I genuinely. GENUINELY. can’t tell if it is I who is stupid or a lot of people just have a weird perception of Flint.
Ever since I started to like this character, I started to question my moral compass because of how many people act like they did something five times worse than it actually is. I see Flint as a complicated character which comes along with their bitchy attitude, and I see no problem in people disliking them for their behaviour, that’s valid. My problem is that I see people treat them worse than it should be, and I genuinely can’t tell why this happens. I never liked so called “red flags” in RC and if I saw Flint as a bad person, I wouldn’t like them as much as I do. So I don’t understand why they get so much hate.
This comment section makes me question a lot and is probably a good example of a weird exaggeration of a scenario(literally accuse them of a crime?😭). I saw nothing criminal in that closet scene, it was tense at first, but nothing close to this. I just don’t understand why people do this, do they do this intentionally? And the thing that worries me the most is the vote ratio on these comments.
Anyway, I just can’t explain this weird phenomenon in RC community. Part of me just wants to say it’s because they are not a tall white man, cuz I just can’t make sense of it anyway. I’m just really tired, I want to enjoy the character, but it’s hard when a bunch of people hate them for their identity or overly triggered by their attitude.

BUT then we get this absolutely asinine shit from audrey's internal monologue.

don't get me started on them going to rotkov and being like oh nooo these people are brainwashed by this new faith. where is the self awareness. you are there to destroy a rival cult are you serious. and then when audrey says "accept my religion or die" and people choose to die that's portrayed as a great tragedy caused by fanaticism and not as a direct result of the astreans' actions.
since the beginning of this story i've found their motivations lacking. not a single one is something to go to war with your entire place of origin over. not one. it reads like they threw a temper tantrum. cassiel wants revenge on one specific immortal. raphael is mad at shepha, who is dead. david??? mikael wanted revenge on the government i guess. and i have to guess because it doesn't tell you. "heaven" is just used to act like they share the same motivation. no yall just want a few people dead between you chill out with the war crimes. this villain arc just feels profoundly unearned and like a disproportionate response.
when i first played HS2 i hated astaroth. he was hot, but he had such a stupid, immature motivation and sought revenge on the people who made it legal for him to exist while siding with the actual end of the world. this is what the astreans are emulating for me right now
