate insects flying by. How all of the leaves and grass and branches sway in the light breeze. Each trace of human voice makes you want to hold onto it more. But yet, I want you to walk down that wooden path, not say a word, and sit here with me, side by side, as we both take in our surroundings.Â
And now the paint has dried, leaving indents where the missing pieces lie empty.Â
this still slaps
a concept: me, you, at an aquarium holding hands and looking at sea turtles

a concept: me, you, at a beach holding hands making sure baby sea turtles make it safely to the sea alongside other awesome people doing kick ass direct action conversation and human welfare work at Vital Actions

Just going on record now: the fact that Music by Sia is nominated for a Golden Globe is fucking disgusting. A film that, I would argue, is among the most damaging pieces of media related to autism made in my lifetime...and it's nominated for best musical/comedy.
A movie that shows an autistic person being restrained during meltdowns in a way that is known to kill people (and has killed people.)
A movie that casted a neurotypical to play a non-verbal autistic person.
A movie that Sia cited an eugenics group as one of her sources for (she said she used Auti$m $peaks to research)
Sia agreed with an interviewer who said non-verbal autistics were "basically inanimate objects...like a wig."
This is absolutely fucking disgusting, fuck the Golden Globes and fuck Sia.
Signed, an autistic person that is incredibly pissed off.
itâs honestly crazy how many ppl u meet in your early twenties who have never been in love or been in a relationship or had sex and then youâre like oh itâs actually normal and social milestones actually mean nothing bc everyone is different and has different experiences. cool!
The whole concept of "late-bloomers" is just another semingly cute name for the the belief that people have expiring dates and only youth is worth it and I wholeheartedly abhorre it
it's always a good day to complain about English speakers
Important addition: Maria SkĆodowska-Curie was born during partitions, which means Poland didnât exist, which means her insistence that she was Polish was a significant act of defiance against the occupation, which means that you should respect that instead of arguing that âwell she had French citizenshipâ. She couldnât have Polish citizenship despite being Polish, thatâs kinda the point she was making by keeping her maiden name and naming a chemical element she discovered âPoloniumâ .
HOW TO PRONOUNCE: SkĆodowska
L with a dash through it (Ć) makes a âWâ sound. and W makes a âVâ sound.
skwo-DOV-ska
Thank you for the pronounciation guide instead of the condescending guilt trip
Hereâs a video from Karolina Ć»ebrowska (the âTime travel seamstressâ woman), playing Maria Sklodowska Curie doing a spoof of those Google Auto-complete interviews. Kinda sums everything up. I laughed. properly captioned.
This is so important to me. One of the most important scientists ever was a Polish woman.
