Tumbleweed is actually an invasive species from Siberia. What happens is when the soil gets too dry the roots come out of the ground and the plant curls up into a ball so that it can blow to a new spot. When it comes into contact with wet soil its roots will unfold and it will settle down.

But this is exactly the outcome of laws like this: policing and punishing people who deviate from the gender norm. The direct target is of course trans people (with the brunt of the focus on trans women), but anyone who doesn’t fit with the norms will also be impacted by the law because now there’s a witch hunt against anyone who doesn’t seamlessly blend in.

There have been at least 3 other incidents of cis men entering women’s bathrooms under the guise of “protecting” them from trans women. These bills literally gave cis men a better excuse for invading the women’s restroom.

Anne of Green Gables is getting another TV adaptation, and this time producers do not intend to shy away from Anne's dark past.

Okay I know this hasn’t been made and in development and in theory I should wait and see but no, just no.

Anne of Green Gables is not akin to BC on Breaking Bad. It’s not a dark story. It’s a beautiful, life affirming story about someone who had darker experiences but was basically cheerful and optimistic.

Nothing in that article made me want to watch the show. And I like darkness but don’t take a beloved novel that millions of people love and try to twist it and make it dark just because. Don’t compare a children’s novel to Breaking Bad because you want to trendy and sarcastic and hip.

The problem with a lot of films and media lately is everything is so sarcastic and twisted, and dark.

Why can’t we enjoy a novel that is the very opposite.

And if she wanted that story. Then write your own character. Don’t try to trade on the novel’s popularity while spitting on its essential themes.
